Highest quality kilt, excellent design - lifetime warranty on snaps!
We are very impressed with the UT Kilts “Standard” utility kilt. My husband loves his kilts and is an exhaustive researcher, so I’m happy to share a little bit about his experience and what he’s learned. Ultimately my husband was choosing between the UT Kilt and the Damn Near Kilt ‘Em (DNKE) kilt, and he chose the UT Kilt for the below reasons. My husband’s waist is 34 inches, and the 36 fit exactly as promised. Compared to the DKNE, the UT Kilt is: - Better made - Stronger stitching with reinforcement at the pleats - More robust snaps, that are back with a lifetime warranty - Adjustability at waistband to accommodate a couple extra inches, if needed - Wider front panel compared to DNKE, which means that the pleating begins toward the side My husband reached out to UT Kilts with a few questions and I will add that it was the Owner/CEO, Bryce, who responded promptly and in detail to his questions. SO AWESOME! Additionally, if you don’t see the specific combination that you like online, it’s possible to request a special order and get EXACTLY what you want in about 5 weeks. A final note: I have worked professionally in costume design and construct both modern and period garments. This means that I am typically VERY critical of the workmanship of off-the-rack garments. My impression of the quality of the UT Kilt is simply excellent, with the kind of finishing, reinforcement and stitch detail that promises a lifetime of wear. Plus, it’s one of the most attractive modern kilt designs available.

Loved the Gift
Dad loved it. I bought this as a gift for my dad and he has worn it basically every day since receiving it. The size chart is reliable and the quality is very good.

Color differs
This kilt fits great, looks sharp, appears to be great quality materials. One thing I will say is the colors of the kilts depicted in the listing are slightly different than the color of the actual kilt I recieved. It is not a big deal because it still looks good, I ordered the dark khaki kilt and it's more of a light brown in my opinion. Feels great though and I can hardly wait to wear it out.

UT KILT's Dark Brown UTILITY KILT is a winner!
I've owned and worn an old UTILIKILT for more than a dozen years, and having lost about 50 lbs recently and about 6 inches off my waist, I decided to get a replacement. That old kilt is made of heavy canvas, colored a dull orange, and it wears like iron, but it doesn't move or flex unless I encounter a very heavy wind to move it. Because it doesn't flex, it looks very 'artificial'. I dyed it dark brown and washed it numerous times to loosen it up without much luck. My UT Kilt arrived and I tried it on immediately. It's half the weight of that old kilt, perfectly stitched fits wonderfully. I intentionally bought mine just a tad loose, and the measurement they sent me was precisely what I needed. DO pay attention to their size chart information. Measure about one inch below your belly button with a cloth measuring tape. Then I recommend that you add TWO INCHES to that measurement. My own waist is 36 inches. If I'd ordered a size 38 UT Kilt, it would have been exactly the right size. However, I most often wear heavier weight shirts, so I added 4 inches to my measurement, instead of just 2 inches. It's still just a tiny bit loose, and I can easily take up the slack with my waist belt, and with the two waist straps and buckles built into the kilt. If I gain a bit of weight, or add an inch to my waist because of holiday feasting, I'm still going to have a kilt that fits properly. If you get it too small, it will NOT stretch to fit! I'm 6-feet tall; the kilt is 22-inches long from top hem to bottom hem, so if you wear it properly, the bottom hem partially covers your knees. Other kilts sold here on Amazon tend to run 24-inches long or longer, and the shorter 22-inch length was the final factor in my decision to buy from UT KILTS.The belt loops are exceptional, and the UT Kilt folks also carry ab excellent 2 1/4-inch belt that is perfect for the job. However, all the Celtic belt buckles listed here on Amazon are configured for a 1 1/2-inch belt, and there are numerous reviews discussing that mismatch in size. So I opted to continue using the 2-inch heavy leather work belt that I've worn for years with my old kilt. It will work just fine until I can find the right buckle. I'd recommend this UT Kilt to anyone who hasn't tried wearing a kilt before, and I give it TWO ENTHUSIASTIC THUMBS UP for any veteran kilt wearers who are considering a purchase.

Enormous Pockets FTW
I've been wearing kilts on and off since I was "a wee bairn," as it were, and I've wanted a utility-style kilt since I first saw one a few years ago. I finally bit the bullet, and I'm glad I did. So what makes this kilt so great? First, the "build" quality. UT Kilts makes a fine product. This thing looks like it's going to be with me for a good long time. The fabric is heavy-duty and the stitching is neat and solid. Second, the pockets. I love the pockets. I didn't think I'd get much use out of the little slit-style exterior pockets, but they sit at th perfect height for me to stick my hands in them, and they do a perfectly fine job holding a tube of lip balm. I suppose I could put change in there if I kept it in a little coin purse or something; instead, along with the lip balm (which pretty much lives there), I just stick anything in the slit pockets that just needs a home for a few minutes. As for the large pockets, they're perfect. They hold my epic phone (Samsung Galaxy Note) and my wallet, no problem. That's about all I carry, but the phone is so big that there's just basically no getting it into a trouser pocket (cargo pants excepted, but I tend not to wear those). I bought this kilt in part as a way to add more pockets to my cycling kit without actually adding full-on pants. I haven't worn it on the bike yet, but I suspect it will do just fine in that regard. One more note: don't be afraid to order right on size. I ordered a few inches larger, because I was paranoid, and I shouldn't have. It doesn't make enough of a difference that I feel like I should return this kilt (it doesn't fall off or anything), but a snugger fit would be a little better.

Great first kilt, but wish the hardware was better!
First kilt, so not quite sure what to expect. Measured as instructed and the fit is perfect. Barely feel it around my waist, but absolutely no chance it'll slip past my hips. The material feels very heavy duty and I get the feeling that it could handle some serious wear and tear. The only downside is the buckles on the side. I ran the kilt through the wash prior to wearing in order to help get the wrinkles out and soften up the very stiff fabric. Hung it up to dry and noticed that one of the buckles had cracked and appeared to be oxidizing from having gone through the wash. I'll keep wearing the kilt in the mean time, but it's pretty upsetting for an expensive garment such as this to have such shoddy hardware.

Shrunk to a perfect fit!
We ordered for my husband and used the measurements the Vendor specified measured at the Navel. Now my husband is built more like a potato then the average Irishman... and when it arrived he decided he was going to wear it out to the local beer place. It being his first time wearing a kilt, he decided to wear it in the tradition sense... you know.. because the difference between a Kilt and a Skirt is that if you wear something under it, its a skirt... right? Now... my husband is built more like a potato than the delicious looking men who model these things, so when he wore it that first night, he realized... it was loose enough, if he sucked his ample dad-bod beer gut in at all... the damn thing would fall down around his ankles... revealing everything he wasn't wearing underneath.... he actually demonstrated this for me.... in the privacy of our home thank goodness! So, before we returned it, we decided maybe it would shrink a little... it is made of mostly cotton after all. He tried it on this morning, and reports a perfect fit! It is otherwise a great Kilt... good construction at an affordable price... washing it is a breeze, and so is wearing it (it has become my husbands favorite) We will definitely be buying another!

Not Bad, Might Even Call it a Kilt
I grew up wearing kilts that were handed down in my family so my kilt experience has always been with very heavy wool, Skene tartan kilts and I will always prefer those over the plain black kilt that that one guy who's maybe 25% Scottish and has never even heard a person speak in Scotts before has on. I have wanted a utili-kilt for a while though since I'm not big on wearing sporrans (aka the og fanny pack) and I do a lot of backstage work so I needed it to be black. This one gets that job done well and after exchanging sizes (I ended up switching from using their directions to using my usually pant waist size and it fit a million times better than the first one, the size exchange process was also very seamless) it fits as well as any of my other kilts. It's definitely no traditional kilt but it fits like one and is comfortable enough, just not warm enough in the winter like my heftier wool kilts are. The only issue I have is that despite getting the color "Black Out", when you put this up against an item of clothing that is actually black, this looks a bit off-black, almost dark green. It is a pet peeve when my blacks don't match but I can probably fix it with some rit dye if it really eats at me or gets worse after a few washes.
