Bought this case in February and still going strong. I am not easy on my phones, plus I juggle two phones at a time and I end up dropping one of them at least every other day.I had always heard great things about Otterbox cases but I didn't want one that would hard to remove. The Commuter series gives me the protection I need and still has easy access to get to the phone. This one is two pieces, the bottom later is the more flexible, rubbery colored (mine is pink) case that goes over the whole phone and then the white harder plastic piece that fits into the cut outs on the flexible piece. It's designed so the flexible parts only are covering the corners, which is smart because if they had rigid pieces around the delicate areas they would hit and bounce with more impact. The hard shell covers the area where the internal parts can't be jostled around, like underneath the battery and where the CPU part of the phone is located. It took a few tried to get the white, rigid piece to fit into the flexible piece because I wasn't used to threading the little flappy covers that protect the usb and headphone inputs down into it. But I attribute it to operator error, not the case itself.In 8 months of hard use I don't have a single scratch or dent on my phone. The case has taken a little beating but that is to be expected. It still looks nice. There is a little bit of visible dirt in the groove lines on the back and in the grooves where it says Otter Box. A person more concerned with those types of details could easily wipe it clean. I know there are people who don't want a speck anywhere near their phone but I am realistic and I don't care if the case shows a bit of wear. As long as the case keeps my phone from dings or damage I'm happy.Samsung Notes are already big and kind of heavy. This case does add a little bit weight and space, but not any more than other cases. Both the soft flexible piece and the hard outer piece are no-slip and easy to grip. Those features have saved it from a hard fall on more than one occasion. I've been able to grab it and keep hold of it before its taken a spill.When I upgrade to my next Samsung I will go with Otter Box Commuter series again. It's served me well and the price point is right in line with what I'm willing to pay.

I was reluctant to purchase the Otterbox Commuter case for the Galaxy Note 5 in the absence of other reviews. However, I ended up buying it, and I'm glad I did. The case was easy to install and fits the Note 5 perfectly. All the cutouts are spot-on. Given that none of the pictures for this case show a clear shot of the bottom cutouts, I was a bit worried that the opening for the microphone either would not be large enough or would otherwise obstruct the microphone. (You would think this should be a non-issue for a case, but you would be surprised how this is an oversight for some of the other brands). I was also concerned that the size of the case would make an already big phone just that much bigger, but amazingly enough this case provides excellent cushioning with a very minimal increase in overall size (at least in my opinion). While some may feel that the outer shell is a little slippery, the inner rubber shell covers the volume and power keys and is where I grip the phone anyway. In terms of looks, I think this case also looks better than any other case I have seen. I purchased the all-black version of this case, and the outer plastic shell has a very attractive almost leather-like look. I can't attest to how well the case protects the phone, as I have yet to drop it yet, but it's hard to imagine that any other case, with perhaps the exception of the Otterbox Defender, would provide better protection than the Otterbox. I almost got the Defender case instead, but I don't like how the Defender covers the front of the case and I wasn't sure if the built-in screen protector was removable.Speaking of screen protectors, the Commuter comes with a decent screen protector, which initially I put on but eventually took off because I just don't like the "feel" of screen protectors in general.

This is a great phone case very durable and thick colors are not bad either.

Otterbox is Awesome!. I have owned several of their case for different phones over the years and my experience has been great. This case is excellent, does not disappoint, and follows up with another win in my book. The plastic and rubber material crafting is excellent and feel sturdy and well engineered. From the time you separate the two halves prior to installation, you are welcomed by the attention to the great fit and finish and design that is inherent in this product. Inside the case packaging, Otterbox gives the buyer a complimentary protective screen film protector made of plastic which can be used to protect the glass screen of most smartphones. This is a nice touch by the company as most other vendors do not include a protector, forcing the buyer to spend more money to order one. Once installed the case provides amazing protection from most drops. The port cutouts are perfect and the rubber flaps over opening holes for charging and headphones do a great job in protecting against dust buildup. The opening for the stylus is good and provides for easy access. All in all I would definitely recommend the commuter case. I actually prefer it over the defender version due to the minimal bulk it adds to the overall phone without sacrificing any protective capabilities. Ready to buy another!
