Scrapbooking Your Family History Paperback – August 1, 2007

This is great book, because not only does she do a great job presenting the information, but this subject matter can be boring for some people, and she does a wonderful job of making this entire book interesting. She makes you want to continue to read and gain knowledge so you can run out and get the information for your family tree, so you can do a scrapbook of your family. She also does a wonderful job on the scrapbook pages, they are amazing looking, in other books vintage scrapbook pages can all start looking alike, because they are usually have all the same or similar colors, so they don't look interesting at all to me. But in this book the scrapbook pages look great. I don't want to forget to tell you that this book is full of useful information, you can't believe after you read one great thing, that she has something else great to let you know about. It's not just great information about the genealogy part, she also gives you good scrapbooking information on how to distress pictures and papers, how to do tearing of papers, and more. The authors is a genealogist and she has another book Genealogy for the First Time, so she's very knowledgeable on this subject. Unfortunately nothing's perfect, so I did have a problem with her sometimes instructing you to do certain things, but not supplying you with the information needed to do it. It's when she tells you to use the right thing for the time period, but she doesn't tell you what the right thing is. Now these are small things, like lace, ribbon, and a few embellishments used on the pages. Now on these small things most people aren't aware of what was used in certain time periods. But this is the only small thing that I had a problem with.But I highly recommend this book. This book is worth every penny.

Loved this book. It had just some really good suggestions of what to do with all those little things I have from my family and gave me some terminology for items that I had been unable to find. Great value from Amazon second hand.

I like the never going out of style layout ideas that are perfect for my old family photos that don't quite fit in with a modern style. Great tips for taking care of your fragile photos as well.

I'm not a scrapbooker, but I needed to find some way to pull together information on family history and research which would provide some context along with the photos and documents. This book gave me a lot of good ideas on how to go about creating a family album that will make sense to future generations. My albums won't be as fancy or pretty as Laura's, but they will certainly be a lot nicer than they would have been otherwise.

I checked this out from the library and loved it so much I bought it! Great ideas for new ways to process heretige photos and deal with situations where you don't have pictures to go along with stories that you want to preserve. Beautiful pages and great information!

I own several books that deal with Heritage page design etc. This is definately one of the best. I looked at libraries and bookstores before purchasing this. It is the first one I bought in this category and still the one I go back to most often out of about 15 I own. Highly recommended.

A great book with lots of good ideas and layouts. I'm sure to get a lot of use from this book when I scrapbook the photos from my parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.

I was hoping to get a book with some great ideas for scrapbooking, but instead the book only gave a few ideas on how to organize a page. I would have preferred more examples of different layouts.
