Excellent camp and utility knife!
I'm a bit of a knife nut and very picky about them, so I was very pleased and completely satisfied with this BS3 from BPS Knives. The handle is excellent with both scales cut from the same block of walnut, the sheath is nice and thick, and the blade perfectly ground and polished. Very sharp too! Nice weight in the hand, handle heavy so the blade doesn't touch when you put it down. Superbly functional belt knife. At present the knife stays in the sheath a bit too well but I expect it will loosen up with use, just have to be careful not to cut the sheath. I might be hardening the sheath with a beeswax dip if it stays tight. Giving the handle a soak in flax oil right now to maintain the wood's excellent condition. Thanks BPS!!!

Customer for life.
This is a Good knife. I like the fact that it is a full tang, wood handle, carbon steel, Scandi grind, and a nice leather sheath. The sheath is worth the cost of the knife. However, it arrived with a lot of rust on the blade. I get it it that it is not stainless steel. It is carbon steel which is prone to rust. But I have bought carbon steel knives before and they can remain nice and shiny if you keep them oiled. I have never received a rusted knife like this out of the package. Also, the handle looked really dull. I thought it was supposed to be walnut. Maybe it is ash. It is funny because in the description it says both. So which one is it? It didn’t look coated with linseed oil. But that’s ok. At least it is not finished with some polyurethane or something. So for the rust and handle I give a three star review. But the price is good. Just a little disappointed. It would be nice if they sent me a new knife. Then I would change my review. If not oh well. I will still use it. Update: I reached out to BPS knives, correction, they reached out to me, and they wanted to send me a new knife. Such great customer service. The new one came in about 8 days. It is beautiful. I love this knife. I am so happy. They didn’t have to send me a new knife, but they did. And I still have the old one. Score! Overall, I am extremely pleased. Great value, functionality, and craftsmanship. And superb customer service. Way to go BPS. Customer for life.

Excellent and inexpensive.
This is a substancial all around knife. I bought it specifically for the handle -looks thick and I thought it would provide a comfortable grip for someone with some incipient arthritis. And it works. It is already developing some patina after peeling some fruit, very sharp by the way. The sheath looks good and feels good. I make leather goods so I will make a much -much :)- better one, but you don't need it, the one provided is excellent. There is a microscopic roughness in the handle where steel and wood meet, so someone, somewhere will point that out. But I will not because I am a man and I can take it and I can sand it. But I'm not gonna do it because I love it the way it is. I love this knife.

If you're looking at this knife, you've probably heard about it on a forum or YouTube review regarding solid quality bushcraft knives. You're likely also interested in an alternative to Morakniv that is more natural in appearance. This directly competes with the Mora Companion HD which I cross shopped. I have a Bahco knife (similar to the Mora Companion) that is very good, but something about all the plastic on the Bahcos and Moras bothers me, regardless of how functional it is. The BS3 was a perfect choice. Blade is sharp as can be from the factory. It's carbon steel and will need more sharpening, but will sharpen easier. Some minor imperfections near the spine of the blade and right where the handle begins, which I expected at this price point, but otherwise well crafted and punches above its weight. Blade is nice and thick and does not flex (you may not want that). It should stand up to a lot of use. The leather sheath is surprisingly nice for the price, and sturdy. The knife friction fits into it perfectly. I own various leather goods, and the sheath would likely cost as much as the knife, so I'm surprised these guys turn a profit. The wood handle on my knife is dull and lifeless - I was expecting something more brown (mine is like a dull gray tan) and rich in color, so I'll be oiling it to achieve that, which is easy enough. You can remove the handle via two screws and attach what you want. I haven't handled the Companion HD so I can't compare but, from my research, I believe the two knives are very close and you wouldn't go wrong with either. I'd say to just buy what you think looks better.

Well made nice
Well made knife that came shaving sharp! The handle fits well, and the blade balances nicely in my hand. Bought more for my boys.

WOW! BPS IS LEGIT
I am really impressed with this knife. The one I received was just about perfect. Some reviews stated that there was some rust on the blade and that the handle scales didn’t match perfectly to the tang, but BPS must have listened because mine came with a cardboard sleeve covering the blade and had a generous amount of oil with absolutely no rust anywhere. I was expecting to need to do a little touch up, which I didn’t mind for such an inexpensive knife, but I was pleasantly surprised with the finish quality. The handle is very comfortable and the scales match up perfectly to the to the tang. The edge came extremely sharp, I mean crazy sharp. It was the sharpest knife out of the box than any of the 20 or so knives I own. The sharpness rivals that of Esee, which if you own an Esee you know what I mean. The sheath leaves a little to be desired but still pretty decent, it’s just a little thin. I have the leather sheath from my Esee PR4 that I wasn’t using and the BPS fits perfectly. Overall the craftsmanship is excellent and probably the best value for the money of anything I have bought in a long time. I would definitely recommend to anyone. Update: after testing this knife over the last few days I liked it so much I decided to order another one of this model and one of a different model. Also I have found the steel to be very good and it holds an edge well. BPS offers great knives for the price.

Amazing Versatility and Value in the BS3FTS
This little knife is the perfect size for most activities. It is what I have been waiting for, as it has nice wooden scales and a full tang and scandi edge. It arrived with a nice, utilitarian sheath which I am quite happy with. I wish the piece your belt goes through was a little stiffer and that it came with inserts, but I cut up a plastic three-ring binder folder and used the pieces with duct tape to make inserts into the sheath to protect the blade from piercing cutting. It is a stout little knife and similar to the Mora Companion or Robust. It makes very thin feather sticks. I will have to see how the edge holds up with more proper use of the knife. Usually, I don’t like blades that are this polished and I am considering putting some kind of a patina on it, but for now it will stay the way it is. It has a 90 degree spine, but needs a little filing because of the polishing (to make it ferro rod capable). All and all this seems to be a very capable little bushcraft style knife . I don’t know that it will replace my Garberg, but it just may. I have purchased a couple of these for me and will be buying more for gifts. Although I REALLY like this size blade, I would definitely buy one of these knives that was around 5 inches. I think you would be hard-pressed to find a nicer knife for the money. This is my go-to knife when hiking.
