Luna Fauna Series Dolphin Quilted Maple Concert Ukulele

This Uke plays very nice and sounds great. I have giant hands and so far the frets are a bit spread out for a concert and it really helps. It's beautiful and sounds amazing. I took it to my local shop to get an amp and even the Uke dude there played it once and said wow this is one nice piece. The only complaint is they shipped it with a dead 9 volt battery. but its not a big enough complaint to mark it down a stare. The strings are a hybrid gut/nylon and they ring perfect I hardly have to use my tuner! A+ Uke

Reading these other reviews, I'm a bit confused. I've had my ukulele since early November and I've only grown to love this ukulele more and more. I have picked up quite a few ukuleles before but none compare to this one in my opinion. It's a quality item all around. Though the outer beauty of this uke is unsurpassed, I love the tone. It's full and beautiful and when plugged into an amp, it does not disappoint. It would be an excellent gig instrument and I don't think anyone would regret buying it! Happy playing!

I am an intermediate musician in general, but new to the world of ukuleles, so take this review for what it's worth. :) I am considering buying a ukulele in about this price range, to which end I spent a couple of hours playing this model of Luna in a local music store. I got pretty attached to it, my hand liked it, and it made me want more. In quality and overall value I would definitely compare it with other ukuleles in the same price range. The online price is usually about $50 less than at a brick-and-mortar store, where it can go for up to $299. The amazing design and also the electronics are a big plus. The tone and intonation are fine by me, and I'm very picky about that. I would agree with the previous review that the tone of the comparable Lanikai, the CK-C, is better in the sense of being more "idiomatic" to the ukulele, though I personally found the tone of this to be perfectly satisfactory. In all, I would recommend that there is no substitute for going to different stores and trying various brands and models out for yourself as opposed to buying any instrument purely based on someone else's impression. IMHO if you fall in love with this one, you will not be disappointed. Just my 2 cents. Happy ukeing!

This is the most beautiful ukulele I've ever seen. It sounds wonderful too. My husband, who is a musician (I'm not -- yet -- just a beginner) says it sounds nice but not as nice as his. Playing with a beautiful instrument really motivates and inspires me. I also bought a Superior CD-1651 Concert Ukulele Deluxe Case and it fits like a glove. I couldn't be happier!

I received this instrument a week ago and am very pleased with it. It is more comfortable to play than my Kamaka because of the more slender neck compared to other concert ukuleles. I am a beginner and just now learning how to play but I think most women will love the ease of playing this instrument. Visually the Luna Dolphin is beautiful. UPDATE: I returned this item due to poor quality sound when compared to less expensive Lanikai Spruce ukulele. For $37 more I replaced it with a Lanikai NK-C(Naturual Koa Concert). The Luna is a work of art and I hope at some point they will produce and instrument with a quality of sound to match it beauty.

I got this ukulele because Luna impresses me and I wanted a plug-in/acoustic ukulele for recording a playing. I love Luna as a company (I bought my first real ukulele from them, the Luna Turtle Tattoo Soprano, or something like that) I really wanted this ukulele to quench my thirst, but I just knew it wasn't going to work for me after a few days of playing it. A few strings would ring as if they were touching the wood of the ukulele at times. In addition, the strings were far above the fretboard, which is hard to strum and form chords with, and the ukulele was heavy. I could have fixed the ringing and string elevation at a guitar store, but it was the sound that didn't work for me either. The tones of the ukulele didn't seem to mesh together. Plus, the amplified and plugged-into-a-computer sound didn't appeal to me either. Maybe all ukuleles sound like that when amplified? I turned this ukulele back in to Amazon for a refund and purchased an acoustic/electric Oscar Schmidt ukulele for 100 bucks less and I do not regret the decision. The back of the ukulele did not have the same pattern of wood that I saw in the Luma video, which I was very dissapointed about. If you just love the look and design to death, and have the willpower and money to fix it up, go for it!

I've been playing my old ukulele for about 2 years now, and upgrading to this was a phenomenal idea! The sound is amazing, not to mention is beautiful, and when plugged into an amp it still maintains that great ukulele sound! I love this ukelele, it was a great purchase, and I'm so excited to bring this beauty with me everywhere!

My Daughter absolutely loves this uke and her school and home music teacher both said it sounds amazing.
