Wesco 272303 Vertical Slide Deheader

This tool is simple to use and makes a nice cut to remove the top. It is in the mid range cost range, but is better then some higher priced units.

My first time using this, it took about one minute or so to get a barrel lid cut off. It was basically easy to use, just a matter of technique, and I think soon I will be faster. It appears to be pretty heavy duty, and did not struggle to get the drum lids cut off. I would recommend this for most people, if you rip drums open all day, maybe get an automatic super expensive one, but this is a decent product.

I purchased this drum deheader after trying two other models and types. One much cheaper and Blue, one much more money and claimed to leave no burr. They both are now in our recycle bin after only one day. This one works!!! If you need a drum deheader this is the one to Buy. Period.

very hard to use compared to other ones I have purchased in the past

We have this and several others that are essentially the same design but with a curved blade. While they both do the same job, this one is harder and more laborious to use, goes forward instead of back (which is more natural to all of us), and leaves a much more jagged and sharp edge. Enough so that we decided it was best to trash this one.

We have a ton and a half of 55 gallon barrels at our place and lots of people are looking for clean burn barrels. It takes less than and minuet and a half to take the top of clean.

It did exactly what I needed it to do...in very short order!!! I would not hesitate recommending this product to others.

This came in a reasonable amount of time, and I was able to de-head 6 drums in about 20 minutes or so. I thought a vertical de-header might allow me to use the cut-off top as a lid, but this was not the case. This is very useful, though, if you want to make burn barrels about of sealed drums.

Never used one before, bought this one strictly by the reviews. It works fine, even on slightly dented barrels. I wouldn't want to use it for 8 hours a day, but it is easy to use.
