Yep - I see why it gets Consumer Reports' best rating
Here's a description of a side-by-side comparison between Nu Finish (NF) -- which gets 5 stars -- and TR3, which I would give 3.5 stars. In addition to TR3 and NF side-by-side, I also did a side-by-side test of TR3 *on top* of a coat of NF, and test of NF *on top* of a coat of TR3. My car is a medium deep turquoise 2006 commuter - not a show car. It gets detailed every few years and lots of car washes in-between. It's got some light scratches, scuffs and blemishes, but looks pretty new from a few feet away. I did my side by side comparison on the trunk lid. I washed it, and then used a clay-sponge to "clay" the surface smooth, using barely diluted dish soap for slickness. That works really good. Get one. On the left half of the trunk lid I used TR3. On the right, NF. Coming out of the bottle, TR3 is thicker, NF is thinner. APPLICATION -- TR3 goes on easier - it adheres to the paint right away (although, this make no difference in the final appearance.) NF takes a little more effort to 'coat' the surface and if you are applying it sparingly, you feel like you are wiping it off before it glazes over. So I used a little heavier hand and amount to apply NF. CLEANING -- TR3 cleans. NF doesn't. You can see it in your applicator pad. (I tried this on a really old weathered black mail box -- again, TR3 cleans.) But again, for final appearance -- TR3 does not have an advantage. DRYING and REMOVING -- They both dried in about the same time and get buffed off with about the same effort. No quibbles here. The reviews of NF consistently mention the white residue that remains in scratches, cracks and nicks, or on black plastic. Well, I managed to keep the stuff off of black plastic. For the residue in scratches, NF shows up a bit more than TR3, which also does the same - just not at much. APPEARANCE -- Side by side test -- On the first side-by-side comparison, NF wins hands down. (I didn't wait a day for NF to 'bake in' where many folks say it gets better.) On the right side of the trunk lid, NF was brighter, glassier / glossier, and more mirror-like. I would NOT say it's a wet look. TR3 was darker, and details in the reflections were less crisp and clear. Close up and from a distance, NF gets the award. APPEARANCE -- Second Side by side test -- Now I divided the left and right sides of the trunk in half horizontally, so I have four quarters. On one quarter I applied TR3 over NF and on the other quarter -- NF over TR3. Wait, dry, remove, buff... and.... I would have expected something like one quarter to really be amazing. In the end, there was ONE quarter that stood out clearly as the best (my favorite) ... which was the quarter with only NF. This was obviously looking the sharpest, brightest and best. For the two "overlay" quarters, not much happened. I suspect both second coats were not able to do much to change the appearance after the first coat of the other polish was already applied to the paint. But now, I had a trunk lid with 1/4 looking different that the other 3/4's. (This was obvious because I was looking at it, but it would not be obvious if someone was not looking for it. I asked a test subject to point out where the different polishes were applied, and she could spot the four quarters, but again, it would not be apparent if you are driving down the street.) In the end, I had to apply several more coats of NF to the other three quarters (all in the same afternoon) to get the trunk lid to look consistent. OTHER -- I recently resurfaced my headlights, but have had nothing to seal the plastic with. I tried both TR3 and NF on one light, and there is no apparent difference between the products (and clearly a big difference to the other headlight.) CONCLUSION -- Nu Finish wins. TR3 does work nicely, and frankly if you are not keen to noticing the difference, you might not notice. The finish of TR3 is a little duller and does not fill in the scuffs and swirls as nicely. TR3 seems to be a little darker and deeper and perhaps with a buffed out top wax, you'll get what you like. However for me, I'm not taking the time to go over my car again with a (short-lived) top wax. I'll give it another coat of Nu Finish in a month, like it suggests on the bottle. And for that, I should have what I need for another year.

Removes Easily to Reveal a Glossy Shine
Recommended by a friend who worked for a car dealership for years, the Car Polish by Nu Finish in liquid form was used on my vehicle following the use of a clay bar kit. The results were amazing! The car's clearcoat was smooth and the glossy shine was really eye-catching. A 15-year-old vehicle looked like new after using this stuff, and according to my friend, I should only have to use it once a year. The liquid polish is easier to use than the cream (in my opinion) and it takes very little to get an area of the car covered. I put a small amount on a damp cloth to put it on my vehicle. Removing it with a soft microfiber cloth is also easy after it dries to a light haze. It's easy to see on dark-colored paint, but I struggled to see it on light-gray paint. It will also adhere to dark trim, so take care when using it next to that on your vehicle. I did small areas and let them dry before rubbing the product off. I was pleasantly surprised by the glossy shine left behind, and the paint didn't feel greasy, sticky or waxy - just smooth. We have not yet had wet weather, nor have I washed the vehicle since using this product, but I expect it will hold up well (again, according to my friend). I'm happy I purchased it and used it. It was easy to put on and remove and worked as expected. I would recommend it to others who are looking for a product that protects the clearcoat on their paint while adding a glossy shine.

tried and proven
if you start with oxidation free and no clear coat and paint damage, and a clean no water spot body, then you get excellent results that last a pretty long time. They key to success is to have a perfectly clean no wax no coating body to work with. Follow the instructions.. This is not a classic wax. apply with a damp clean cloth, one section at a time. Minimal rubbing. Just move the rag around loosely so the polish is applied evenly with no "holidays". The let it dry to a haze. DO NOT APPLY HEAVILY AND DO NOT ALLOW TO DRY HARD. A light coat and then let it dry to a haze. It's best to do this in a garage and not in direct sunlight. Once that small section goes to a haze, then with another clean soft cloth, wipe this excess haze off. There is no need to buff to remove. I would not recommend using a buffing wheel or anything mechanized ...just manual with light elbow grease. I've used this for over 30 years on all kinds of cars and trucks and boats and trailers and equipment. It is good stuff and last a long time. It is a good bargain too. One bottle will be just enough to do a full sized truck. I would not recommend storing this in the garage or heat. I keep it is an air controlled part of the house, like laundry room. Like most polishes it will separate or harden over time in high and low temperatures.

Great product
I discovered Nu Finish in 2004 and have been using it on my cars ever since. The application process really is as simple and painless as they say, and the results are great. Now, if you don't know, polish is not the same thing as wax, but it's meant to solve the same problems. Wax is a natural substance and it's meant to protect the paint and finish of your car while adding a lustrous shine. Wax tends to have what people would call a "deep" shine, like you're looking into the color. Polish, on the other hand, is typically a synthetic compound, and it trades that deep lustrous shine for greatly increased performance. Wax tends to wear off fairly quickly and it doesn't do a great job of protecting your car from UVs and chemicals. Polish, on the other hand can last for an extraordinarily long time. Nu Finish claims one year and 52 washes, but I've always found that I need to apply every six months. It gives your car a more mirrored shine, so you don't really feel like you're looking inward at the paint, but it does look great, and it absolutely protects the car. Makes washing off the salt and schlep from winter a lot easier, too. Why only four stars, then? Well, if you have any black plastic on your car, say around your wipers, or your washer fluid nozzle, or your fender flares, or bumper, or... well... you get the picture. If you get Nu Finish on that stuff, it's going to turn it white-gray for a long time, so you have to use 3M painter's tape to cover that stuff up, or you're going to have a bad time. This is much less an issue on some cars than others, but it can be a bit of a pain. Either way, though, it's worth it, and it'll help keep your car's paint job in better shape for a long time to come.

It works. Easy to use.
I have used this product before. It works well and is easy to apply. I suggest applying polish in small sections. Water does bead quite well on the hood and trunk. So, it seems to work.

easy to apply, makes paint shiny and gives depth, easy to remove
so.....for the price, I purchased this nu finish... I have a 5 year old truck and I thought I would "wax" it up make it look new! I applied this with no rubbing,no buffing! :) just used a wash cloth sized towel, applied and let dry for a while...45 minutes maybe? why did I let it dry? so it will come off very easy and not streak if I hit a "wet" spot...so while this was on the truck drying....took 20 minutes to do a full sized pickup... I shined the tires, and then got a dry cloth and wiped this nu finish off....came off very easy... I noticed that the white cloth was turning dirty as I was wiping off the nu finish...thats the embedded dirt on the paint! took about 20 minutes to wipe off all the product, and boy o boy did I receive the compliments afterwards... like wow looks better than new...and .. how white are you going to make your truck?!...and mines next!.....and can I use your wax? it is true all you read about this in the positive reviews, does a great job! i keep a bottle in my tool box at work to remove grease, tape residue, rain spots, hand prints, slight scratch's on new car paint! and I have also used a slight amount on a cloth to remove weird stains in leather seats. every six or seven months I pull the truck in and waxer up just because....my chrome bumpers on the front and back are so shiny that they look like mirrors! I have also found because I use this 2 time a year, when snow or ice form on the truck,it comes off with ease! bonus!

30 years of use, there is no other wax I would use. A fantastic value
Update: I forgot to mention that this stuff works great on car windows. It operates like a very long lasting Rain-x. I apply it to my windows, let it dry and I buff it off. Really, I have used this product for almost 30 years on every single car I have owned. I have used this product on every single car I have owned in the last 30 years. I have never had a car rust on me. It says it lasts once a year but I tend to apply it in the fall and again in the spring. In Ohio, our winter weather plays havoc on a car so I just feel better putting it on twice a year. How do I know it works? I bought a 2006 Hyundai Sonata with 25000 miles on it and waxed it the first year I got it and sold it to my dad. In 2007, I bought a new Sonata and sold my old one to my dad. The 2007 Sonata has been waxed twice a year for 10 years, stored outside and has 200,000 miles. My dad’s car has never been waxed since 2007 and has 140,000 miles on it. Same kind of car, close in years. Ironically the car with the most miles and kept outside has ZERO rust while the 2006 (while older by a year) has less miles and garage kept, it has rust building up on the side panels and has for about 3 years. I know this is anecdotal evidence but beyond keeping a car shinny it keeps paint pliable. Pliable paint means it is less likely to crack, more likely to resist contaminants and more likely to last longer. This product is cheap, works well and is even rated a best buy by consumer reports. Really for the results they get and the ratings they have they should charge 2 or 3 times what they do but I won’t complain, it is a good buy and I recommend to anyone that wants to help keep their cars paint looking good on the cheap.
