Beautiful book with fancy recipes
I really hate to put a lower rating on this beautiful book. So I didn't. Just because I live in a small mountain town where I can't get most of these wonderfully diverse ingredients doesn't mean this is not a useful book to someone. It is well organized, recipes are listed and easy to get to, and there are some very good photographs. The recipes were listed by seasonal ingredients which was a wonderful way to organize. My only problem was that the recipes were pretty "fancy" with 3 pages of instructions and using ingredients that are hard to come by unless you live in a big city with large farmers markets. If you live in Chicago (which, I think, is where the Green City Market is located) this is a wonderful guide to using their diverse ingredients. I would love to say there were a few recipes I could use but there were only 2 or 3. But this was just about the most well organized and most beautiful cook book I have ever seen.

Fabulous cookbook!
I purchased two of these cookbooks, one for a gift and the other for myself. When it arrived, I must have spent at least an hour going through it. Beautiful photos and recipes that not only sound delicious, but fairly easy to prepare. Neat layout with it being divided into the four seasons.

Great addition!
I've left Chicago and now have year-round amazing farmer's markets, but this is my favorite farmer's market cookbook featuring my favorite farmer's market in Chicago! I just made one of the recipes and it was delicious!

This is an Exciting Cookbook, full of fresh, original sparkling recipes for fruits & vegetables
How lucky is Chicago to have the Green City Market? The products of this market have inspired the recipes in this cookbook, created and/or shared by people who are passionate about food and the integrity of their ingredients. The recipe authors are vendors, farmers, volunteers, local restaurant owners/chefs, and customers. Rick Bayless wrote the forward and is a contributor. A fun, cool book, whose goal is to share some great recipes, not make a lot of money. Reading it will make you want to cook, eat, and garden, or at least shop at the market.

Not even lendable at this high price?
I have 2 complaints about this book -- the high Kindle price (at least to me) and also, even with the high price, it isn't lendable? Really? I can't even lend this book to ONE friend??? I've gotten through 23% of this book and found 3 recipes, which is good for me as I usually find 0-1 in other cookbooks. It does make me laugh about how much these writers are foodies -- just rhapsodizing about spring peas. To me, I eat to live, but not these folks! Many of the writers are chefs who care about food.

Fun Read; Good Recipes
This book is visually pleasing, fun to read, and has some good recipes. I’ve never been to the market but reading this has caused me to want to go there.

Some decent recipes for farm to plate type cooking. ...
Some decent recipes for farm to plate type cooking. Green City Market is the name of the farmers market in Chicago that sells organic or sustainable products (fruits, veggies, meat etc)

Fine for the area for which this book was created ...
Fine for the area for which this book was created - mid-West. To be useful for all the rest of us in the country, it would have been helpful, if they had discussed adapting/timing for other regions, since the idea that bred the book is 'local.' It also seems that each of the seasons seems to rely heavily on a couple of vegetables, eg. "Spring" use of asparagus so much. The book is okay, though there are others written in the "local"/"seasonal" concept that are much better.
