RUST-OLEUM 1 qt Zinsser 271009 White Zinsser, B-I-N Advanced Synthetic Shellac Primer Pack of 1

After using Kilz for a stained piece of trim wood, the stain resurfaced in short order. I heard about this BIN primer and tried it. It covered the old stain and hasn't reappeared at all. Very happy with the results. Barely any odor to the primer and it went on smoothly and dried quickly.

I am impressed with the bonding of this primer. I DE glossed a poly coated dresser and applied 2 coats of primer. None of the old finish bled through.

So I learned of this product watching a diy video. The person says that you dont need to sand before painting but I find that is not entirely true. I painted an old laminate bookcase with this without sanding. And then painted a second coat using a good latex paint. After it was dry, I moved the bookcase into my house and while transporting it, I knicked the side and some paint scratched off very easily. I was disappointed and was going to throw the rest of the product away until I watch another video and it strongly recommended sanding before using this product. So I sanded a small media cabinet before applying the primer. After painting the first coat and letting the cabinet dry for most of the day, I tried the scratch test with my nail and the product didnt flake at all or come off. So I know now that this product works best with a good sanding prior to applying it. Would buy again knowing this now.

Best shillak primer I ever used.

I've used this product many times and it always works great. Goes down smooth and adheres to wood really well. It's a great product.

Tried to paint a laminate door with reg paint and it scraped off with my finger nail. Saw this stuff in a Reddit post and tried it. Worked like a charm!! One coat would be sufficient but I did two thin coats to be safe, since the door will see heavy and rough use. Very happy
