Not too shabby, actually
The first earbuds that I used with my iPhone were bought at the Apple store, so everything is going to get compared to those. I'm addressing Sound (music), Controls, Voice Quality (phone function), Fit and Build.* Sound: The sound quality is acceptable. My music and videos are audible and clarity is fine. The fit of these earbuds does NOT block out all external noise, but whether that's a pro or a con is a matter of personal opinion. I like being able to hear occurrences around me (I run while listening to music) so I trade audio isolation for environmental interaction. (an audiophile wouldn't buy $20 headphones anyway, I guess)* Controls: The control mechanism is used identically as the Apple version, but it's bigger. It feels clunkier in that there is more movement in the device itself when you pause or adjust volume. This is a plus for me when running or riding, as I can tell when I've signaled my phone to do something.* Voice Quality: On the phone, I have no trouble hearing people. I've been told a couple of times that it sounds like I'm talking through a tube, but I think that may be a connectivity issue (thanks, Apple, for that exclusive contract. Heck of a job!) as most of my conversations don't have any trouble.* Fit: The earbuds feel a little large overall, again, compared to the Apple version. At first that was annoying, but as I wore them I got accustomed to the new size/weight.As a runner, I would get annoyed when the Apple earbuds would constantly slide out of my ears. These things have NO PROBLEM with that, which was an enjoyable surprise.* Build: There are three points that are interesting to me.- The first thing I noticed was that the cord is fabric instead of vinyl/latex covered, which was a surprise. I assume it's water-blocked under the fabric, but I haven't cut it open to confirm that. The flexibility is unimpaired and it seems to stay cleaner, so I'm comfortable with it.- Second thing was that the earbuds are angled slightly, so that when you put them in your ear, they will be more secure, which seems to work. Makes for a different fit, but nice enough.- Third is the plug, where the headphones jack into the phone. This part is bulky, solid and seems almost overbuilt for it's use... until you consider that the flexible plug cover that most headphones use is what breaks first. The stronger plug cover gives me a good idea when the phone is turned in a way that might stress the cord. All in all, I really like this headset. Affordable and functional. I'm still learning about the durability, but they are holding up well two weeks in.

no tangle - no joke
Barely a month goes by when I'm not online ordering another wired headset. I had a nice Sennheiser set - tangled under my office chair, cracked and broken. I had one inexpensive set from Noisehush - again, snagged on something, yanked off and broke. I've tried expensive ones, thinking i wanted quality or durability, and i've tried the absolute cheapest ones, knowing i can afford to break them. For me, headsets must be the type that sits just out side the ear, with a silicone-gasket inside the ear - NOT those Apple iPod/iPhone style earphones where the speaker jams into the ear, as they are so uncomfortable.Of those, they must be lightweight and not protrude out of the ear too far, as they are easily dislodged. I have a really expensive pair of Shure earphones, which sound great, but are so heavy-duty, and stick out of the ear so far, eventually they sag out of the ear, and have to be reseated regularly. These plantronics phones surely fit the bill. the are super light, compact, sit neatly in place, and don't move. They sound good, and they are available for what i think is a total bargain at around $25.Now a headset is a headset - whether $7 or $25 or $50, and it's only a matter of time before you break them. So, since they're on the road to ruin, why pay more for better ones? Answer: no tangle. These plantronics phones have a woven-fabric covering on the cord, which is no gimmick, and it lives up to its name: it doesn't tangle. Earphones with silicone wires are very sticky: they stick to themselves and to everything they brush up against. Did i say i break earphones? I really feel that Plantronics has made these phones MORE DURABLE with their no-tangle cord system. One disadvantage: no clip. If there's not enough slack in the cord, then you'll yank it when you turn your head. The slippery no-tangle cord mitigates this somewhat, but a clip would have still been better, particularly for active sports.Hesitate no longer - buy two of these.

Incredible sound quality
I am evaluating these side-by-side with the Bose MEI2 headset. To my great shock, the Plantronics 216 has superior sound quality. For listening to music, the Plantronics are what I will choose, every time. The bass response is startlingly good, especially compared to the much more expensive Bose headset. The "tinny" sound mentioned in these reviews happens when you don't wedge them far enough in the ear canal. The bass response is really quite good if you shove them in all way.The bose "Stayhear" system is far more comfortable. I can wear those all day and forget they are there. As a telephone headset, the Bose is more appropriate because of this AND because they allow background noise through. WHAT? Yes-- the Plantronics wedges into the ear canal and does a good job of blocking out external noise. However after a while I find that distracting. The Bose system is one that I can wear all day, I can talk to people walking by without pulling out the headset, and it's just so natural to wear them. But for music I would choose this Plantronics every time.I don't understand why reviewers claim the nylon cord is tangle-free; it tangles just as much and just as bad as any other earbud system I've owned. My biggest problem with the Plantronics is that the nylon cord communicates noise straight into my ears. As it rubs against my shirt or against itself, the abrasive nylon is noisy. I cannot hear it during music but as a telephone headset, it is very distracting between calls.UPDATE: I lost these earbuds on a plane somewhere and am ordering another set! Plenty of choices are available and I would spend more on a good set with this much bass response, but these are better than anything below $150 so count me in, again.

Bad quality wires
Not much comfortable to plug in. Also the wiring is coming out of the cloth lining. One ear piece is not working and it's only been a month.
