Stops pipes from banging!
This thing actually works! It's easy to install, you need to turn off the hot & cold water outlets to your washer, unscrew the hoses (they will still have some water left in them, so have a towel handy), screw the hoses into the arrestors first, and then finally screw the arrestors directly in to the back of your washing machine. They have a long stem so they can clear the back panel of the washing machine easily if the inlets are recessed. My washing machine was originally installed improperly and the plastic threaded inlets for hot and cold water were kind of chewed up, so my advice when putting on the new arrestors is to go very slowly and carefully. Back up if you feel any resistance and remember your righty-tighty lefty-loosey rule. They will screw on quite a way before you feel the internal O-ring washer bump up against the inlet and only then will it feel tighter as you screw it on. If you feel resistance earlier then you're probably not aligned with the threads and you should stop immediately and start over. So even with a washing machine with messed up water inlets it was still a relatively easy install if you have some patience. Just don't rush it. I would advise not putting the arrestors on first and then attaching the hoses because tightening the hose-to-arrestor connection will put a lot of strain on the washing machine's water inlets. In use the arrestors don't make any noise that I can tell, and if they do it's way quieter than the pipes banging around in your walls. Water pressure seems fine and the washing machine does the job. No problems there. It's a big piece of mind to know that my pipes aren't rattling themselves to death now. I get the same water hammer effect from my dishwasher so I'll definitely be installing one there next. Now I wonder why all appliances don't come with this feature built in, or at least come with a set of arrestors. Highly recommended! And for somebody with zero plumbing experience it was not a big deal.

Solved my banging pipes!
I recently installed a water hammer hose arrestor in my home and I couldn't be happier with the results. This device has completely solved the issue of water hammer in my plumbing system. The water hammer noise was not only annoying, but it also put unnecessary stress on my pipes and fixtures. With the hose arrestor in place, I no longer experience any banging or rattling noises when I turn off faucets or appliances. The installation was straightforward, and the compact design of the arrestor allowed me to easily fit it into the plumbing system without any hassle. The quality construction of the device gives me confidence in its durability and long-lasting performance. Additionally, the water pressure in my home remains stable, and I no longer have to worry about any potential damage to my pipes. I highly recommend the water hammer hose arrestor to anyone dealing with water hammer issues. It's a simple and effective solution that brings peace and quiet back to your plumbing system.

Remember that this is an expendable product
Works great. Silences your noisy pipes and quiets the water hammer. It's a world of difference. I no longer feel that the pipes in my house are going to rip through the drywall. No adverse effect on the washer or washing at all. Super easy to use, just remember to have some Teflon tape handy. You can put it at any point on from the faucet at the wall to the washer, although I tend to get the best results putting this directly between the washer and the inflow hose. This typically lasts about a 18 months in our house before it wears out and you have to buy a replacement. Just think of it like brake pads on your car.

Water hammer noise is now gone
After eight years of consistent use, we replaced both water inlet valves on our LG WM4270HVA washing machine due to sediment clogging. However, the new OEM inlet valves were significantly louder than the originals. They closed much faster, causing a loud bang (water hammer) each time they shut off after letting water into the machine. To address this issue, we installed Sioux water arrestors directly on the back of the washing machine. The difference is remarkable—these arrestors significantly reduce the loud banging noise, making it almost unnoticeable. I'm very impressed with their performance. At around $20 each, they are well worth the investment. Installation is quick and easy. Time will tell how durable they are but they appear well made.

LG washer? Pipes hammering? You need this!
If you have a front loading washer from LG, then you need these on both lines (so you need to order two). They are quite neat in that they also will help eliminate a potential kink on the lines to the washer, since they mount directly to the back of the washer, and have a 90 degree bend to them. The hoses then mount vertically to the arrestors. They do work for reducing water hammer. If you do not know what what hammer is, it is the obnoxiously loud pulse that occurs when the valves open and close as the washer adds water to the tub. It can also be damaging to water lines, as the hammering is from the lines moving back and forth, and this can cause the lines to be damaged enough to leak. When installing the LG washer, I also pulled out some of the wall (installing a panel for access and to cover the hole) sheetrock, and did my best to secure the copper lines to the framing. The hammer still occurs, of course, but at least the lines are secured in that portion of the wall cavity. If you can attach a hose to a faucet, you can install these easily. Just be sure to hand tighten and not tool tighten. The upper portion contains a piston, with multiple gaskets, holding air behind it. This absorbs the shock of the water switching on and off, Why three stars you may wonder? Well, while these will reduce the hammering, they will not eliminate it completely. Mind you, my home that the bank own’s plumbing has water pressure of 84psi (checked with a gauge), which is definitely on the high end. I need to reduce the pressure in the future. Lower pressure may result in these removing hammering entirely, although this is just conjecture on my part. The other negative is that the arrestors will need to be replaced, as the piston eventually wears out (especially if your washer is run near daily, as in our case). Taking apart an old one, I could no longer see (nor touch with a thin screwdriver) the piston, unlike a new one, which has the piston clearly visible and near the opening. On a whim, I decided to order a larger Sioux Chief arrestor that contains just the piston portion. Unfortunately, it was 1/2 inch and I assumed the opening was 3/8 inch. An adapter did not solve the size difference, so either the 660-HB does not have a 3/8 inch opening, or the adaptor is the incorrect size. I will contact Sioux Chief for a solution, if possible. There may well be compatibility issues beside this to consider, but that’s possibly another item to review. Regardless, the 660-HB at a minimum should help with hammering washers, if not eliminate it. Recommended, with reservations.

Works amazing!
I have a new GE front load washer and water hammer was pretty significant even though I have a water pressure regulator for my home. Installed these and water hammer is completely gone, quick install with no special tools, highly recommended.
