GREAT product, definitely worth the money 1.5 years later!
This is a great product and a great place to buy it. We currently have this gate in a 48" doorway, and our 20-month-old rather rambunctious daughter has yet to break out or tear it down. (Yes, of course, she has tried!) It was relatively easy to set up (probably easier than most of the baby toys I've put together). It is easy to get in and out of, mainly because the door swings both ways. I do not particularly love that the door is hinged with a spring, however; there have been some close calls with fingers almost getting pinched. The spring also makes it difficult to keep the door open without installing an eye hook in a nearby wall to attach it to with string (or, like us, those baby rings they sell for hanging baby items so that kids can't choke themselves with it). Still, I'm amazed at the gate's ability to withstand lots of abuse but still maintain top quality function. We chose not to screw it into the wall and only use the sticky pads that lock it in place when you're setting it up. I wondered if we'd regret that and end up taking it apart to screw it into the wall. It hasn't been an issue at all. The thing is just ridiculously sturdy. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a gate for a wider doorway that is used frequently; it's well worth the money. Quick update: We now have a 2.5-year-old and a 10-month-old, and the gate is as sturdy--and useful--as ever. My 2.5-year-old can't get it open, which is great, and my younger one can pull up on it without any fear of it moving. The spring in the hinge is still annoying for pinched fingers, especially when my 2.5-year-old tries to be "helpful" and shut it for me. Pinched fingers haven't yet happened, but that's mainly due to good luck and mom's watchful eyes. Overall, I still highly recommend the gate--I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if I needed something for a wide doorway.

Great Gate!
This is a great gate. Install is easy and looks good, not cheap. One feature I was surprised to figure out was that it will stay open for times you have to go back and forth and don't to continually open and close. Just open the gate until you feel a small click and it remains open until you're ready to close it again. This is actually the 2nd one of these I've purchased, but the other one is at the stairs so I didn't notice the "open hold" feature initially.. Enjoy!

Would recommend
I love these. We bought two sets. 1) an opening with a wall on one side and a banister on the other. We purchased new bolt/supports compatible with the banister side. This set up worked well, with only one recommendation. I recommend that they make the bolts/supports an addition 1/2 inch longer to assist with making the entire set up a little more sturdy. Though, I should note that it is really sturdy as is. 2) is a typical walkway opening. I first installed it with out the support holders to prevent drilling holes or using tape. It did not work well with a 2.6 year old pushing on it. Scratched the walls up and slid down. I then installed the support holders and have had it up for the last 3 weeks with out any issues what so ever. These are well built, sturdy and look good. We love the locking feature and the ability to stay open or swing shut. I only gave 4 stars because I hate that I had to drill holes but in reality it's really not a big deal.

Works great for my dog and was easy to install
This is my 2nd gate and after 1 week, I am very pleased with it. My previous gate cost 1/2 the price of this and since it was made of wood, my 6 month old labroador retriever chewed through it after a few weeks. After doing an hour of research, I found this gate was ideal for my situation. I wanted a metal gate with a door that was easy to install (no drilling) and could accomodate a 56" wide hallway. Even though I had to buy an additional 7" extension, it was worth the money because the product works great and was easy to install. I do have 1 minor issue with the gate in that it closes by itself, so you will need to come up with a way to keep it proped open. In my case I got a plastic hook and some shoestring to hold the gate open, I just hope my dog won't eat the hook.

Wonderful product!
This gate doesn't really need my thumbs up but I'll give it anyway. We have a Carlson gate with the little pet door. It works fine here at grandma's because we have cats (and the price was right) but I wanted something a little "better" for my daughter and her husband to keep my grandson out of the foyer at their house. This gate certainly fills that "better" part. It closes by itself, it's plenty wide, it's sturdy and it's not an eyesore. My daughter and son-in-love love this gate...especially that it closes automatically. But for me, it's great because the opening is a little wider than the Carlson gate and easier for my wide body to get through it without turning sideways. This is a very sturdy gate but not intended for the top of stairs. Please folks....NEVER EVER use a pressure mounted gate for the top of stairs. While this is a wonderful gate, even with the screw in security cups used, this gate (nor any pressure mounted gate) should NEVER EVER be used at the top of your stairs. Like one other reviewer stated...if you need the gate to stay open....simply tie something around the gate (after opening) to temporarily keep it open. One more thing.... you can only use two extensions at a time...one on either end. My daughter was able to use the two extensions that come with the gate to block a 53" opening by extending the screws nearly all the way. If your opening is much wider than that, you should get the 10.5" extension and use it instead of the smaller one that comes with the gate. That will give you another 6 inches. I love that extensions for this gate are available with Free Shipping option from Amazon. Some brands are not.
