Better than described
I imagine these are sort of the luck of the draw. Mine came from Integrated Recycling Technologies, which I think was a different vendor than listed when I ordered it. The unit could just about pass for brand new. It actually was equipped with 16 GB (single stick) RAM, rather than the 8 GB advertised. It included an OEM HP 65 watt power supply. It included the optional third port, which in this case was a VGA port. It includes the OEM WiFi card. Another bonus was that the included keyboard and mouse are a wireless Logitech MK235 combo. It started up right away at the Windows 10 installation screen. This is a clean install of Windows 10, with no bloatware other than a trial copy of Office from Microsoft (which is optional to install). After enabling TPM in the BIOS, I was able to install Windows 11 (by visiting the Microsoft website to upgrade). What's not included? Mine lacked a hard drive caddy and the SATA cable, along with the screws that would secure it. This is not really needed given that there is a second M2 SSD socket; however, there is no screw to hold a second M2 drive--you'll have to find one. The unit itself runs fast and stays cool. It boots in just a couple seconds. It seems solid and very well built. The fan is only just barely audible. It seems just as speedy as the most recent, high end models, at least for routine tasks that most will use it for. If I had to describe anything negative, they would be trivial. Without an external antenna, WiFi reception is weak. (for example, it would not receive a signal in a place where a Raspberry Pi 4 does. ) However, there are ports to easily add external antennas. As for being "renewed," I think that's questionable (other than having the hard drive wiped and the system reset). The mother board battery did not appear to have been replaced. There was a very thin layer of dust inside and on the fan blades of the CPU cooler that could be easily blasted off with canned air (the point being that if it were renewed, it would take all but a second or two to do this). It was pack well and shipped by FedEx, which I think must use hamsters because I could track its glacial progress across the northern tier of states, arriving several days after the last expected day and with Amazon tracking data showing each day that it was due by 8pm. I was easily able to create a dual boot system and install Home Assistant on a second drive I placed into the M2 slot and turn it into a dedicated Home Assistant server, running Hassio OS. In fact, being able to boot into Windows made it simple. I could download the new OS in Windows and flash it onto the new drive with balenaEtcher. Flashing formatted the new disk, as well. I then changed the boot drive order in the BIOS, checked the box to allow “legacy,” and set the option to automatically reboot in the event of power failure. This is a good option to consider in place of a NUC, generic Chinese NUC, or Raspberry Pi. Home Assistant is significantly faster than on the latter, it’s not much more expensive, and it’s very solid physically and robust.

Did not come refurbished (edited!)
After receiving the item and dealing with the fact that it was not HDMI compatible, I booted it up and got a screen that asked me to sign in to my Capitol One corporate email account. Seems as though it was not refurbished as was promised. Amazon is currently sending me a replacement, so if the replacement turns out to be in good working order and thoroughly refurbished, I will update/change my review*, but I felt this should be known. Be aware that this item has a chance of coming to you without proper refurbishment. And those of you who turn in your old HP Elitedesks, also beware; had a hacker gotten their hands on this, it most likely would have been to easy to hack into the old system in some way. This is especially frightening given the fact that this particular mini-desktop originally belonged to a financial institution. I want to thank Amazon for their speedy resolution to this matter thus far, but I must say: the person or people responsible for the refurbishment of this device need to be reviewed and maybe even removed. This was extremely unprofessional and disappointing. (*Edit: Amazon delivered a replacement to me which was newer and better than the first one they delivered. Set up was easy, and now my husband and I have a home computer for the first time in years. I appreciate and commend Amazon's swiftness in resolving the matter efficiently and thoroughly. The device works quite well and is very fast! I highly recommend as long as they send you the right one.)

Good little machine.
I bought this as a secondary computer for research, browsing, watching movies, writing reviews... Just normal computer use. This computer is great for the price. I will say that if you plan to do any gaming or video editing type stuff look somewhere else this is not what it is designed for and will not work well for you. However for the average user it is a great value. Things to note: it came with a good copy of windows 10 with no detectable viruses however I still chose to use a windows 10 install thumb drive to reinstall it just for my own piece of mind. The windows 10 license is linked to the motherboard so you won't lose your authentic windows key by doing a reinstall. The keyboard and mouse are meh. But I never intended to use them anyway, they're not bad just normal cheapo refurbished stuff. I will nock a star off because they forgot the usb wifi dongle that was promised. Didn't really matter to me I just bought an m.2 wifi chip to put inside (conveniently there are antenna lines inside the case), the M.2 wifi/bluetooth has been working flawlessly. I had some minor issues with the display just being black when I first got it, maybe because I was trying to get into the bios... Under normal operation it doesn't seem to happen so I'm just going to ignore it. However related to that problem if the screen turns off because of the window setting...wiggling the mouse or pressing a key doesn't wake the screen back up which is super annoying but you leave it alone after wiggling the mouse and a few minutes later it might wake back up... To solve this problem I just turned off the screen sleep power feature in windows and now it's golden. I've been using it for a while now and have no issues. As long as you have a little computer knowledge I would say it's worth buying. Oh last note Turn off the paging in the advanced system settings, you don't really need it and it will burn through your SSD's life if you leave it on, so yeah turn that crap off. Hope this helps. I would buy it again.

Great Value! Excellent Refurbishing Work!
First of all, the price is what attracted me this PC. This is cheapest I can find for the specs that it has - an 8th gen i5. This is the first refurbished anything I ever bought, and I was very impressed by the packaging and that fact that it came exactly as described - with wifi adapter, DP to HDMI adapter, mouse and keyboard, and OEM power adapter. On top of that, the PC itself was in good condition, clean and dust free; minor scratch on the case but nothing I would complain about based on the price. The PC booted up fast to a freshly installed and verified Windows 10, and the performance is as expected, which runs great. Great seller and product overall, hope it will last with no issues.

Decent value, but the product description is deceptive.
This review is for the HP Elitebook 800 G4. Unfortunately, the product description is deceptive It states that the computer will come equipped with wifi and bluetooth. The unit I received did not. Instead I got a very cheap bluetooth dongle of a brand I am not sure I trust and no m.2 wifi/bluetooth card installed. Strangely, I do see one of the antenna wires that would have come with the card. Was the card removed intentionally, hence the crappy bluetooth dongle thrown into the box? A couple other issues were obvious right away. There was a case screw tumbling around inside the computer when I received it. I was able to secure that in it's proper location. And that antenna wire mentioned above, the thing that secures it to the exterior of the case was just flopping around without being attached at all. Aside from that, the computer seems to be working well, but I need to do a more thorough check in the coming days. Very disappointing that the seller(s) are using deceptive tactics to sell these machines. While the device is a great value for the price I paid, I really cannot stand being mislead about what I am going to be getting, so I may have to return this thing.

great price, nice design, fast
HP EliteDesk 800 G4 mini Great value for the money. Six core Intel processor, NVMe SSD, DDR4 memory, and "mini" form factor with a small footprint. While not designed as a gaming machine it handles most office/home processes with ease. This is not a Win11 machine. I use it for the latest version of Linux Mint (21.3) as my primary OS, with a separate SSD for Windows 10 Pro. The BIOS utility (UFEI) is pretty clunky, but HP support provides good and convenient online resources for firmware/driver updates (which is one of the reasons I keep a Windows 10 installation available on a second SSD. ) My computer was purchased from the Amazon Renewed Store. Compound IT was the supplier and I recommend them highly. The 800 G4 arrived next day and in excellent condition (as advertised). It was super clean, with all accurate specs from the sales page, even including an on-board VGA port that was not listed in the sales specs. Very satisfied with all aspects regarding this purchase.

Check the vendor reviews before buying
Purchased one of these units in Jan of 2023 and it arrived in terrible condition. It's definitely not the 'excellent' quality renewed that was advertised. I checked the vendor reviews after seeing the state it was in and found dozens of complaints, all of which were crossed out stating they were issues due to Amazon Fullfillment. That's just not true. This thing came in the box provided by the vendor in this terrible condition. If it'd said it would be in 'fair' or 'average' condition I might accept it, but this is disgusting. -There was dust and dirt on the outside of the mini itself that I had to clean off. - There was no paperwork of any sort included. Nothing to indicate who to contact if parts are missing or damaged, no 90 day warranty info, no anything. - The included Dell branded mouse doesn't work properly. It jerks and stutters around the screen like it has a bad sensor. - The included Lenovo keyboard is disgusting. It has food crumbs and dirt all over the keys and even the bag it was in has dirt smudged all over the inside. - The mini itself is missing the internal drive cage and cable kit. I'm trying to contact the vendor about the missing drive cage and cable connectors. If they can't provide them I'll be returning the unit. Update: Tried contacting StallionTek, but their phone system hangs up on you a few rings after you choose an option. Doesn't matter which option you select. And there's no option to leave voicemail. I'll be sending this unit back and ordering a replacement from a different vendor after checking their reviews.

Was not sure what I would receive.
I did not receive what I ordered, a HP EliteDesk 800 G4 4CB30UT Mini Desktop, but model 5PA44US. It’s still an EliteDesk 800 G4, but it came with an 8600T processor instead of the 8500T. The 8600T runs at 2.30Ghz. Is it better, I do not know, as it works and is sleek and is very fast. This model new from HP came with an 128gb SSD and it was upgraded to a 256gb KingFast SSD. Like I say it is fast, but never heard of that brand. Unlike the 800 G2 and G3, the G4 can run Windows 11. Turning it on for the first time, gave me a screen that ask me if I wanted to run Windows 10 or 11, so TPM was Enabled. I choose Windows 11 and the system brought up the Windows Update screen that would install Windows 11. When done I was confused as in the box was a USB WiFi and Bluetooth adapters where I found in this model they are both build in to the system. As the G4 only became available three years ago, the WiFi is 5GHz and works fine. As it turned out, the build in Bluetooth driver failed to work. At around $325, this system is really a bargain. New it sold for over $1000 and today on eBay over $500. There are a lot of driver updates available including a BIOS Firmware update to version 02.15 which means the system is very up to date. What is not up to date is the HP system software, first program I added was the HP Support Assistant, which I used to install many of those those updates. I wanted a system with Windows 11 and I now have one and at a very good price. Am I happy, I would say yes.
