This stuff works great. It lost a star because it’s pretty pricey. I discovered that I can make my own with spackle and play sand, both from Home Depot, for a fraction of the cost.

I originally bought this white sand texture paste to create a sand effect on beach-type cards. It really works well. The texture is nice and gritty, with small grains of sand. The paste is just thick enough to create peaks. I'm loving it more in mixed media. I'm also using the mini art stones on top. Both accept coloring. Heaven!

I am using this for quick 3D effect on tabletop miniature bases - works very well, the texture is OK for 28-30mm models. I suspect it would also work OK for tabletop scenery - the flat laser-cut board kind.

I can,t seem to get it to crackle! However, I have problems with any crackle for that matter. It must be the climate but I live in SD. I would think dry weather might help. I don,t like the color either. It's now the gold I pictured it to be. It's very, very pale in color. Not gold at all really. Disappointed!

The product is fun to use with lots of options for creating realistic dioramas.
