LifeProof FRE iPhone 5/5s Waterproof Case - Retail Packaging - YELLOW/BLACK (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

I was going to rate this with 4-stars because there are definitely some cons to the case, but most of them become trivial little complaints when the pros of the case are taken into consideration. Let me start of first by saying this is, hands down, the most impressive iPhone case I've ever purchased. I'm a general contractor, so my line of work entails exposure to many elements that are hazardous to the well-being of a cellphone: dust, water, moisture, drops, bangs, etc. I'm relieved to say that this case has held up to all of it. From being dropped off of a 12-foot ladder, dropped into a bucket full of partially-mixed floor grout, left out in the rain for an hour, and exposed to hours of sawdust and construction dust. Nothing has fazed this case in the least and the only signs of damage are a few nicks on the back corners and some slight scratches on the screen protector. And best of all: I've gotten all of this protection from a case that doesn't make my phone much bulkier than a naked iPhone 5s. You absolutely can not beat having total protection AND a sleek, ergonomic design.Now, there ARE a few things that I found a little less than pleasant about the case, but like I said previously, they're rather trivial when you factor in the protection and reliability of this case. One of the most useful features of the 5s is the fingerprint sensor that allows you to quickly bypass your lock code/app store password. The Lifeproof case employs a small membrane cover that retains the functionality of the sensor, but because the membrane doesn't always sit firmly and uniformly over the sensor, it sometimes takes two or three attempts for your fingerprint to properly register. A bit of a hassle, yes, but nothing nearly detrimental enough to be deterrent.Another thing is that the speaker sound suffers a slight volume reduction and the sound quality appears a bit compressed. It's still loud enough to hear clearly, but it's not as boisterous as the phone speaker sans case (with that being said, I feel that I should note that the earpiece does not suffer a noticeable difference in volume, nor does the other party notice a difference in voice quality/volume).My last complaint is probably the most trivial, given my personal pattern of usage. The lifeproof case is equipped with a small, screw-in bit that protects and waterproofs the bottom headphone jack. It takes a little bit of finger strength to both screw-in and unscrew the bit, which is definitely a hassle. As an added frustration, the only way to connect headphones is through a screw-in adapter that comes with the case, which means if you're out and about and the adapter is at home, no headphones for you. Like I said, that's trivial given my pattern of use because I very, very rarely use headphones on my phone. I have an iPod for when I'm not at work. Though, I can see this being the source of a great deal of aggravation to a more casual user that often uses headphones.It all comes down to user preference in the end, though. With total protection and a sleek design comes drawbacks and annoyances. I feel as though the cons of this case are a small price to pay for what this case has to offer, for I've never had a phone case that I felt as confident with as this one. If any of my listed cons were a deal-breaker for you, perhaps you should re-evaluate whether or not you ACTUALLY need this case. There's plenty of cases out there that offer ease-of-access through a lesser protective design. As for me, though, this case has gone above and beyond the protection I had hoped for and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone that is in a similar line of work as me, or needs the same phone protection that I do.

I upgraded to an iPhone 5S after years of resisting the smart phone trend and using an old fashioned flip phone instead. After my old reliable flip phone started acting funny, I used the upgrade I had coming to purchase the iPhone 5S. Out of the box, my iPhone felt too small and thin...I really didn't like the feel of it while holding it without a case on it. I had seen many of the competing cases on the market for this phone and found them to be too bulky to easily put in my shirt pocket where I normally carry it. I also liked the idea of having a case that made my phone waterproof, since I with my job I never know what I am going to get into.I ordered the Lifeproof Fre case in OD Green and received it several days later. It was a much better deal than buying it in brick and mortar store, almost half the price. I opened the packaging, followed the well written and easy to understand instructions on how to test the waterproofing of the case. After that, I put my new expensive and fragile iPhone into the Lifeproof case and have been using it now for close to 6 months.The case looks good and has an appropriate size that feels very good in my hands. It isn't as bulky as some others, and it easily fits in my front shirt pocket. The back of the case is made of a hard plastic and the front has a slight rubbery coating on it. This rubbery front is not the kind that grips and hangs onto clothing making it difficult to extract from a pocket, it instead slips easily into and out of pockets without causing that grief. I have no difficulties using the phone with the case on, the screen is responsive and clear through the covering. The home button can even read you fingerprint through the protective layer over it, meaning you don't have to type in your code to unlock it, just push the home button with your programmed finger.The case protects my phone quite well. I have dropped it on several occasions from varying heights onto concrete, brick, and asphalt. The phone has received no damage from this, and the case has only minor scratches that don't show very much. When the phone has gotten greasy from my fingers, I wipe it off or run it under the faucet for a second then dry it off. Very convenient especially if you might be prone to dropping food on your phone. Makes cleanup easy.The only downside I have heard anybody voice is that the sound quality while talking on the phone with the case on is rather poor. I have not noticed this, as I have no trouble hearing what people on the other end of the line are saying whenever I have used it. But I primarily use the phone for text, internet browsing, and some gaming...not talking.Compared to other cases, I would not purchase anything else. The size, durability, and waterproofing are a sure win in my mind.

This the 3rd case that I have gotten from lifeproof. I've had my phone for two years. The first case lasted almost a year and it wasn't completely worn out yet but I gave it to someone else to use and put a new one on. That second one got treated a lot rougher and so it was almost completely falling apart by the time I took it off. I've loved all of these cases. They are sturdy and very protective. My phone is 2 years old and looks brand new when I take it out of the case. I can't say for how much I trust these cases to be completely waterproof. I water tested my first one and it held but I've not tested the other two. I don't submerge my phone ever just because why would I need to? But that being said I've definitely let it get pretty wet in the rain and other elements and I've never had any problems with moisture getting in. The one thing that is somewhat annoying but not really fixable is that the rubber around the outside breaks down and becomes softer over time and with more use. Also I work in the healthcare field and my phone rides around in my scrub pants all day long which seems to have aged my last case a lot faster. But as far as this case it feels great, fits great, looks awesome! I will probably never have anything other than a lifeproof case on my phone.

Best cases on the market and worth the expenditure if you wish to protect what are very expensive phones - brilliant and well worth every penny!!

Contrary to some of the reviews, this is a great product. This is the third fre case I have owned for iPhone 5, first one was definitely fake, second one was bought in John Lewis, so definitely genuine, and now this one-which is better than the one I had from John Lewis. Dropped in Bath, dropped down car park stairs, this case is great insurance.

Worked well for its intended purpose. I wanted to be able to take under water photos and video with my iPhone. Got the added bonus of just being able to keep my phone with me while in the water and floating down the river. Was able to take photos and video under water while snorkelling and swimming/floating. Phone was kept dray and protected.It would be nice to have a means to attach a wrist strap. was alway edgy while snorkelling that the phone would slip out of my hands or get knocked out by another swimmer. Also not sure how long the membrane over the fingerprint button will last before it is compromised.Phone was clean and dry when I opened the case after vacation. Make sure you follow the instructions and I would not expect this case to last a long time for its waterproof capability.

Besoin de parler de l'efficacité de Lifeproof? Une semaine en dériveurs dans de l'eau salée et mon iPhone est toujours vivant! De plus, pas de problème d'audition des interlocuteurs lors d'appel, ce qui est la cas avec d'autres housse étanche!Par contre, la livraison qui devait arriver durant la semaine un jeudi ou vendredi n'est arrivée que le lundi d'après, 1er jour où j'en avais besoin, autant vous dire que si je n'avais pas pris du retard lors du départ et que le facteur n'était pas passé avant, j'aurais bien moins rigolé et aurais mis une moins bonne note!
