Great little tool for runners
I've had the Garmin Forerunner 110 for about a month, enough time to know the good and the not-so-good. And the good is very, very good.It takes a minute or two to find satellites (I'm in a very populated suburb a few miles outside a big city) but then it stays locked on. The display is big and clear and contains all the information I really need -- distance, time, heart rate, calories, average pace for the current lap -- without being big or bulky. I can switch from autolap to manual lap depending on my run. Menu functions are easy and intuitive. The buttons are responsive and it's easy to scroll through screens. I've had other watches that I gave up on because they were just too complicated to use.My one gripe is the charger/clip for uploading data. It is very finicky to get it seated just so. And even then my computer will take a while to recognize it. Not a deal breaker overall, but still a bit annoying and worth a 1-star deduction to me since I upload data every evening. To respond to issues raised in some other reviews:1. Yes, you CAN turn it off to save battery power. Push and hold the "light" button (top left hand button). This is clearly stated in the manual.2. The "average pace" that it displays is not the average for the entire run. It is the average pace for the current lap -- which you can set to as little as every .25 miles.3. Someone commented that there's no logical start/stop function. It's the button marked "Start/Stop".

Functions flawlessly.
This was an Amazon deal of the day a few weeks ago, which was perfect, since I had been in the market for an entry level GPS watch. For comparison, I had also considered the Nike+ Sportwatch and the Timex Ironman Run Trainer. I opted against the Nike+ offering because it uses TomTom GPS (inferior, in my experience) and because I'd read numerous complaints about the Nike+ website. The Timex actually seemed like a great watch, but it was significantly more expensive. This one seemed like it had all the features I needed at an incredibly cheap price, so I pulled the trigger on the red striped men's version. Note: I've read complaints about the watch dying after Garmin's warranty ends, so I placed the purchase on my AMEX card (which extends the warranty a year). The package arrived with everything described. The heart rate monitor seemed a little bulky, but I wasn't planning on using it anyway, so I set it aside. The first thing I noticed was the size of this watch. I had borrowed a friend's older Garmin, which was like wearing a brick (or one of the old Dick Tracy video watches)... it was huge. This, in comparison, is only slightly bigger than a normal watch (and smaller than some of the large face watches that men wear nowadays). It fit VERY comfortably on my wrist. You could easily wear this around as a regular wristwatch. The watch itself performs flawlessly. It takes maybe 20-30 seconds for me to pick up a GPS signal, but unless I run into a building or a parking garage, it doesn't seem to lose the signal at all. The watch data uploads easily via USB to Garmin's website, which is simple and easy to use. And the GPS data is usually very accurate (other than altitude, which is often way off). I've been able to share my plotted runs with my running partners, which has helped us with our marathon training. So far, I'm exceedingly happy with my purchase.

Same quality issues as everbody else
When this watch works, it is a fantastic device that provides accurate pacing and logging of run splits. However, the reliability apparently is extremely poor. My first watch lasted about 4 months before I started having problems. One of the contacts corroded and the unit would not hold a charge. It would indicate full charge when I disconnected from the charger, but would only last 30 minutes to an hour on a run.My second unit lasted about 30 days before total failure. That unit now displays a blank screen and does not appear to power on. I suspect the problem is the unit has very poor water resistance, and inevitable as a runner you will sweat or take this out in the rain. Perhaps enclosing the unit it a plastic zipper bag will increase the lifespan of the unit, but that just seems silly.

Overall...ok.
I have now had this forerunner unit for just under 2 years. Overall it is a nice product. The size is not overly large on smaller wrists and it provides the key functions that I needed for running (Pace, Heart rate, Distance). I have found the GPS to be very good with the initial signal grab taking around 1 minute. It is also a good looking watch (which is good for at least 20/sec per mile!). The light is very bright and makes it very visible in low light conditionsNow for the not as good. (1) The alligator clips used to charge the unit are very finicky and have to be attached "just so" or it will not charge or synch. The charging platform for the Forerunner 10 is much better and easier to connect (I also have a Forerunner 10). (2) The unit often freezes and needs to be rebooted. This does not happen during runs but happens generally when you are trying to synch data or just charging (and then it will not charge which you find out right before you want to head out on a run.......) (3) The unit does not have an auto pause feature which would be handy running in a metro environment where streetlights are a constant stop/go driver. I did contact Garmin regarding the units frequency of freezing and they halfheartedly gave me some things to try but seemed to indicate that was part of normal operation and instructed me on the reboot process..... (4) While this does have the ability to be used for riding, it is cumbersome at best.As I said, overall it is a nice product however I think the competition (including internal competition) has overtaken this unit. The Forerunner 15 seems to be replacing this unit at a better price point and has all the same features. I would look to that before purchasing this unit again.

My third Forerunner
Well this is my third Forerunner. I had a 301 which was good but the size was a bit... we'll say clunky. Then I had a 405 but the battery died and the touch bezel turned out to be a nightmare. Talk about accidental "clicks".The 110 is my favourite so far. It's really lightweight. It's not overloaded with features I don't need or use. It tracks GPS route, heartrate, distance, time, and elevation. I upload the data to Garmin's Connect site so I can visually see my walks. So far the battery is lasting good, the only thing I'll say is the battery life of the 301 is unreal, but it's also many times larger than this. I like that the 110 is more discrete and lighter, so far I'm happy with my purchase. Give it a try!

This is a relatively basic but very effective GPSwatch, I have been using mine for 10Ks
This is a relatively basic but very effective GPS watch, I have been using mine for 10Ks, half marathons, and obstacle course races (where I routinely get it absolutely filthy) without issues for around 4 years. The only complaint I have is that the charging clip is a little finicky to use but this is not a big issue at all in the grand scheme of things. The online portal for uploading/tracking your results (Garmin Connect) has had its issues over the years but is SIGNIFICANTLY improved these days and compares very favourably to competing solutions feature for feature.

Works well but the charger design could be better
This product is good for keeping track of mileage when running or cycling. But the charger is very finicky and you have to fight with it every time you charge the unit.

I love it! Fantastic Product.
I have been using it for nearly a month now and it is a fantastic tool, the mapping on it is pretty accurate and is such an easy product to use. It's pretty much a working out of the box item though the internet setup is a little long I didn't mind.

Garmin Forerunner 110
Love this product, I find the heart rate monitor is a bit tight for an accurate reading, it makes it hard to take a deep breath when running. Battery life could be better. I only run 15 to 25 kilometers per week and I am always plugging in the watch to be charged. It's a bit big but I love all the information it gives! Great for a runner that just wants a simple watch for time distance pace calories burne and heart rate. Easy to upload to view runs also on garmin connect.
