American Girl Crafts Dog Sew and Stuff Activity Kit, DIY Dog Stuffed Animals

My 5 year old daughter bought this for herself. She needed me to show her how to do knots a couple of times, but once she got it, she was able to do the project mostly by herself. She doesn't read well, so I had to help her through the instructions and occasionally show her how to hold pieces together while sewing, but she did 90% all alone! I think depending on the age of the child, and how ambitious they are (ours is very much so) this would be good for someone between 5 and 10 years old.

this was more of a project for an adult then a child. small fingers are hard to thread the needle. it was an OK project but certainly not able to do by herself.

I bought this for my ten year old daughter for Christmas she just loved it. We had a wonderful afternoon of sewing together. It was a perfect project to introduce sewing to her. We worked on the large dog about 3/4 together but then I let her finish the rest without any guidance from me. My daughter was so proud and excited when she finished them both up that she took them to play with her American girls. I would definitely would buy them again.

Very cute idea. Pieces did not match up and the needle was impossible to thread even for myself much less a child. Had to go buy a bigger needle

I did this with my 4 yr old so she's still young for this product. However, we did it together. I punched bigger holes using the crop-a-dile hole puncher for punching thru felt and I used my own thread and plastic needle. I did the inside and my daughter sewed the outside with help. The bigger holes I punched made it a lot easier. It's a cute and I loved doing it with my daughter. She loved that she sewed it all by herself.

Do not buy! Not for children eight or under, even my grandma had trouble! Needs a lot of adult assistance. We were very disappointed and ended up throwing the entire kit away.

This project was a flop. The needles sent in the package were roo small for the thick thread that was included. The pieces for both dogs are mixed together in 1 bag. The direction are decent but this project was still too difficult for my inexperienced 8 year old. After the project was done or should I say I was done with it. The final product was cute. I bought it hoping to speak her interest in sewing but I think it did the opposite.

I have two girls, age 6 & 8, and they both loved this activity. They were able to complete it with minimal involvement from me. I helped thread needles and showed them how to line it up. They really enjoyed making these. A great beginning sewing activity. We ordered an additional one as a gift for a classmate.
