I needed a second emergency light in the event we're in a black out and I settled on this. The unit is very solid feeling, it can easily be hung up, though I personally wish it had a meatier handle. It's real bright-it lights up a room better than my old one. But the goal mostly was to just have two.

I have the bigger green Coleman and decided to get another. Excellent product.

Just like I like them, simple and they work.. I turn the knob and it tells me what setting I'm on.. I don't need to cycle through all of the modes to figure out what I'm on.. Nice and simple, and it give me enough light. AND it closes well with the batteries in it. (some are a real pain).. I got this for power outages.. If we lose power for a few days, how am I going to recharge dead batteries? I'm not.. so, I went with good old fashioned batteries.

Was delighted that I purchased these before hurricane season hit us. So I put batteries in and couldn’t wait to see how well it worked. The thing jammed and I could not get it in position, could not take batteries out, could not get a light.i called Kohlman what a nasty joke! First a female rep told push this, twist that, press this and it made no sense that these directions would solve the jam up. After 15 min . Of this she told me I needed to get some in the house who is stronger than me to do it. I hit the ceiling ! I am a female, 5’8” , I do everything a household requires myself because I can - I am hulk strong! So I hung up and turned to google for a hint. There before my eyes story after story about this product expresssing the exact same experience. I returned the lanterns . However the brand new 4D Duracells went with it because they could not be removed unless I wanted to smash it. I called Amazon. Thankyou Amazon for your help with this product and for compensating me for the batteries I lost to the product. No kohlman products for me ever again.

I wouldn’t expect any less from Coleman. The lantern is very bright. I don’t know how long it lasts because I haven’t left it on till it died. It’s convenient and bright without gasoline or propane.

I've bought this lantern as well as LE Lantern, which is rated at 1000 lumen as well, for my camping trip. After using both lanterns for a week, I like this one much better than LE. First of all, I like warmer light it produces, it looks more natural. It doesn't blind as much if you look directly at the lantern in complete darkness of a camping site - probably because of better light dissipation with a very uniform brightness across all the surface. I really like the location of the power switch at the top of the lantern. It is very easy to find even in complete darkness and turn the lantern on. Also, the rotary design of the power switch makes it very easy to set desired brightness/mode. It is better than regular power buttons. Having batteries completely disconnected while the lantern is turned off makes it perfect for storage till the next summer. For example, for LE lantern, I had to cut out a cardboard insert to disconnect batteries from the lantern and prevent draining the batteries over time. And, last of all, I like the build quality and look of the lantern. Also, it has a perfect size - not too small, and not too large. I highly recommend this lantern.

Fantastic light. This is the emergency lantern to have. We had the original bulb version that lasted 35 years! And only replaced it because the batteries leaked and destroyed the inside - we bought two and got a third for our daughter's apartment. Lights need to work when they need to work, period. This light is the bomb and should last for decades. We like to avoid all-in-one devices that include a light and battery charger, and of course, rechargeable batteries in general. Even today's built-in batteries will certainly fail long before the rest of the device has failed. 4 D cell batteries last for huge amounts of time, especially on lower light output, and of course, you can use rechargeable batteries. For emergency purposes these lanterns are amazing. We stuck with the 800 lumen version because it optimizes battery life and provides the light output of a standard 60 watt light bulb. The battery protection feature is fantastic. Buy it and keep a pack of batteries readily available. A perfect lantern in every regard and it is not possible to have a negative experience with it.

I didn't expect to be able to steer ships away from the coast with this, but I did expect it to light my bedroom in a power outage. This is super weak light for 4 AA batteries. I tried with quality rechargables and new alkalines and the difference was minimal. My phone is 3x as bright, with a pitch black bedroom this doesn't light enough to see my way around, turning on my phone light i can see my whole room fine. I expected a lot better, I have had other cheap LED lanterns and such that were considerably brighter for the same price. Only pro at all is that this feels and looks nice in the hand, but that hardly matters when I need a good light. Included 2 pictures, one with the lantern and one with the flash from my phone so u can see how much better the phone light is. Just throwing this away as its become more hassle than its worth to return cheap items.

Compact and sturdy. I often use it in my farm. Perfect for outdoors as well as indoors. No issues even when exposed to rain. But wipe and dry once under roof. Placement of switch is great. Won't blind you when operating. I use rechargeable batteries, tested for 6 hrs continuous run. It worked well. Be cautious when closing the battery lid. Follow instructions manual to avoid any issues. Since it was import to India, I shelled out more bucks. But trust me, this Coleman lantern is perfect for outdoors and during power outage.

Very handful for my camping. The quality is very good. My son was make a mistake on the battery cover. It was stuck. I thought it is going to finish. But it still working fine. Very good!
