Thames & Kosmos Optical Science

I'm a homeschooling mom, and I have had many disappointing kits, so this one was very welcome. It had everything I needed, (no stopping right when eager kids are enthralled just to go to the store). I did not need to do everything in the kit first just to see if it worked. Most importantly, it delighted my kids and made them love science right away on our first science class of the semester. I did all of the experiments and only two were less than amazing. I learned how cameras, lenses, light bending, eye physiology, colors and history all work together. Everything worked, which is rare for a product with so many experiments at an inexpensive price.

Good kit.

My 7 year old son is frequently asking if we can do the activities from this optical illusion set. I assemble the pieces together and the booklet gives a brief description how the illusion works. It's fun to see him light up with delight when something unexpected happens.

So fun. Lots to do. Easy to follow!

Disappointed that the kit did not include a prism, a very basic optical item that can teach much about light. In fact, there was nowhere online or on the box that listed the items that were supposed to be enclosed For the cost of the kit, again, a prism would be expected. This is the last Thames & Kosmos kit I will ever buy.

I've selected this item for experiments. When I've got it, I revealed more options for exepriments that it was described on teh site. So, I was surprised! Very good and inetersting item. I'd recommend this item to pupils and teachers.

Purchased this item as a gift and to my surprise it came in a beat up box and was opened! Clearly not new like advertised. Will definitely be returning!

My 10 year old son rated this a '4' because the pieces on the dye cut sheet break too easily. Otherwise, he really likes the kit because it is very educational.
