Riedel Vinum Cognac/Brandy Glass, Set of 2

These are elegant, impressively thin, perfectly symmetrical, and have a lovely tone. They're also very large, and I found that they actually concentrated the nose of my brut de fut armagnac more than I wanted, so I got some smaller ones that were slightly more open and worked better for my purposes. But if you want maximum nose, perhaps with a milder 40% cognac or similar, these are lovely.

Review of Cognac glasses: When I first opened these I was very surprised to see how big they are - like little goldfish bowls! Before even using them I considered making a return because of the size borders on the absurd and perhaps slightly pompous. If you're looking to make a statement with your spirit stemware, these are for you! I am glad I did venture a try with a recently acquired vintage Armagnac, because I quickly came to understand that their large size is as much functional as it is aesthetic. Since a normal sized portion occupies a fraction of the glass, the bowl allows the aromas (bouquet, if you must) to blossom in the glass. This Armagnac had a wonderful, complex nose that was easily enjoyed from a few feet away, but being a vintage it wasn't blended and thus had a more prominent alcoholic element. The size of the glass was crucial in mitigating this because it's large size, and large rim, avoided concentrating the alcohol to the detriment of the other smells. I can attest that the difference between this and a tumbler I tried for comparison is dramatic. I therefore believe that these are worth the money if you enjoy drinking older brandies that will benefit from the design. They take time and care to clean. I will certainly be keeping them, despite the conspicuous size, for breaking out with special tipples. They are quite thin at the rim, and thus there will always be a risk of breakage. Overall, however, they appear sturdy and sparkling, especially for lead-free crystal. They are a touch overpriced at their current $60 list, so look to acquire at a discount. It's worth the wait for a good product.

These are amazing, beautiful and fancy glasses. They are a little bigger than I expected, but overall great! Be careful though, the glass is thin and fragile.

Wonderful relax drinking experience to enjoy the aroma and taste

Look, cognac drinkers will tell you that these crystal glasses are ridiculously oversized. They're massive and look silly, especially to serious connoisseurs. I'm a casual cognac sipper and I bought a set of these to enjoy around my outdoor fireplace. They make a huge (pun intended) statement whenever I pull them out, and they're a lot of fun to drink out of. Do they help with the flavor of my drink? I don't really know. But they're elegant and very pretty glasses! Note that they are very delicate, so be super careful when washing and drying!

Once you try Riedel you'll never go back. Exquisite. Ultra thin lip. It is fragile, so not suitable for drunken frat parties. I do put mine in the dishwasher, so far without any problems. Perfect for adult beverages.

I purchased these because they were advertised as 8 oz glasses - they actually hold 30 oz. Not what I wanted. So I'll blame the advertising for that. The glasses themselves are extremely thin and fragile - I guess that's good if you want to warm a liquid in your hand. They're easy to hold, however. But one drop and they're goners.

Beautiful, high-quality glasses that really show off the spirit of a good cognac. They are larger than expected and the glass is extremely thin, not that those are issues.
