Not BAD, just not as good as I'd expected....
Anyone familiar with V-Moda headphones from a couple years ago will remember the notorious cord failures of the V-Moda Vibe, Vibe Duo and Vibe ii... I have personally owned all three of these models (a total of 6 pair over the years). And honestly, those headphones were simply AMAZING! The bass was ground shattering, mid's and vocals outstanding, and highs perfectly balanced and clear... Seriously, the V-Moda Vibe ii (my most recent pair) were so good I honestly believe they ruined me. I never wanted to listen to music ANY OTHER WAY (which really irritated my girlfriend)...Because of my 8 year history with V-Moda, I had learned to take the wonderful "highs" (beautifully crafted headphones with AMAZING sound) with the "Lows" (what myself and others considered to be a very high failure rate)... So when my beloved V-Moda Vibe ii failed, I needed to find something to replace them with. I was unfamiliar with the newer V-Moda models so I took a chance and bought these, the V-Moda Bass Freq...As far as build quality, these are metal as are all V-Moda products (to my knowledge atleast). However they feel lighter than the Vibe headphones. Not sure if this signifies a leap forward in design & manufacturing or if it means V-Moda has taken a step towards building a cheaper product. HOPEFULLY not the latter. The cords have a totally different feel than all from the Vibe series. From what I read they are built better and meant to last longer than the old ones. Time will tell I guess...As far as sound quality, I was rather disappointed... The bass was actually quite unimpressive compared to the Vibes. The rest of the audio range just sounded rather..... flat. I have to admit, I was audibly (with a few choice words) disappointed the first time I listened to them... I mean I know there are FARRRRR worse headphones out there, but I just expected so much more from V-Moda...In the long run, only time can tell if I will get used to them and if the reliability issues of the Vibes have been worked out in these new models... Tomorrow I leave for vacation in Las Vegas (starting with a 5 hour plane ride), so this should be a good opportunity to really break them in... Hopefully as they loosen up after a few hours of use they'll start to sound better.Honestly, if they don't start sounding better by the end of my vacation then the first chance I get I am going to purchase another set of V-Moda Vibes... All told, including the reliability issues, they were the BEST headphones I've ever owned (6 times over)!Hope my review helps!!

Volume 3db below other headphones
I continue my search for the perfect headset. Alas this is not it. I wanted a set of headphones that fit my small ears better than the apple headphones. Even the new ones fall out. I also wanted one with controls for my Iphone music. I had a set of Vmoda headphones before but they had no controls and I broke one of the earpieces when I sat on it. It still worked but it was ugly. I was intriqued by the aluminum construction these afforded since I'm pretty hard on them. My single reason for only two stars is the volume. When compared with every other headphone set I have...including a number of freebies the volume level achievable with these sets is about 3db (50%) lower. Disappointing because I use them most on a long commute in a noisy truck and I can barely hear them with the Iphone volume 100%. I went back to my old Vmoda headphones. It doesn't have a mic or Controls but the sound is sweet. I have to use the Iphone earbuds that don't fit and fall out if I want to talk on the phone while I'm on my weekly 3 hour commute. I waited too long to send them back and I trashed the original packaging for some reason because I usually only keep that until I verify that the product works.....which it did.....just not very loud.UPDATE: I changed my review to 4 stars. My device was apparently defective. I returned the defective headset and they returned the wrong model at first but they sent the correct model at their expense along with a postage paid return envelope for the incorrect model they shipped. The new headphones are loud and crystal clear, renewing my faith in V-Moda. Lesson to be learned. Don't assume it's the model or company when it could be the Quality control on the individual device

Good, but not great.
I am a huge fan of the sound V-Moda puts out so decided to upgrade from my current V-Moda BF Black earphones. The only problem with them was the wire at the bridge weakened so I have to wrap rubber bands around them to hold the wire in place...other than that they still work fine. I was searching for a higher end sound so got these. For starters, they do produce a cleaner sound and you can hear the bass reproduction much cleaner compared to the BF's. But, in order to really benefit from the bass response, you need an eq setting that enhances it which to me takes away from the earphones. My original BF headphones produced awesome bass and with an eq sounded as good as some higher end headphones costing over $100...and I've heard everything from Bose, Klipsch, Sennheiser (I own 2 pair)to Sony, JVC, Skullcandy, etc.In all fairness, these earphones are not bad, but if you're looking for out of the box bass, you will not get it with these. Once again, be mindful to have a media player with eq settings to enhance the bass and you'll be pretty happy with these as the treble and mid range is quite nice with this model. The ONLY drawback is the control unit. If you are using an Android phone, this is NOT the set for you! The only control that works is the play button allowing you to start and stop media. So if you're buying this for ease of function, make sure you're getting a set that is compatible with your phone. It could be possible there is an available app that will allow function of the control unit so feel free to explore if you feel the need to buy these for your Android device.Over all, I'm pretty happy with these earphones but was most definitely expecting more bass frequency based on my V-Moda BF set...this being an upgrade.

Sound is average,
These are my third set of V-moda metal headphones and the quality has definitely changed. The rich deep bass response is gone which was superb in previous models and is now just average.. but sound quality is crisp and clear . Volume response is quite low even at higher settings and even the carrying pouch has been replaced by a cheap nylon bag......In one word....Average

Pretty good, sturdy headphones that do the job
Pretty good, sturdy headphones that do the job. The call answer button seems to work and they are a solid pair of headphones.

Not as expected
From the other reviews, I expected these headphones to be really, really good with the bass and to at least block out most of the sound around me. It did neither, though the sound quality is good. I love the design and they're comfortable, but I still prefer my £10 Phillips headphones.

Good sound
Driver housing a little bigger than my old v-modas and I preferred the old cable with the woven cable rather than rubber but all in all pretty good
