No prime, no problem!
This pump was not inly easy to install, but very powerful reaching every sprinkler zones we have. Also one if the things i loved is the fact that, i installed it, turn it on without priming it and there it went, boom perfect going up on pressure as fast as i never have seen. Its a super quality product and i highly recommend it.

Simply one of the best irrigation pumps available
I have owned two of these pumps and they are superior to most available. Sturdy and reliable. My only negative comment, and it is true about a number of these types of pumps is the lack of an option to purchase an impeller made of brass or stainless. Yes I would buy another. The one I am using now has been in operation 15 years and I have only had to replace the run capacitor. I do plan to replace the plastic impeller.

I was in a pinch because it was in the middle of July and my nice lawn was dying
Save your money and buy a Sta-Rite lawn pump. I had always had sta-rite in the past but 2 years ago after my 25 year old sta-rite pump motor quit working I decided to just buy a whole new pump. I was in a pinch because it was in the middle of July and my nice lawn was dying. I went to my local irrigation supplier and they "sold" me this "great" Gould's pump. Well I'd never heard of them before so I figured why not. That was my first bad decision. I should have asked them some questions first but after shelling out 558 dollars I brought it home and hooked it up. At first everything was going great! I had water shooting 8 feet farther than before and I attributed that to a whole new pump. Well after 1 year I couldn't get the pump to pump water. At first I thought maybe the well had run dry...but that's a naive thought because I have a natural spring running 20 ft deep in my property. I couldn't believe that the impeller would've been bad because I paid so much money for it. Well after checking the well....checking the breakers....checking the check valve.....I was finally forced to take the pump apart and what I found was a separated impeller. The thing completely separated into two parts and the worst thing was that IT IS PLASTIC!!! This made me SO MAD...that I paid 558 dollars and got a pump with a PLASTIC IMPELLER!!! I would NEVER EVER buy this pump again. On top of all of this.....I have a 1 year old pump with a broken impeller...so I could've either bought a new Sta-Rite pump for 279.00 with a brass impeller or call the stupid Goulds headquarters to "order" a pump rebuild kit for 88 dollars plus tax comes out to 94.00!!!! I decided to buy the rebuild kit although I have the money and my better judgement says dumb this thing....but after this impeller goes bad I'll trash it and buy a you know what....a StaRite pump. Save your time, money and get no headache by NOT buying this pump.

Awesome pumps.
I cant write a review for this one and probably can't for 20 years. I have two of these pumps and one is over 40 years old in a pump house and never rebuilt and has pumped a lot of water. The other one is on a place I purchased a couple of years ago and it is 20 years old and has been outside in the elements, paint faded watering a huge lawn and garden 1000s of hours of work in the grueling hot sun and heat and dirty water. Still pumping good, but starting to make some noise I think in the starter assembly. So the new one is in the shop under the bench waiting for the day the old one decides to retire. So when I buy a pump I look for the blue paint.

Rugged product survived long FedEx ride from south Florida to Texas.
Ordered exact replacement pump for my home lawn sprinkler system. Very surprised to find manufacturer has eliminated typical 1/2" OSB plywood shipping base to provide rigidity to shipping carton. I opened the shipping container base (bottom) side to inspect for damage. As the picture indicates, no support base was present and the styrofoam packing was broken. After a through inspection, I didn't find any physical damage and installed the pump. Primed the system and the pump met the pump curve specs without any unusual noises or problems. Goulds makes a superior product.

Powers up the sprinkler heads !
This is our 4th sprinkler pump over 18 years, our first Gould, which was replacing a less expensive Flotec pump of the same HP that failed within 90 days of install. This Gould pump is solidly built. It's the first pump we've had that actually pops all the sprinkler heads up across the zones without any of them 'lagging'. Our zones are up a steep hill from a lake draw so the upper heads have typically taken more time to come up and with less output. The install was a bit of a pain. Although the input and output piping from the prior pump are of the same diameter, we had to adapt the height and location of each to accommodate the placement on this particular pump. That took 2 people a good 9 hours to get it installed. It's noisy - much more than our prior 3 pumps. But that's the trade-off for a pump I hope can last for 10 years of summer season use !

Powerful and quiet!
I am resurrecting an irrigation system from an older house we purchased. The existing system probably had not been run in decades since the original pump looks like it had long since rusted over, along with the timer. The install of the pump went smooth, and it runs quiet and performs very well! Has a good priming suction, which is essential for my case because it is pulling water from a pretty long distance. I had originally replaced the rusted-out 1.5HP with an inexpensive (but well reviewed) 1.5HP after patching several leaks from the intake line, but the 1.5 HP just couldn't cut it. Not sure if the Goulds 1.5 HP would have worked (I suspect it may have), but I went to 2HP just to be sure.

Its nice to have a pump that works in the dry season
Replaced my old GT20 after 15 yrs and the base has changed . Had to rework the pluming to get the pump to match up. Pressure and flow are great even with a 20 ft lift Found the price a little stiff but if it lasts as long as my old pump it will be worth the dollar.
