Great monitor for cost-conscious photographers who still want to play a game now and again.
The big challenge with color accurate monitors is that they are 1> Very expensive, and 2> Very slow for games. And it's a sliding scale... the better they are for photography, the worse they are for your wallet and Quake. (As if anyone plays Quake anymore). This monitor has an IPS panel, which is very good for color accuracy, has a wide color gamut, and is very steady and consistent. It also has a great viewing angle so you don't get poor results from simply leaning back in your chair. The biggest issue I find with these DELL panels is they tend to be overbright, and I wind up having to turn them down quite a bit during my calibration process, but that's a minor complaint overall. The other thing is that DELL will tell you that the panel is color correct at the factory, but I have two of these (one fluorescent and one LED) and both of them were reasonably close, but by no means close enough. They still required calibration.During gameplay, these monitors are fast enough. I do see very occasional and minor ghosting when playing FPS games, but it's rare and hard to notice. I might notice it once in a gaming session, but often I do not see it at all.Just an excellent overall panel. Highly recommended.

Is this DOA?
The media could not be loaded. Monitor looks good, which is what counts in the end, but the stand I received is unusable, can’t keep any position! Pondering whether return the whole thing or just use it with a mounting arm, but how do I ask for support to the seller for this? Amazon makes it extra hard on refurbished stuff.

Great High End Monitor For Photo/Video Work
I was in the market for a professional level monitor for 3D rendering (architectural visualization) and did a lot of research before buying. Nearly every forum I visited had this monitor (or the older 2410) ranked as one of the best. It was hard to see all that money leave my wallet but it has been worth every penny. The reason I wanted to upgrade is simple, I wanted something that accurately reproduced colors, in the past I have struggled to get my work to look good on a variety of screens. It was so bad that I actually didn't want to send my work to the clients as I never knew how it would look. Luckily, that has all changed. The first thing that immediately struck me while I was unpacking it was the weight, this is not like the ~$100 monitors I have been using my whole life. The build quality is absolutely perfect, it is obvious that they have not cut corners to reduce the manufacturing cost to pad their profit margins. Then I plugged it in, wow the monitor looks just as great as you would imagine. After a few minutes messing with the settings to get it to match my workflow I took a look at some of my older work to see if they colors were off. They were off, a lot.The monitor is just a joy to work with. The stand allows you to move the monitor up and down approximately 9" or so maybe more, the base swivels so you can rotate it to show someone what you are working on, and the screen can actually rotate to be in a portrait orientation rather than landscape (haven't found a need to use that but it is there if you need it). It has some USB ports on it (very handy) and I think the other one is a card reader but I haven't had a chance to check that out yet. The screen finish is also very nice, it is matte but not to the point that it is annoying if that makes sense. Just the right amount to cut any glare or reflections without altering the look of whatever is on the screen. Really great if you have windows behind you, some of the other monitors I have used are like a mirror. The only downside to this monitor is that you will never want to use a cheap $100 monitor again...I plan on buying a 2412m for use at work, cant stand that horrible monitor I have any longer.

Very good and recommended, but not without flaws
I've ordered 3 of the Dell U2413 monitors from sellers who use Amazon fulfillment (Prime eligible). The monitors arrived on time as usual with Amazon Prime shipments. They were double-boxed, which was nice to help protect them.I am returning one of the three because it has a hard-to-ignore area of pink tinting at the bottom right corner near the power button. I expect better from a monitor selling at this price point and marketed as color calibrated.Pros:+ The anti-glare coating used on this monitor is the best, which is to say least noticeable, I've ever seen on this type of monitor. It doesn't make the monitor look dirty or grainy or sparkly like the aggressive coatings on many IPS monitors do. It just give a nice, clear, sharp picture and text. You may see a little bit of reflection in very bright light like sunlight shining through a window, but it is a good trade. I don't like glossy monitors and the anti-glare coating used on many other matte IPS monitors strains my eyes. I think Dell has done a very good thing here and I consider this the key selling point for this monitor. As an aside the less expensive Dell U2412M has an anti-glare coating that looks bad compared to the U2413 but is better than many others and acceptable to my eyes. That said, I wouldn't buy a U2412M again now that the U2413 is available.+ Color that is very good, at least to my eyes, after calibrating. It is a wide gamut monitor, so colors are richer than on a standard monitor but not overly saturated to the point of looking neon as was sometimes the case on my Dell 2408WFP. I would suggest investing in a calibration device such as the X-rite i1 Display 2 that I used in order to get the colors a bit more correct and natural looking that they are out of the box. I do not do professional photography, design, or other work that requires very precise color; but I am aware of color consistency and accuracy and am pickier than average about it.+ Has most modern connectivity options including DVI, DisplayPort, and HDMI. Notably missing is a VGA connection, but that's not an issue for me or for many others buying this monitor I suspect. USB ports and card readers are a nice touch, but I don't find them convenient to use so can't really comment on how they work.+ Stand rotates nicely to portrait and landscape, and is height adjustable, sturdy and not too large.+ None of the panels I've seen had any bright or dark pixels, as has always been my experience so far with other Dell Ultrasharp monitors.Cons:- 2 of 3 panels I've tried have at least minor areas of pink tint at the bottom right near the power button and/or green tint at the bottom left corner. On one, the pink tint was bad enough that I've returned it. On another it is fairly minor. On a third, I don't really see anything wrong at all. Others have reported this issue on Dell's forums and other websites. Dell's response was not helpful.- Some people are complaining about reverse ghosting or some blur when scrolling text. I can kind of see what they're talking about, but it has not really been an issue for me. I am not gamer, so I'm more concerned with how still images look.In conclusion, I think this is a good monitor for the price. I can live with some imperfections given the clear picture and text it provides, which are better than the older U2408WFP and the cheaper U2412M.I'd recommend the monitor, but get it from a seller that allows easy returns (Amazon Fulfilment/ Prime Eligible helps there) and check it out thoroughly within the return window to make sure your particular panel doesn't have any issues that bother you.
