quite sturdy
Assembly was a bit of a challenge due to the small diagrams on the directions. Once I figured out what went where it went together rather easily. I do like the easel for it's adjustability and sturdiness. The case that came with mine was intact and seemed to be quite durable. The carrying pockets on the outside of the case are quite handy.

Easy to assemble.
I don’t know why I was expecting it to be small. But it’s bigger than I thought. I bought it for my boyfriend so he can paint wherever he likes. Outside, inside. He loved it. Adjusts to any size you’d like. Also comes with a carry bag to keep it in, if you don’t have the space to keep it up which is another reason I bought it. Good quality !

Set up as soon as it arrives.
Couldn’t put it together. Asked 2 others to help but they had no luck. Said it seemed that part of the wooden leg was cut wrong. I should have returned it but I felt I had wasted enough time trying to set it up. I purchased it for a weekend of plain air painting in Nova Scotia. Also wasted time and $ because I didn’t have a working easel.

Well made
I’m not mechanically inclined.. I found the directions frustrating… I basically used the picture on the box!! It was missing a strap . I used a bungee. Once I get used to setting it up/breaking it down - it will be simple . The wood is nice- rubber feet for outdoor use … case is great - with 2 outside pockets for paints and brushes… I look forward to setting it up AND using it!!!

Too fiddly
Ok, here's what I liked: The carrying bag The look of the wood The sturdiness The wide range of canvas sizes that it can hold Here's what I don't like: It's fidgety to put up. This may have gotten easier to do with more practice. But to put the shelf on you need to take some of the black knobs all the way off, risking the chance of dropping them and losing them. If you are using this easel in a studio and have less set up each time you paint, then this probably isn't an issue. I'm looking for an easel for plein air painting, though, so spending so much time fiddling with it wasn't convenient. The shelf. I specifically bought this one instead of others because of the shelf! But getting it set correctly is one issue, and it's not very deep, so I was limited on what I could use the shelf for. This is a small complaint...it was fine. Just not as functional as I'd ideally like. The wood. This is the biggest one. And it isn't "the wood" exactly... it's the mechanics. Things don't glide into place. The worst part was the piece at the top that slides down to hold the top of the canvas. It was only a matter of time before that part broke because of how ungracefully it slides. I mean, it doesn't slide! The second worse part was the bar that holds the canvas. That whole bar can raise and lower...which could be awesome! But in reality you have to loosen the entire structure of the easel to move that one piece, and again: it doesn't glide well. And forcing it just meant that it was only a matter of time until something broke. The wood is ok, but not hard and quality enough to deal with having to force pieces to move. In summary: I really like the look and basic idea of this easel. I bought it because it was the nicest budget-friendly one that I found. Unfortunately, it isn't nice enough to make the savings worth it. I'm going to return it & save up my pennies to get one that is more functional for my needs.

Nice and tall. The instructions were a bit confusing but eventually you can figure it out. Seems stable enough and easy to adjust
