Great for homeowners
Great for the price. I will say if you're looking for something a little more the 4019 yellow material estimator will do everything this does plus more. But it's double the price. This is. A great little calculator for a homeowner. Can't fault it at all.

Great calculator for woodworking
No regrets on this purchase. Quick and easy to use after you read and understand how to input the numbers and the calculations.

Functions perfectly, hate the battery.
The calculator itself is perfect. It works well at converting feet to inches and so forth. If you work in a trade that requires a lot of measuring, this simple calculator works wonderfully. The buttons are pretty easy to figure out and once you know how to use it it’s quite simple to operate. It’s a good value for the money as the more fancy calculators for my trade run around 60-80 dollars. I would rather buy a more affordable option. The size is convenient and I can carry it in my pocket. As for the cons of this calculator; the battery life is short. It only lasted me, after daily use, 3 solid months before the battery died. For a month or so I didn’t even realize that the calculator won’t turn off on its own, you have to press the off button. So that may have contributed to the battery life, so keep that in mind. The batteries that this calculator uses are not very common either. I couldn’t find them at my local superstore and I had to order online which was inconvenient because I needed the battery replaced the day it died. But the batteries were cheap and I was able to buy a huge pack for about 9 dollars or so.

Great for ship modelers
I build model ships from scratch and I often need to convert full-size dimensions to model-size dimensions and vice versa. I have a special purpose scaling calculator that I bought years ago for this purpose but I wanted a backup just in case it ever dies on me because that one is no longer made. It's very easy to enter feet and inches and is done exactly the way I do it on my scaling calculator. Offset tables on plans are typically shown in feet.inches. eight-inches. So a figure of 4.6.5 means 4 feet, 6 inches, and 5/8 inches. To enter that on the calculator, just enter 4 then Feet then 6 then Inch then 5 slash (/) 8. If you're working at a scale of 3/8"=1', simply divide by 32 and you've got your scale measurement - 1-45/64". Piece of cake. The calculator lets you set the fractional resolution to 1/2", 1/4", 1/8",1/16", 1/32", and 1/64" (Default setting when you get the calculator is 1/16") The resolution remains where you set it even after powering off the calculator but it's very easy to change if you need a different resolution. Instructions are on page 6 of the booklet. There is a pocket in the case for storage of the instruction booklet. My one minor complaint is that it will not convert inches to millimeters or centimeters. Other calculators made by this company will do that, but they are more expensive. Of course, you can always multiply the metric conversion by 100 to get cm or by 1000 to get mm. For example, if you convert 1 foot 3 inches to meters, you'll get .381 meters. That's 38.1 cm or 381 mm. And, of course, divide your metric measurement to get cm or mm then convert to inches. Not that difficult - just a bit less convenient. But for the price, this can't be beat for modelers needing to do scale conversions! The calculator just arrived today, so I can't speak to its longevity.
