Tayama TXM-50CF Energy-Saving Thermal Cooker, 5 L, Black

I use this thermal cooker weekly if not daily. Most of the time, I use it for Soups, stews, and other liquid type meals. For those, it excels greatly.I usually make my meals in the morning and by mid-to-late afternoon, they are ready to eat and serve. I have never had to reheat the food, but if I ever did, it would be just a matter of minutes on the stove and it's ready to serve.On one occasion, I took a stew in one thermal cooker and a gallon of ice cream in another thermal cooker to work with me. All my coworkers enjoyed it very much. Both sat in the thermal container for 6 hours. The stew was piping hot and the ice cream was still solid. I highly recommend this to anyone thinking about thermal cooking. I also recommend it to anyone that's not wanting to have a slow cooker plugged in at home or looking for a way to transport food and not having any power to plug it in.

I really like this thermal cooker so far. I can do a little work to get things started, then leave it alone while it does the rest of the work. I have just started using it, so I'm no expert, but it makes great rice-a-roni with chicken in about an hour and keeps it hot and ready for those who didn't show up exactly at dinner time. I dislike the label they put on it - it doesn't seem to want to come off and will probably make a mess. -1 star for the label!

This does everything I need a thermal cooker to do at a very reasonable price. Cooking using minimal energy, transporting, keeping food hot. I can also put the inner pot in the fridge - it works well as a storage container. Fewer pots and dishes to clean! Also great for cold foods or ice. The base of the cooking section is a stainless disk with a smooth bottom so it will work on a glass-top stove (I would keep the heat on low - my Jenn-Aire runs very hot). I would like to tell Tayama: 1. Thanks for a super thermal cooker at a great price. 2. A detail - we want a label that peels off easily. Most people will try to remove the label. I would buy this thermal cooker again for friends and family. It is a quality product.

I found myself using this cooker more often I thought. It is easy to use and clean. I made porridge with chicken, eggplant with ground turkey in aspicy garlicky sauce and stewed spare-ribs. All came out very good and kept it hot. I found that the porridge was not as soft as I like (done per instruction and I soaked the rice overnight first) and could use another hour longer in the cooker. With this cooker, I don't use my Instant Pot as often as before. I will try to make either stewed pig feet or stewed beef tendon next time.

I had high expectations for this item. Unfortunately it did not meet them. After the second use the plastic clip on the outside that holds the top lid in place broke. Without that plastic clip the whole item is useless. The rest of the item was well-made but the plastic clip makes it useless.

I thought since it's just two of us I did not need the larger thermal cooker. I did not realize that the larger one has two internal pots and this 5 L one only has one. With two pots, you can make smaller amounts in one pot and use the other for boiling water to keep the heat higher within the unit. Additionally, the 5 L does not hold heat as long as the larger one does. Spend a few dollars more, and you will have more options. The cooker works as described, but because of my mistake, I haven't used it often.

Great product. I bought it to keep food warm at an outdoor market and it works perfectly. I liked it so much I ordered one for my home too. It's nice to cook in the included pot, and then put in the outer container so that food remains hot and people can get second helpings without having to heat it up again. Included cooking pot has a lid which makes storing leftovers in the fridge a breeze. It is great at keeping food hot for long periods of time. However I have not yet tested it as a "thermal cooker" but I am sure it does just fine. I ordered other similar items on Amazon but at higher price. This is the one to buy - a great value.

Arrived cracked, and doesn't hold the heat as well as I expect. The shipping box was in great condition, but the product box it came in was damaged and so was the product. So it had been damaged before it was even shipped! I was debating between this and the Saratoga Jacks Thermal Cooker. It looked similar, but was half the price so I went for it. I regret it, it seems like a good design, but if it leaks and doesn't hold heat very well it's not good for much.I've never returned anything on Amazon, so I thought I would just use it and see if it did it's job ok. I'm really disappointed with how quickly it loses heat, and how poor the seal is in the lid, I don't know if it was because the crack and dent is near the seal of the lid or just how the product is. I want to return it, but I hate shipping stuff, and I'm a little lazy. If you are a betting man, you could buy it and hope it works as well as the other reviewers claim, but if you want to play it safe, just save up a little more money and get yourself a thermal cooker that will last.
