I would recommend a less difficult product for a beginner; try a banner or ornaments.

I think if I had not been experienced in sewing and crafting, this would have been a daunting project. My mom had made a stocking like this for each of my children over 35 years ago and we used them every year. I want to make one for my new grandson to keep up the tradition and it turned out beautifully! I was determined to finish it in just over a month and it took that much time with many days of 6 to 8 hours of sewing, embroidering and stuffing. I may have overstuffed a bit, but it is gorgeous and my son and his wife loved it. They said the baby was spellbound by it and I know it will be something loved every year for his whole life. They can be a bit delicate, so I would not over stuff them. However, the one's my mom made did get used for over 30 years and are a bit worn, but lasted. Just found out I will have another grandchild so will have to make another one now.

I have been making stockings for a few years now. This kit is more on the easy scale. However, I found that the white outline of the appliqués on the black felt had pretty much faded away. I had to take a chalk pencil to redraw the outlines as best I could. As I worked with the black felt, the chalk would wipe off half the time and I had to either redraw the lines or guess where to attach/embroider the pieces together. Overall, it is a really cute stocking and I have enjoyed working on this one since it is easier than the last one I worked on.

I have done so many of these stockings that sometimes I don’t follow the instructions per se I do what works better for me and I think the more you do the more you can do that.

I love Bucilla stocking kits. I have done 8 or so over the last 10 years for my family and friends and I enjoy putting them together. They’re easy to follow, although a little time consuming. I enjoy sitting down a few hours each day and working on it. I only removed a star because there weren’t even 1/2 the amount of small glass beads needed to do the stocking included. Occasionally I’ve been 20 or so short but this particular kit I received had about 100 or more short. I had to go to hobby lobby and buy more. Would recommend though the design of this one is cute and not super complicated.

I love these stockings. Lots of work but directions are easy to follow. Was disappointed that no needles were included however; that is not supposed to be the case. 1/3 of the clear beads were broken so I also had to purchase more. Still, I love the finished product and have already ordered more of the stockings

Thought the quality of some of the felt pieces was not as good as in previous kits that I have done.
