I suffered with foot pain a couple years due to a injury from wearing the the wrong shoes. I have tried several different brands and style even another salomon style. I was hesitant to purchase yet another pair of shoes all to have them feel the same way. I did some research and gave these a try. Amazing, they feel like I'm walking on clouds. My foot pain is gone and I even don't mind leaving on my shoes. They do have a aggressive tread for normal wear but at this point I don't care! I use them for hiking, walking and I'm a dental assistant that's on my feet alot and I even wear them at the office. My boss calls them high tech shoes lol but I call them comfort.

So, I’m not one to write a review on many things, and when I do it’s usually “it performed as expected.” I can still say that about these shoes, but to be fair, they far exceeded my expectations. They. We’re. Awesome. I went on an overnight backpacking trip and did about 12mi right out of the box. The terrain was a combo of mud on steep slopes, slick, wet rocks, and even some pavement on the way back. My feet never got wet, they never overheated, and they never even got sore. The laces were the only thing I was initially iffy about, but they were also great and cinched down super snugly and stayed put. These boots were marvelous, and I can’t talk them up enough. I might buy another pair just in case they discontinue these for any odd reason. LOVE my Speedcross 5s!

Thankfully, REI allowed me to try a bunch of different boots on. although I've bought enough stuff there, I couldn't find the boot I needed at their store. After 5 different boots didn't work for me, I took a shot at these and found what I needed. Just sturdy enough, light enough, with the right grip, these were just what I needed on a recent trip to Glacier Nat'l Park. Definitely a trail shoe though. Not something to wear around town IMHO. But on the trails, they are great.

If you are looking for some alternatives for mainstream tactical shoes and thinking to pick this one, you may need to think twice as its color scheme is a lot brighter than what you would expect.

Love this company and this particular line. I don't run in them but they're great for hiking on any terrain. Salomon makes great winter boots , as well.

This is truly the only shoe you’ll ever need. I’ve hike multiple Colorado 14ers, hiked an Alaskan glacier, biked many many trails, toured the Costa Rican rain forest, and hiked the AT during torrential downpours. This shoe is comfy, versatile, and absolutely waterproof. This will be my third pair: I’ve owned the SpeedCross 3, 4, and now 5. It holds up to any and everything I do. You can’t go wrong. Best hiking, biking, and trail running shoe out there.

These are great shoes... I got them for work in LE and I’m on my feet for 10-12 hours a day they are waterproof and comfortable, they can be a little warm depending on the weather but that’s like everything else IMHO. So far they seem to be wearing well a month I’m happy with them and they replaced my XA Pros I had before this pair
