Steampunk spicy fit
The quality is great for an every day boot! Comes with sparkles and my 4 year old wears them with most outfits. It’s true to size.

Great boots that needed no break in!
I was coming to NYC for the Half Marathon back in March, and needed a pair of boots for the cool, rainy and possibly snowy NY weather. Since I live in tropical weather, I knew that I should get boots that could be versatile, that I could use in milder weather too, or simply for fashion; and if it got too cold in NY I could fix it by using a pair of merino wool socks. It’s been a while I’ve seen how cute Dr. Marteen’s boots looked, dressed down or up, but then again, for shoes I might wear 6 days a year I wasn’t convinced to go over budget like that. But after checking the sizing for women’s boot in their site, I realized that I could also fit into youth sized, so came to Amazon and found these ones at youth prices 😁. At this point now, my biggest concern was that all Doc Marteens’ reviews mentioned the painful, but worth it, break in process for these, with the race coming up ahead. Fortunately, my desire to look good won me over, crossed my fingers and purchased these. I am SO glad I did! I used them every single day at NY: went to pick up my race bib and strolled around the city the first day wearing these, and I just felt amazingly comfortable all day long. Wore them the next day, and the next, and the next… I can just simply say I ❤️ my boots. For reference, my feet are slim; since I fall in a half size I sized up instead of down and that did the trick. Also, I used mid-cushion merino socks and my feet were warm enough at windy 30+ degrees. The toe box felt ample, but not wiggly; the foot bed is very cushioned and so are the insides. I chose to not lace up fully, but up until the 5th hole, and then do like a ballerina wrap around and lace in the front, which not only looks good but also allowed my ankle to have a little freedom. The side zippers slide easily and stay securely closed when up. And the sole was sturdy to stroll out on the streets, bumpy sidewalks, the many stairs in and out of the subway, and didn’t make any squishy sounds indoors. To top it off, my feet were never hurt, which was a huge concern looking forward to running my half marathon (which I PB’d) without sore feet, or after the race. These boots treated my post run sored feet really gently, and allowed me to enjoy more of the city the couple days after. I’m very glad with my decision. I could probably fit one size down as well, which in boots, a little smaller looks cuter, but that would have needed some break-in which I could not afford. So, if you are an adult that fit in the youth sized Dr. Marteens (use the EU size for better reference) go ahead and pamper yourself with these great shoes at a much affordable price point. You will not be disappointed.

Still look close to new after a year of heavy use.
Almost gave four stars instead of five because in less than a year, the sole is separating on one of them. It can easily be glued back together so not a real problem. Otherwise I love them. I can put them on in the morning and not take them off till bedtime. It takes 3 min to lace them up, and almost 2 min to get them off, but that's 5 min a day well spent. I don't ever use shoes, I always wear boots. I had wanted a tall boot that would look good when wearing shorts without having any socks showing above the boots. Had tried some that were about 8 to 10 inches tall, but they looked kind of "dinky" on my tall frame with long legs, and, therefore, didn't really create a masculine look. Tried some super tall "lineman's boots, but they were way too tall (almost to knees) and looked rather odd if worn with a short pant, so they were only used with long pants. I saw these 14 eye extra tall Dr. Martins and correctly thought they would be the perfect look that I wanted and they were. They had the side benefit of being very comfortable, and beyond that feeling very good, like you really don't even want to take them off. As for size, depending on the brand, I use either 11 or 12 (USA sizing), and initially ordered 11. it fit and felt ok at first but started hurting the toes after a couple hours. I gave them to my son and ordered a size 12. It fit perfectly. Mine are the "made in China" version, can't even find this style in a UK made, but the quality is very good and after a year of wear, they still look close to new, the soles are barely worn and the leather isn't scuffed up in spite of working on my car in them, crawling around inside aircraft at work, doing yard work with them, and generally giving them a workout through my normal activities.

VERY happy with these!
******Update 6/19/14 - I have, quite literally, worn these every day since I bought them 5 months ago...and they look and feel as great as the day I opened them! Every 2 weeks or so I have treated them to a nice buff of Wonder Balsam and that has keep them water resistant and given a nice sheen to the Napa leather. I really can't tell you how much I love these boots. It would break my heart if they stopped making the Napa leather version, which is why I'm back here looking to buy an identical pair as back-ups lol. These boots are awesome :)******* (Original Review - 1/24/14) I was concerned reading the reviews that the new breed of China-made Doc's would be far inferior to the English made originals. However my stompy-boot-lusting won out and my Amazon order was placed. I opted for the nappa leather and hoped the softer leather would ease the pain of the notorious break-in period. Well, these babies arrived and I was so stoked that I put them on still standing in my doorway. Aaahhh....love! So squishy and smooth, yet tough, thick leather. All stitching is evenly sewn, nice and straight. I am a bit OCD when it comes to this sort of thing and after inspecting these all over I can find no issues whatsoever. I am a womens size 8.5 with a slightly wide foot, so I opted for the men's version of these (UK7/Mens8/Womens9) thinking the extra width in the mens vs. the womens version would be good and I'm very happy I did so....they fit nice. I had bought a pair of insoles here on Amazon with this purchase thinking this would help if they were too big and found I didn't even need them, the fit was good without them. Sure, if they offered half sizes I may have gone a half size down, but it's nothing a thick pair of socks doesn't remedy....so no biggie. So I've been wearing them a week now...everyday....put them on at 5:30 a.m. before I leave for work and don't take them off until around 7:00 p.m. No pain, no drama...just super comfy boots that are breaking in beautifully. I'm already thinking of what color I'll get my next pair in because I can't see myself wanting to wear any other shoes but these for awhile :)

Great fit, pretty comfortable, slight issue after a few years though
These are still my favorite boots but I have an issue where one of them has a bump/gap under the insole, so even after replacing the insoles it still feels like there's something stuck in my boot. They did last a few years before this happened, but it's still a bit disappointing (I bought another pair of the slip-on Dr Martens boots that wound up having the same issue - maybe it's just my feet, but none of my other shoes or any boots I've owned have had that problem). It's not too noticeable after a while but it's still really uncomfortable, sometimes if I wear thick socks it's not as bad, but if the socks are too thick it's way worse (also weirdly enough, it's less noticeable when I wear thinner socks, usually if I have the laces tied a bit loosely). Still, they're pretty solid boots and given how long I had them before this issue started I'd say they're worth the price. I might have to go to a repair shop or cobbler at some point to get them fixed, which could cost about the same as a new pair, but I'd say that's worth it since it won't produce any more waste compared to just buying a new pair, and since it can take so long to break in a new pair. The sizing is pretty standard but I'd try on a pair in a store first just to be sure, I usually wear sizes 11-12 depending on the brand but I had to get a size 10 for this pair (which is still a bit snug everywhere else but not too bad if I loosen the laces - I got a size 11 for the slip-ons but I usually wear thicker socks with those and only use them in the winter).

Perfect!
So in love! I bought a big kids 6 and they fit my size 8 foot perfectly. I really like the zipper because I've had a stroke and shoes that tie are a challenge.

No more rolled ankles!
I’ve wanted Doc’s since I was a teenager and we could never afford them. Obviously, back then, it was a trend thing. Now that I’m getting up there in age and have since been diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder, I needed some boots that would stabilize my ankles because I roll them multiple times a day, they’re prone to dislocate, and they always just hurt. My fiancé bought me these as a mother’s day gift because he knew I needed them, as well as how bad I’ve always wanted them. I put them on yesterday when they got here and they have been a dream! They are very true to size as well, I’ve kept them on to get them broken in. This is one thing that’s important to note with the classic Smooth Leather; they must be broken in! They’re going to be tight around the tongue stitching, especially if you have high arches, which I do. But you need to just put on some thick socks and suck it up. You can also stick full soda cans down in them when you’re not wearing them. Another thing that will help is shoe polish. Real shoe polish, not one of those quick clean sponges. If you have a hypermobility issue, I highly recommend them! Or, if you just have to be on your feet a lot, because they are incredibly comfortable and cause no foot/leg fatigue. I can’t wait to be able to go do things again that I wasn’t able to do because of my ankles!

Great boots
Bought these in large size knowing that Doc 1460's are unisex but these were cheaper since they are labeled "women's" and I suppose there are not many women who wear a size 13. I like the 'snowplow' bottom over regular Doc's bottoms even though it never snows where I live. I work in construction management and wear these daily at job sites with all imaginable conditions, mud being most common. I came back to this brand because I was sick of soles wearing out and remembered that Doc's in the 90's never wore through the sole, glad it is still the same. Still look great too. While the original bottoms are great, these have more grip on slippery surfaces and seem to be just as durable. I have had these several months now and the little dimples on the treads are just barely wearing off on the edges and center whereas other brands I have bought (Clark's, Rockport, Georgia) would usually be 1/4-1/2 worn off at 6 months. These are more comfortable as well (Rockport chukka boots being a tie in comfort and Clark's being terrible). I didn't realize they had a liner when I ordered, but it is much thinner then the leather so I don't think it makes much difference temperature wise, it DOES however make sliding my for in much easier and prevents leather staining my socks as well as making the boot more comfortable with no chafe. Only complaint is I pulled the tag out of one while putting it on, these aren't super heavy duty loops anyway, and nbd. 9.8/10 will buy again in several years when they wear out eventually.
