Amazed by the results
Okay this is going to be long but here we go. I just washed my hair last night and I was amazed by the results. I have natural 4a/b/c hair and it's never been easy to manage. Usually wash day is full of detangling, washing in sections, clipping parts out of the way, none of that. I could shampoo my ENTIRE HEAD without sections and without tangling. Below is my advice on the process. I'll put before and after pictures too. -Putting in the Treatment) it took me about 5-6 hours (by myself) to wash my hair and do the entire process. I would suggest doing a deep condition the day before because I didn't and my hair was DRY after clarifying and blow drying. Dry enough to cause a small amount of breakage. My hair is very healthy and quite thick but if you have damaged hair, you will loose a lot of strands because this process will be traumatic for your hair. You will NEED a face mask and gloves for the application. The product has like a pleasant sweet honey smell but the formaldehyde does make it potent. There were times where I was almost about to pass out but thanks to the reviews here I did this process OUTSIDE. My eyes were still burning at times but not as bad. You may want to even get goggles, I had my glasses on. Lol. I looked crazy. When you apply the Treatment itself it will moisturize your hair a little which will help the dryness until you flat iron it. Do NOT flat iron your hair 7 times like it says, that will destroy it. I did about 3 on 450. Do tiny sections. After flat ironing the formaldehyde smell goes away thankfully. Day 1-3) my hair was EXTREMELY dry until like the end of the second day, where my sebum kicked in and started to coat my hair. I slept with a silk cap on and it really helped keep it soft and smooth and limit any breakage from dryness. Be very gentle and don't do excessive combing or flat iron it because it's still quite dry and prone to breakage. Wash out & Results ) before washing I did a coconut oil hot oil treatment on the dry hair and sat under heat for 30 mins. I washed with a neutralizing shampoo because I wanted to make sure the PH was in balance. When I washed my hair out, I was amazed. My hair was soooo soft and manageable. I stopped halfway through the wash to look in the mirror and saw my type 4 hair changed into TYPE 3 YOU GUYS. It was amazing. I did see some heat damage on one section, but I'm not sure if it's because I went over it too many times or if there is too much keratin on that part, I will find out in the upcoming months and update this. The hair is amazing and even my boyfriend was astounded at the change. I immediately dc'd for an hour to prevent dryness breakage and will be doing some low manipulation/ protective styles (to make up for some of the trauma it went through for these few days). But this treatment is a keeper. Your hair changes for the better, it is so smooth, soft, and manageable. If you have problems like I did with just combing your hair, I highly recommend this solution.

It Really Works!
I have 4b shoulder-length hair, that is very curly/coily, but fine. Because I could not find a hair care professional in my area who is comfortable using keratin on African-American hair, I thought about applying it myself. In addition, professionals charge $200 to $300 or more in New York City to do this treatment, so I didn't want to waste money and get bad results or hair damage. After researching various keratin products, I decided to go with Keratin Research's Gold Label because the manufacturer seems to put some real thought behind what they are selling. I was pleased that as soon as I ordered the product, I received an email from the manufacturer with links to their videos and instructions. I really appreciated that. After I washed my hair with clarifying shampoo, I blow dried it on a medium temperature, just to make the keratin application more uniform for each strand. The detangling and blow drying were really the longest, most arduous steps, especially because my hair is so coiled. I applied the product as instructed. Applying it was not difficult; you just need to take your time and ensure that you fully cover each section of hair, all the way to the ends. I forgot to let it sit for 30 minutes, but since it took more than that for this application step, I'm pretty sure the 30 minutes was not a problem. I blow dried again, and then flat ironed in small sections. The flat-iron was set at 410 degrees and I did 5 passes on each small section of hair. For the front of my head which is more like 3b hair (loose spirals), I did 410 degrees, but only 3 passes on each section of hair. I was so nervous about the formaldehyde that I had a fan blowing, and was ready with a face mask! Much to my surprise, I hardly smelled anything; just a whiff once in a while. I was starting to wonder whether I had used enough product, because I had prepared for much worse! I had no eye irritation or itching/burning/etc. The ironing left my hair feeling slightly waxy, like each strand was coated. But it was definitely smooth. Over the next 3 days, I made sure not to get my hair wet, pin it up or use hair bands. It had a slightly dull sheen and felt dry, but not brittle. The company suggests flat-ironing it each of the three days, at 360 degrees. That had me worried because I do not apply heat so often to my hair. But from the listed ingredients, it seems that the Gold Label contains several oils (Argan, Grape, Avocado and Jojoba seed) to protect against the heat. So I did flat iron it each day. I did not see an breakage or hair loss. At night I wore a silk or satin hair cover. The real test was when I washed out the treatment using a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner. My hair became really coiled. But when I flat-ironed it at 360 degrees (after applying a thermal protectant), it became perfectly smooth. Despite some very hot and humid days, my hair has remained frizz-free, and I have not had to flat iron it, unless I wash it. I went out dancing last night and my head got sweaty, but again, my hair remained straight and there was no frizz! For once, I did not have to resort to the hair ties, pony tail holders, etc. I definitely intend to use this product again.

Not magic, but the best option I’ve found for silky hair
I’ve tried several keratin treatments, and this one has been the most effective for my fine, blonde, and bleach-damaged hair. It’s not a miracle cure, but it definitely delivers a silky, smooth feeling that makes my hair look and feel much healthier. What I ❤️ • Creates a noticeable silky finish right after use • Helps me tame my frizzy and damaged hair from bleaching • Can use as a deep hair mask (still gives great results that way) • Lasts longer and works better than similar products I’ve tried What I 💔 • It’s a lot of work: you have to wait, then blow dry, then straighten — it’s hard • Results only last about 5–6 washes before fading • The smell is very strong — a mix of coconut and burned wheel that smells inorganically chemical. Bottom line🙂 If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, this is one of the best keratin treatments on the market. It won’t permanently fix damaged hair, but it gives me the silky, smooth finish I can’t get from regular conditioners or masks. I’ll keep using it, especially when my hair needs an extra boost after bleaching.

If you are doing this pocess alone it will take dedication.
First off I just want to say I never though that my hair would be this nice and easy to maintain. I did my first keratin treatment myself in July 2019 and loved the results. I did my second one in the beginning of January 2020 and my hair is even more soft and manageable than it has been. So let me give you a little background. I am a black female originally with type 41 hair. My curl pattern was not very defined but when I did that first keratin treatment my hair started to get VERY curly about 4-5 months later, Hence my next treatment. But now my hair literally has no frizz and I can almost wash and go. Lets just say I use 80% less products than I used to for maintaining a wash and go style. I can flat iron my hair with out having to blowdry it. My hair is growing so thick and long faster than ever before. Its like I have NEW HAIR and I love it! Honestly I cant wait to do my next one in 5 months, my hair is gonna be EVEN BETTER. My process was a little different than the directions given since I am now familiar with how it works in my hair but honestly I love this stuff and even put it in my hair as a deep conditioner after my first wash. Anyway this is my procedure for my natural hair: 1. Washed my hair with keratin treatment line cleansing shampoo 2+ times and combed through and seprated into 4 parts. 2. Blow dried each part with comb attachment and kept sections in Nubian knots until all were parts dried. 3. Starting in the back I applied treatment to small sections that I parted from each quarter until hair was covered. DO NOT GET ON SCALP OR SKIN omg it burns lol. 4. I let it sit for almost an hour tbh because I really wanted it to penetrate my thick texture. then I blowdried the quarter sections with comb attachment then round brush I wore A face mask ( insulation grade), rubber gloves and safety goggles because that is how strong the smell is, so do not be alarmed if you feel like your choking to death through your nose and throat ITS SO WORTH IT lolol. You cant smell it until you apply heat FYI. 5. Once my hair dried I flat ironed it in tiny sections with a middle part to keep it as straight as possible for as long as possible. Go over entire head multiple times a day (or until you no longer smell chemical or feel that burn smell in your eyes( you'll understand what I mean when you get there) for maximum results 6. It tells you to leave it bone straight for 3 days but I leave my for as long as possible until I just have to wash it and omg the results are amazing!!!!!! I use sulfate, and paraben free, dye safe, organic, natural products thereafter. I hope this helps any girl like me who always thought my hair had potential but never could tame it or just don't want to do relaxer because you actually love your curl pattern. THIS HAS CHANGED MY LIFE Its like I finally have the hair I have always wanted and all the training ive spent years religiously getting my hair done and spending crazy money on " natural Products" has finnaly paid off!!!!!!!!!!

Danger: Strong fumes
I don't know if it works or not. On step 2 (blow drying it), the fumes were unbearable, my eyes were burning and I felt it starting to get to my lungs and affecting my breathing. Very unsafe.

Works wonders!
I've used the Keratin Research brand products previously, but this was my first time using the stronger Gold Label. My hair was super damaged from years and years of bleach, plus it is very very curly with a couple different curl patterns. Generally just a mess to deal with as it was frizzy and dry and I'd always just end up throwing it in a ponytail. This product is AMAZING. I'm DIYing it at home so it is an entire day's event and I always make sure to have a window open and a fan going as the fumes are very strong!! My first shampoo after the treatment, my hair was no longer frizzy, it dried much faster, and it was significantly straighter! The less strong version left my hair with still a bit of wave, which I didn't mind because I like a little bit of texture, though I'm obsessed with not having to wait 2 hours for my hair to dry all the way. I always air dry and my hair and it stays shiny and easy to work with now! I will definitely continue to use this and will most definitely repurchase when I run out of the product!!

Gold Label Brazilian keratin blowout treatment
Salon feeling right in my living room. I’m very happy because I been natural for years and I tried many of times to try to get that salon look and the silk press feeling but it never worked. I’m not going to lie I was scared to do this but I did it with 4 simple steps and I am happy with the results ,I have 4b hair type. Yes breathing it in was kinda of harsh when blow drying the fumes in my face but I made through the process. Now let’s see if it can hold up after I exercise because my head gets sweaty. If I can update this review , I will in a couple weeks.

Smooth, frizz free and shiny hair!
I have 2A type hair and after reading reviews, I specifically chose product with formaldehyde as the effects typically last longer than those without. I purchased face masks and gloves and went to town. I washed my hair with clarifying shampoo 3 times to ensure it was all squeaky clean. I then carefully brushed it out and let it mostly air dry, although you can use a hair drier to speed up the process. I split my hair vertically into 2 sections and started applying the product in small sections from the back to the front. I felt a slight burning sensation in my eyes during application, but that was about it and it wasn’t too bad. I felt more comfortable using my (gloved) hands to spread the product through my hair than a hair painting brush. I’d start about 2cm below my roots, spread it from root to tip with my fingers and then used a fine tooth comb to evenly coat each strand and remove excess product. Make sure to coat the baby hairs too! I used 2oz of product (for reference, I have fine, medium density hair that reaches to just above my bra line) and it was exactly enough. After I coated and combed each section, I joined it with the other hair that was already coated and ran the fine tooth comb through all of it to ensure I didn’t miss any hair in between sections and remove excess product. I left the product on my hair for about 45minutes. Then the fun really began! I used a standing fan and faced it at a slight angle towards my face. I didn’t want to aim it straight at my face as that was blowing the dried pieces around and into my eyes. I put on gloves, a new face mask and used a flat, plastic bristle brush to blowdry my hair in large sections, keeping it taught and aiming the nozzle downwards to smooth the cuticle. If you have course, frizzy or curly hair, I’d recommend using a round brush as it keeps the hair cuticle as smooth as possible throughout the process. At this stage, the hair will feel softer, but still heavy/waxy with product. My hair is balayaged so I set the temp for the iron at 450 for the darker parts of my hair and down to 425 as I reached the bleached sections towards the top of my head. I then split my hair vertically into 2 sections and started from the back by ironing 1/4-1/3in thick sections of hair, running a heat resistant comb in front of the hair iron each time. This helps smooth out each strand all the way through the ends so that you don’t iron it into a funky pattern. Don’t do thick sections as you need to start ironing very close to the root and don’t want to crease it. Pass the iron 4-10 times over each section (use the comb too!) depending on how thick/curly it is. I did about 6 passes for mine. I also ironed overlapping sections once or twice to make sure I don’t miss any hair in between sections and pay extra close attention to the flyaways. The heat resistant comb will be your best friend for them as it keeps those flyaways straightened between its teeth, allowing you to catch and straighten/smooth them with your iron. As your hair cools, you should be able to feel how soft and see how shiny it gets! It will still feel like you have a light film on your strands but it’s soft, shiny and frizz-free. I slept on a silk pillow and lightly re-ironed my hair (using the comb!!) every morning for the next 3 days. I set my iron at 425 the first day and the next at 2 days at 375, mostly focusing on any areas that creased/waved overnight. I did still make sure to focus on the flyaways towards the top layers of my head and did smaller sections there. I ended up waiting 4 days before I washed my hair just to really let it set (I don’t think this is necessary but I figured it couldn’t hurt) and I brushed my hair out from root to tip about 3 times a day to help keep it smooth and straight. I used one of Keratin Complex's sulfate free shampoos and Pureology’s hydrating silicone/paraben free conditioner and rinsed it out well. I let it air dry and my hair had zero frizz, was shiny and dried straight with a slight bedhead look that I have the option to smooth out with just a brush. This product works and I’m glad I took the plunge! The time and effort is totally worth it. I was hesitant to get a product with formaldehyde but the gloves, the face mask and the fan all helped mitigate most of the effects. I had minimal burning sensation in my eyes and nose throughout the process and took 3-4 breaks to let the fumes in the room air out a bit with the help of the fan but it was still there so that’s something to consider if you have any sensitivities. All in all, this was a great choice!
