Perfect knee brace It supports and it’s quite easy to clean!

I'm on a weight loss journey - 28 year old 6'4" male weighing in at 312lbs down from 356lbs. I exercise by walking 2 miles around my neighborhood each night. However, one night I must have stepped wrong and hurt me knee which caused me to stop walking for 2 weeks waiting for it to heal. I first tried an offering from ACE bandage ACE Knee Brace with Dual Side Stabilizers which claimed to be "one size fits all" but in fact was much too small and very uncomfortable, although it did help. I then tried a copper compression sleeve Copper Compression (TM) Infused Fit Recovery Knee Sleeve - Highest Copper Content GUARANTEED & Highest Quality Copper! | Wear Anywhere (X-Large) . This really didn't do anything and I later learned is really more for weight lifting and muscle recovery, not a knee injury. So I went the expensive route with this McDavid and this really help my knee. I still have to be careful on my walks, especially that I don't jolt my knee stepping off a curb. But by forcing my knee to only actuate the proper way it makes it feel much better. As others said, the sizing is somewhat on the large size. I measured 20.5 inches so I ordered the XXL and had to return for the XL which fits perfectly.

Great support, comfortable and easy to clean. Side supports are strong, well padded and hinged well.

I sprained my knee a few months ago so the inner side of the knee and the tendon beneath the kneecap would hurt when i tried to bend down or carried too much weight while walking. It still pains me a little now and i was starting a new job in construction so i bought this hoping it would help. I had bought a knee brace before without hinges and it didn't help at all and actually made the tendon under the kneecap hurt more when bending so i decided to get this because of the metal hinges and extra straps. It removed most of the pain from the inner side of the knee and i could bend further down without the other tendon hurting, if i bent too low it would hurt though. Only one time did the hinge dig into my calf and that was when i was using it on the treadmill but it wasn't unbearable. I find that on one side the pocket where the hinge is in is maybe 1/8th of and inch too long and would cause that problem when the bottom edge of the brace rolled up slightly but wearing longer socks or pulling it down fixed this problem. I never had this problem when walking or bending only running. Also the box it came with said it's only supposed to be used for 2-4 hours. I've used it for 8-10 hours and it still works but it will stretch a lot more because of that. It might provide slightly less protection but still worth using and better than the other brace. If you sit down and have your knee bent at or past 90 degrees for a few hours it will start to pinch in the back. Overall it has done the job for the past month. It's not a full metal or high end brace for athletes so you can still get injured while using it if you try doing stuff that puts a lot of pressure on the knee.

When my right leg suddenly became inflammed a few weeks ago and I could barely walk, I purchased a Mueller HG80 from my local pharmacy while I was getting my pain killer prescription filled. In a just a few days, my leg had stabilized and was virtually pain free, so I wrote a positive review of the Mueller product. I could wear it all day and I did. I then ordered the McDavid 429 because I play tennis and a tennis player recommended it in an Amazon review. Now I know why. The 429 is a whole other level of support. It fits tighter than the HG80, so I would not want to wear it more than an hour or two, but the level of support is absolutely amazing. The Velcro pads on the HG80 straps are too short, so I can't tighten the brace as much as I would want and it slips down. The McDavid has very long Velco pads that make it possible to snug it up. Also, the knee hole is fully open and seems more functional than the HG80. My knee feels bulletproof in this thing. Lastly, I think the 429 does run one size small and ordering an XXL might be a good idea for medium-sized legs. I ordered the XL because I could get it in 2 days. (Amazon: consider stocking the XXL.)

When I realized I needed a new brace, I went searching for value. 4 braces tried from 2 different names I'd never heard of and not one of them fit properly. They all had 4 stars, but several reviews touched on the ill fit. Defeated, I went online searching and came across McDavid - a name I'd heard of before and decided to do a brand specific search for them on Amazon. My McDavid brace is the 5th brace I've ordered in 8 days (and 3rd name). The first 4 sent back, but this one is NOT being sent back. It fits everywhere I need it to and the support is EXACTLY what I was looking for. In the end, I spent more than I was wanting to, but the fit, materials, and construction of the brace is completely worth the price, and if I am ever in the position of needing another I will not hesitate one bit to get another. No question! If you are still athletically active and plan on using your brace during competition - go with this brace.

size isn't exact

its tight and secures well on my knee..iv bought so many kneee support and brace but this one can hold properly

Not one to review a product after just getting it, but wow this knee brace is outstanding. Sizing info was spot on based on their measurements and method. My knee pain is near extreme each time I stand up but the first time standing up after putting it on for the first time, no pain whatsoever. Its a little awkward trying to walk with it but I'm sure that's standard when you add something unnatural to your body and takes a bit to adjust. Pain in walking not present as much, barely noticeable. I do not notice the feeling of instability to the sides anymore or sometimes it felt like the knee was going to bend in the reverse way but not with this brace. So happy I decided to give it a try. I measured and it added 3 inches to the circumference of knee, measuring around the knee cap for those of you curious as to bulk.
