Pretty easy to use out of the box
When I opened up the package, I saw all these parts and thought it needed assemby but actually it comes with extra brushes and filters (and also 2 virtual wall activators, charging base and cord, brush cleaning tools, and of course manual and quick setup instructions) but has a brush and filter already installed so only needs to be charged prior to use. When I placed in the charging base it showed it was charging but after a while when I looked it was green like it was done already but since manual recommended overnight charging, didn't want to use it yet. But later in the day I wanted to give it a try and it had already been green for several hours I turned it on by pressing the clean button and it took off. It kind of rotated as I guess it surveyed the room then started moving in its random pattern through the room but then started approaching one of several glue traps I had laid out around my apartment, I panicked and pressed the clean button again and luckily that seemed to pause it and I brought it back to the base where it immediately started charging again. A few days later I made sure to remove glue traps and let it run freely, it moved in random directions so I wonder if it misses spots but keeps on moving around the whole area so probably gets to missed areas later on, it went under couch and under coffee table turns around when it hit walls or furniture but also moves along walls then moved to kichen on its own and was able to get over the little raised strip in between tiles and wood, couldn't quite get under cabinet but can see side sweeping brush brushing debris in those areas forward so that they can get suctioned. Had a little trouble getting between chairs on dining set but if I turn them so that it can move between the 2 front legs where opening wider than between side legs, it can clean under them. It kept going from living room to kitchen/dining area, I was wondering why it didn't move towards hallway to bedroom. I think it might have started to at one point then bumped into a box and turn around and not go back there again so I paused it and picked it up and placed it in front on that hall and it started cleaning that little area. I had the doors closed so didn't enter rooms. I then brought it into bathroom and closed door to keep in in and it moved around the larger area but too big to get in between sink and tub and sink and toilet. I have a U shaped rug by toilet not very thick, it vacuumed that alright but I also have a mat by the tub thats like a thin towel rather than a rug and that was getting caught I guess because it's very light so can be suctioned up but it wasn't damaged or anything just don't think it got cleaned well as the roomba couldn't move over the whole thing since it was sucking it up. Last I did my bedroom, cleared out boxes under the bed and lamps and it moved around freely, went under the bed and the larger dresser, think the opening between the legs of the other dresser may be took narrow, don't remember seeing it go under there. I turned on spot clean in the area where I do my hair as that's where there's the most hair on the floor on also residue from hair products. It moved in the spiral that got bigger but I didn't feel it was going over the whole area I wanted. it was spiraling and moving forward whereas I wanted it to reach areas behind where I placed it so I paused it and moved it back then turned on spot clean again to get the other part. The dirt compartment looked like it picked up a lot, I was thinking maybe I should empty it before starting bedroom but I didn't and seemed like I still cleaned fine. I emptied it out after finishing whole apartment. Looked at the directions but had a bit of trouble figuring out how to get the actual filter out after taking out dirt compartment but got it. Had a bit of trouble getting the yellow tabs lifted (maybe I was being too light touched tovavoid breaking anything) and then getting the brushes back in. Doesn't really specify how to feel the rubber brush without the bristles, I should used paper towel to wipe it which didn't get all the dust but at least no hair caught. I removed front wheen from vaccum but couldn't take the wheel apart as described so just cleaned exterior and pulled out visible caught hair. Didn't say if side sweeping wheel removable but it has yellow bearing and manual says yellow barings meant for removal but looked like maybe I would need screwdriver so I just pulled out the hair as best as I could without removing it (noticed later it does show side sweep brush can be removed in the battery removal part of manual). Whole thing looked a little dusty, maybe from hitting dusty furniture and moving under furniture so wiped it all around with dry paper towel but I think microfiber cloth would be better. Overall I think it did a good job, bathroom will still need separate cleaning due to hard to reach areas, may need to physically move it to make sure it gets to all the spots, cleaned whole apartment without needing to be recharged, have yet to try programming it to autorun on schedule, I like that I can pause it, cleanup not too bad and if used frequently probably will have less to clean out each time. I tried using dock button when it wasn't too far from charging base but there was furniture in between, it went under the table and Ibwas worried it would try to run over the wires that were in between but instead it went in opposite direction and under another piece of furniture where it seemed like itcwas having trouble getting out but once it moved out I just paused it and brought it to the base myself.

Fantastic product, especially if you have shedding pets.
I love this product. I have two large German Shepherd dogs that seem to shed year 'round. I've had hairy dust bunnies and various strengths of dog smell in the house as long as I can remember - even when I had a maid weekly - until I started using this Roomba. No more hair floating around and friends have said they can't smell the dogs anymore when they are over. I'd recommend this to anyone and would buy it again if this one breaks.Great out of box experience, and mine came with two each of light walls, brushes, beaters and filters, along with a base station and some cleaning tools for the brush and beater. I have a medium to cluttered home with some rooms carpeted, some hard wood, various kinds of tile and some hardwood with one or more area rugs. The Roomba has no issues transitioning between surfaces, although sometimes it takes a few passes to reach a good angle to climb up to an area rug. I have some dark area rugs - another reviewer mentioned issues with dark rugs, but I didn't observe any problems with mine.Onboard scheduling means I can clean my downstairs overnight while I'm sleeping. I wish I could schedule multiple cleanings a day, but it appears to limit schedules to 7 ... one per day. I'd prefer to put the Roomba in the middle of the downstairs and use light walls to section off which half is cleaned - one during the day while I'm at work and one overnight, and still go back to the base station to charge afterwards. However, you can get around this by constantly changing the time of day or manually kicking off a clean, but it is a hassle.Battery life seems fantastic, as I can get multiple rooms cleaned without charging (manually cleaning and moving between rooms), and recharging on the base is pretty quick. I haven't tried directly plugging into the Roomba, so I don't know if that offers a different experience. It is too easy to just push the dock button and have the Roomba seat correctly in the dock. With all the dog hair and some sewing leavings in the work rooms, and I have long hair, I tend to clean the brush and beater every other cleaning, and I empty the catcher and filter each cleaning. A small price to pay for not hauling out a heavy vacuum and doing it myself. Friends with Roombas have said it, in their opinion, extends the useful life of the parts to keep those pretty clean. If I think there are long-ish threads on the floor, I'll take even greater care with cleaning, as I've seen thread wrap around multiple parts of the Roomba and catch or block them from functioning correctly.I've had some issues with the light walls - the Roomba mostly obeys them but sometimes will pass by and then get caught outside the area I wanted to clean. I'm not sure what the issue is there, but it is kind of irritating. The pattern of cleaning means not every place in your room will be cleaned each time (my observation), but since I do the cleaning regularly, it gets everything within a few cleanings. As I mentioned, two shedding dogs are a lot to keep up with, and I'm extraordinarily pleased with how clean everything is. I have changed around some of my rooms to allow the Roomba better access - no more cords on the floor where the Roomba can eat them (RIP iPhone cable), no more organizing papers on the floor (they ended up spread across two rooms) and also I move some chairs around the kitchen table occasionally to make sure everything underneath is reachable. It looks less cluttered now and helps everything stay clean. If you have a lot of things piled on the floor, the Roomba may not be able to get between them and your cleaning will be less effective. This is my First Roomba, but after seeing how well it works, I'm considering getting the Scooba for the hardwood and tile floors. Anything to keep up with the dirt, especially when I don't have to babysit it.
