Having an electric kettle is so handy especially with the automatic shut off. It heats water more quickly than using our gas stovetop. The blue illumination makes the water guage easy to read and you can quickly see if it is turned on or not. This is my second Elite Gourmet kettle. The first one was a gift that last over six years of daily use, sometimes multiple times a day. When it stopped working, I immediately order this same kettle from the same company as a replacement.

**Edit on May 29, 2023: The kettle has started to malfunction over the last month and I am now in the process of getting a new one (not quite two years old). The temp fades out and it will shut off but in a glitchy way rather than truly shutting off. This is not a surprise considering how intense the heating process is, but nonetheless, don't think this will be a long-term resource. I do want to add that the features of this item are uncommon for a kettle at this price point. Original: I use a kettle to make French press coffee, and once upon a time, I heated the water on our gas stove. The Elite Gourmet is my first induction-type heating device and I love it! Easy to set the temperature, and almost a minute faster than using gas (6 minutes and 02 seconds for the full 1.7 liters to get to 194 degrees). Besides being fast and easy, the water is ready to go without much heat anywhere except in the kettle. Love the temperature gauge so that I can watch as it rises to 194 degrees. I am not someone who double-checks every little facet of devices, but the temp has been perfect for my coffee. Overall, no hesitation in recommending this kettle (**hopefully you read the edit above because now I have some reservations).

This tea kettle is amazing. It heats up very quickly and is very easy to clean The cord is adequate for most spaces. It really is lovely to keep out on your counter or your coffee bar
