Works fine and MADE IN USA!!!!!
I stopped at the local big box store to fined these when one burned out in my range hood only to discover I still couldn't match the bulb I had in my hand to any on the shelf. PLUS all the ones I saw were Made in China or Made in Mexico. I typed Sylvania 50 Watt PAR 20 (as was imprinted on the bulb) into Amazon and found these for 9 bucks (plus change). The fact they are Made in USA sealed the deal,, As long as I can by Sylvania on Amazon and they are Made in USA the big box stores have lost a sale. If you order though in winter and it sets on your porch, just to be safe let them warm up to room temperature before installing and turning on. The box also said they are for indoor / outdoor use.

Just what's needed for a recessed fixture.
These specialty bulbs, difficult to find in the specific model found on Amazon, give a directed light focused well with a recessed fixture. Although rated only 5000 hours, needn't burn them at full brightness rarely as the give off good bright light with dissipation on arrival at object. They are much cheaper than buying them at the store, come well packaged. Although incandescent lights in the future will become dinosaurs, they will last a long time if your rheostat is adjusted downwards and makes them somewhat energy efficient and will prolong the life of the bulb.

Work good but......
Hard to find 50 watt Par20 bulbs worked perfectly for my new track lights. Provided a noticeable amount of brightness over the 40 watt bulbs. Just replaced them with LED 9 watt bulbs that provide more light than these bulbs at a fraction of the power. 150 watts for three bulbs versus 27 watts with the LED's at full power. Also replaced four 75watt kitchen Par30 bulbs using 200 watts compared to 60 watts for the LED's. Substantial savings over just one year as they are on most of the time. Only downside is that most ordinary dimmers that work with incandescent or halogen bulbs won't work well with LED's as they need a heavier load that the LED's require causing flickering and poor dimming. Dimmers designed for LED's will work much better and work as advertised.

perfect for my kitchen fixture
Living in the boonies, I like to have a lot of light bulbs on hand. When we bought a new ceiling light fixture for our kitchen we tried a number of bulbs in it. Our light fixture hangs to a little more than 6' above the floor and has two "cans" 1' apart for the two light bulbs. The cans are nearly cone-shaped. They are a matte white inside. The fixture calls for two 50-watt R20 bulbs. Bulbs that are length 20 are just right. 30 length bulbs hang down too low below the cans. This light bulb worked better than P20 because it has a relatively flat lens, and has a very narrow glass edge that lets out the right amount of light below the "can". The matte white finish inside the cones does not reflect well. The texture on the inside of the lens diffuses the light very nicely and minimizes glare. The two 50-watt light bulbs gave more light than other styles of bulbs that we had on hand.I could not find this bulb in any local store, thus here I am at amazon and glad to find it.If you are replacing a bulb, you will find "Capsylite" in the center of the lens. Very hard to read. You will also see "narrow flood" indicated by the "NFL" on the metal side in the middle of the bulb specs.

Just what the manual recommended.
Fit just right onto my parent's over the range hood fan. Father had replaced initially with cheap bulbs and mom was complaining about flickering and inconsistent working. I searched for the right replacement and this fixed everything for a fraction of replacing the entire hood fan like my mom was insisting : )2 month update. One of the bulbs burned out. Didn't think it would go this soon. Not happy I have to replace so soon.

Defective product - many don't work!
Ordered one bulb and it didn't work. Doesn't even merit one star given the bother to return ship the thing but that's the lowest score possible. Looking at the reviews it's clear this isn't an isolated problem. Depending on the number of bulbs someone buys the failure rate may be lower but in this case it was 100%. Almost seems there was a defective lot and they are being dumped. If someone doesn't take the time to ship it back it's an absolute success for Sylvania and the distributor. Maybe other people are more tolerant of being taken but the review scores seem too high given the number of bulbs that reportedly didn't work.

Playing the Lottery
I needed two bulbs of this type for my new range hood. I ordered 3 so I would have a spare on hand. Upon receiving the bulbs I put two in the hood. One did not turn on. I put in the extra and fortunately it worked. They work well and give off lots of light so we will usually use only the first two of the three brightness settings. I hope that this will increase the life span somewhat. I am a bit worried that they will not last well.I gave this three stars since the bulbs that work provide nice light but I am very concerned about the overall quality.

great product and delivery
hello, we use these 50watt par20 bulbs in our kitchen. the 30 degree spread of lights is just perfect and cast plenty of light on the counter surfaces. they are very popular and the local stores are usually out or on back order. since these fit in our small ceiling cans, we will continue to order them from amazon. the packaging was just outstanding as each bulb already comes in its sturdy container, but amazon wrapped a sheet of bubble wrapping to give it extra protection. great product and excellent service.
