I LOVE this product! It truly is a game changer! I must admit, I was a bit sceptical given some of the ratings especially for the price of the unit and crystalized litter. The truth is that it is the easiest product to use and it does last pretty close to a month for us, mainly because we have a kitten who loves his high protein food. I've now introduced dry food so I expect it to last even longer. The other factor is that our little one used it right away...just still really curious when it's in motion...pretty cute! In my opinion, the cover completes it and makes it easier for the kitten to keep the litter in the box! It's was difficult for him prior to this system. With so much litter on the floor, I had to sweep daily. Not anymore! I also purchased the lavender scent for me because I love lavender. Scented or not, it does an amazing job as I no longer have to deal with the smell or the nasty cleaning! Hats off to the manufacturer for providing us cat lovers with such an efficient and effective litter system. If you're on the fence, just go for it and ignore all of the negative comments. It will remove the daily stress and it will certainly be worth every penny!!!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Fit over my litterbox and keeps the litter from being flung out. Helps my cats feel less exposed and more inclined to use the automatic litterbox.

I never wanted a cat because I can't stand the smell of a litter box and didn't want one in my home. Tge electronic litter box and the cover solved this issue. I keep it on my balcony and the kitty has her own little outhouse! No one who cones into my apartment ever imagines I have a cat - because there is nooooo smell. The cover is made for the electronic part and trays below- and it all works perfectly together. Even when it rains, the cover protects the inside. Let's just say this - if I didn't have this cover and the Petraeus electronic litter box- I wouldn't have a cat! So Mandi, my cat, gives many thanks... and meows... for this product!

I wanted to like this hood, but one of my two cats is so averse to it that he refuses to use the box if it's on. It seems like he's obsessed with the reflection on it from the outside, so I'm not sure if that's why he's weirded out, or maybe he just really hates being enclosed. I got this to replace the top-entry lid that came with my box, because my one cat seemed to be REALLY stressed out by that, and it does fit right. My other cat had no issue with the top-entry and has no issue with the front entry. This product is quite worth the purchase if your cat isn't afraid of it. It nicely contains the litter - instead of my cats jumping out whatever side of the box, they had to use the entry. It also helps somewhat contain stench, but poop is always gonna smell like poop.

First, crystal litter is the best I've used. All other litters track more and create much more dust. Note that I have tried all litter incuding Worlds best cat litter ect. So, I was looking for an automatic litter box that could use crystal litter. Since I had a gift certificate, I figured I would try this box. After two months I am still not disappointed. The engineering and design are excellent. You replace the entire bottom of the litter box, which is made out of cardboard, every time you change the litter. No mess or cleaning of the mechanism necessary. I know that there have been complaints about soggy cartridges. Well, my cartidges have a thin sheet of plastic on the bottom (they all do now). This has the dual effect of helping the mechanism slide and preventing my cat, who is a digger, from tearing through the bottom of the litter box. My cat loves to drink, pee and dig and I have not had any soggy litter box problem. In addition, the rake goes in both directions which insures an even spread of litter. Although the cartidges my be pricey, I feel they are well worth it. I change a cartidge every two weeks. In addition, I got the hood which fits great and helps reduce litter spreading.

Too small for the average adult cat. They end up peeing in the corners of the room, not in the litter box as it's ( I guess) too confining. One would think if someone was designing a $200+ cat litter system they would think of these things. But then I guess someone has to hire the bottom half of the engineering class.

Hubby insisted on this, and, boyyyy, am I glad we splurged on what struck me as an unnecessary luxury, a gimmick even. This is no gimmick! We have two cats, and the female starts low but lifts her behind while she pees, necessitating the hood. The hood wipes clean easily and doesn't hold the smell from her peeing on it. As for the convenience of a self-cleaning litter box... it can't be beat! Changing out the litter trays is super-simple as well. With 2 cats we get 10 days out of a tray. We order the litter on subscription from Amazon at a significant savings over pet supply stores. The litter can track a little, but it doesn't track nearly as bad as clay. Overall, it's very clean and easy to maintain.
