Highly Recommended – Safe, Bright, and Reliable SOS Signal! I purchased the Sirius Signal C-1003 SOS LED Distress Signal for my boat, and I’m extremely impressed. The setup was super easy, and I love that it’s USCG-approved, so I know I’m covered for safety requirements. The LED signal is incredibly bright and it stays on for hours without needing a replacement. It’s reassuring to know the device floats and the SOS signal remains above water, just in case. The day flag and whistle are nice bonuses and make me feel prepared for any situation. The product shipped quickly, and the quality feels great right out of the box. If you want a worry-free, eco-friendly flare alternative, I definitely recommend this. I feel much more confident on the water with it onboard!

Through a boat USA magazine we saw the ad for this Sirius signal C-1003. It had great reviews so we decided to buy one. It works great. The light is very bright and the unit is very sturdy. We’re pleased with this purchase. A bonus it is US Coast Guard approved for carriage.

Works as intended, no more expired flares to make the boating safer!

As advertised, the light is easy to use. It was not entirely clear from the description, but it also came with the distress flag that is necessary for emergency situations. Although seemingly a bit pricey, this is a high-quality product.

To date I concur with the 5 star rating from “hood” and the 4 star rating from “ Clemens”. To add to their reviews I would say that although this product is expensive it will in the long run save me money by not having to continually buy flares that expire not to mention that if not handled properly a flare can start a fire in your boat and burn your hands etc. I do however still keep an orange smoke flare on board for insurance. This product made in the USA was Sirius’s mid range offering and I decided this upgrade because of the additional capabilities it has over their basic model. I keep it on board my 17’ Triumph Skiff for both day and night fishing/hunting. Notes: it’s yellow-bright and floats, instructions on how to use are stamped on the light, was packaged nicely, batteries were already inside the light and worked right out of the package, it came with a whistle-distress flag and mount. The distress flag is of high quality-I attached the enclosed strings immediately so as not to worry about doing this step when out in the water and wind when time is of the essence! Remember to display the flag when needed with the (Square over the Dot), I marked the flag on both sides with a sharpie showing (Up and Down) so others would know if they aren’t aware. The mount is heavy duty but the light fits in it loosely? I may use another option for the mount or just find a container to keep the light in to protect it from damage as it appears somewhat fragile. Keep this light in reach as you don’t want to be digging for it while it’s in some storage locker. The whistle is so so but meets USCG requirements. I would suggest replacing the light batteries every year before you set sail and maybe keep some extras on board as well. Overall I like this light and It was worth the investment in my opinion. Highly Recommended!

Tired of handheld flares always expiring? I was and wanted a more permanent solution for my boat while also being Coast Guard certified. This item arrived quickly and is built like a tank. It is incredibly bright. The only unknown is how long the batteries will last but they are cheap and easily replaceable. Most importantly, they are not some expensive custom battery. You will love this. Don’t hesitate, just buy it. Comes with orange distress flag and whistle if you don’t already have these items. Goodbye handheld chemical flares!!

I bought this C-1003 SOS Distress Signal electronic flare for my boat to complement my signaling capabilities. Some benefits are a safer method by eliminating a fire hazard, a device that doesn’t expire, eco-friendly signaling and the availability of parts to keep it in service indefinitely. It is kept in my emergency bag on my boat. I also bought one as a gift for a family member. They make great gifts for boaters. Good quality product. In my opinion, this very bright LED distress signal light is much better than traditional marine flares. A+

Seems a great device. Tried it out at home and its very bright. (Hopefully I won't need it when on the water!) Thankfully regs have changed (in Tasmania, Australia) to allow an EVDS instead of flares - no more replacing them every 3 years. The Sirius unit was a good price and represents good value. (bit of no-brainer really to get one when your flares expire). Shipping/delivery was amazingly fast.

Ok .... this item works perfect for what it is. Good lighting, great strobe, light weight, easy to put on the boat, meets all Coast Gaurd regulations in the US. BUT for Canada the Coast Gaurd regulations it has to have TWO lights, red and white (Red-orange/Cyan). This means twice the price to purchase a Sirius Signal C-1002. I did I am happy now.

Not legal to use as a flare in canada
