Bought this to use on a holiday in Boa Vista. £40?. Was not bothered if it broke on first cast. No chance. Had it bent double trying to retrieve stuck rig. Handled several sharks with no problem. Looks good. Would recommend .

By any account this is a nice little rod: extended it is about the size of an LRF rod and about as light, although I would put sabiki feathers and a 1 ounce weight on any of my LRF's. One thing I did notice is that the Goture brand is not on the rod and it has a chinese name, so I wonder if it is Goture and Amazon, if they care, might want to check this out. However, it looks like the real thing and is effective in use. I ordered the 1.8 metre which is quite short when you take off 40cm for handle and reel seat. The real seat is well made and it holds the 1000 reel I combined it with securely. It has three ceramic line guides which proved adequate if not ideal and my 8lb braid ran smoothly through them. Bite indication is very good - fishing for herring, I caught a small scad, which naturally went back - but the rod was very sensitive to the bite. It is an easy rod to fish with, the handle is very slim and would benefit from a ruberised section, but it is pretty stripped dowb, very slim and reasonably compact, although not the shorted telecopic rod I possess. It looks and feels to be good quality and great for keeping in the boot of the car or when just going out for a spot of local fishing without being too encumbered. Overall, I like it and think that it makes for a handy rod to have for small fishing expeditions. Clearly you can't expect to cast such a short rod any distance - I was casting about 20 - 30 yards, but then many fish are caught well within this distance. Good little rod!
