Buy Missouri Meerschaum - Missouri Pride Corn Cob Tobacco Pipe - 5th Avenue, Bent Bit on desertcart.com ✓ FREE SHIPPING on qualified orders Review: Simply Great. - We bought a few 2-packs of the cheaper, slow-boat cobs on here... they were ok, a deal for the price, but they all needed 3-5 bowls before they lost their very upfront & slightly off-putting plywood-y taste.. likely it's attributable to lesser-quality wood in the barrel, and also maybe less than A+ quality cob. On the other hand, Missouri Meerschaum has its own cornfields (there's a nice doc about the company on the 'Tube, its historic history etc), and their materials are considerably better. The bowl tastes.. sweeter, cleaner, much more organic right out of the package. This "5th Ave" style isn't polished like their other corncobs for more $, but it's definitely sanded smooth (unlike the aforementioned cheaper ones). MM uses a better-quality pipe clay for the bottom as well. The draw is smooth and the feel in the hand is solid. The China ones have tended to get considerable burn-out within a few weeks, but this already feels like it'll last for a good while. Recommended. Review: Great quality and value, smokes great! - This was my first tobacco pipe and I still smoke out of it despite the fact I have a briar too. For the price the quality and value is impossible to beat. Cobs smoke well and last a long time. I do recommend the bent-tip version for more comfort. Old school simple design that is time tested and smoker approved!

Yes, Cobs Are Great For Tobacco
Pipe smokers like a good cob as much as they do a good briar - at least most do. If you are new to smoking pipes - or just new to cobs, rest assured that this is a good one. Now, as much as I enjoy my Savinellis, Petersons, Grabows, well, it's a long list of briar pipes - and I do enjoy them - the tobacco is just as enjoyable in a cob, in this Missouri Pride Bent cob, especially once broken in (briars require break-in, too). But it's still a good smoker right out of the box. Perhaps you think they will burn out too quickly? That has not been my experience - I have MM cobs that are four years old and still providing a flavorful smoke. Cobs smoke cool, and are absorbent, with the result being less tongue bite. A briar can get gurgly with moist tobacco as steam is produced - briar doesn't absorb it. Of course, the key is to let moist tobaccos dry a little before lighting up. Cobs tend to be more forgiving of wet 'backy, and some people won't take the time to dry it out. Celebrating the Fourth of July with a cob is an American tradition in some circles, so order one right now while there is yet time, and join the millions of us, uh, thousands of us - okay, hundreds of us - who ring in July with an American tradition, smoking American tobacco in a good American pipe for the most flavorful fun you can have for an American sawbuck. Try a bit of Lane's 1-Q tobacco, and sit back awaiting all the compliments you will get because of the very, very fragrant (and tasty) aroma.

It's a corn cob pipe.
There are very few things that smoke better than a good corn cob pipe. Mouth piece is a bit narrow for me, but it has stood up to my abuse.

Smokes good... but the corn cob is rough
I've owned several of this brand before and expected this pipe to be like the others. However, it is a very rough corncob. It's not finished at all. Pretty much a corncob that was drilled out for a pipe. The sides are very rough. I was suprised at this, given my prior experience with this brand. I guess it's supposed to be this way, but I'll stick with the more finished models in the future.

I bought this for my father in law’s birthday, and he loved it so much.Classic corn cob pipe with great airflow. Smokes cool and dry right out of the box. The bent bit is very comfortable to hold in the mouth.

I laid the pope on my lawn tractor to visit a friend in his house. Forgot all about it, when I realized it was missing, I went back to find it. Found it smashed in the grass, ran it over twice. PIPE VERY STERDY AND DURABIL. Smokes well.

I recently decided to take up pipe smoking as an occasional hobby, and for the benefits of nicotine without all of the nasty chemicals and additives that are often put in tobacco today. I finally decided on the Missouri Meerschaum "Pride" as my very first tobacco pipe after a lot of research and advice, and I was NOT disappointed. This is an excellent beginner pipe from an excellent company, especially when you get it all broken in. The reason I am leaving a 4 star review instead of 5 is simply because of the packaging and the price gouging. The thin plastic packaging that surrounds the pipe doesn't do much at all to protect the pipe during transport, and the first time i bought this pipe a few months ago on Amazon it came to $27. For a corn cob pipe that usually costs about $10-$12, that is absolute insanity. When I saw that the price was just lowered to a reasonable $12, I immediately purchased a second one as a back up and for non aromatics. IF the price actually stays at $12 like it should have been in the first place, I would absolutely recommend getting this pipe on Amazon. If it goes right back up to almost $30 however, I wouldn't bother. I would recommend instead getting it from your local B&M or from Missouri Meerschaum directly.

These pipes are my go to everyday pipe. If something untoward happens to them while out working on the farm - it is not heirloom quality so it can be affordably replaced. I always have a backup ready to go just in case. The corn cob bowl seems to give sort of s sweet flavor to the smoke. I prefer the bent mouthpiece to the straight type even though I think the straight one is likely more traditional.
