Works great with pickup truck
Bought this bike rack because we were going on a road trip & wanted to bring the bikes for more outdoor things to do. I am also always bringing the bikes back & forth to our campground & having to load them into the bed of the truck can be annoying. When I was looking at the reviews for this product I saw a bunch that were geared towards SUVs & only a couple for pickup trucks. Here's my review after taking one test drive with this bike rack. 1st I have to say it was easy to assemble & seems pretty durable. I liked how the rack folds down & then can be moved away from the tailgate. When I lowered the gate it does rest on the bike rack & I wouldn't recommend standing on the tailgate while it's resting on the rack, but it does allow you to get the Tonneau cover off if you have one. From there you can climb into the bed of the truck. The 1st time I did this it was without bikes, so it was rather easy. Once I got back from our 20 minute test drive I tried lowering the bike rack down with 4 bikes on (pic attached). You might want to have 2 people for this since the rack is pretty heavy with all the bikes & needed some pressure to get the pin out. Also I recommend having someone guide the bikes down so they don't slam. In the end it worked, but will take a little bit more effort. Yes, raising the rack back into place is more difficult, but it can be done. Now the process of actually putting the bikes on. My one boy's bike is oddly shaped. Of course this was the 1st bike I tried to put on and it was a bit of a challenge. That is until I figured out that the mounts for the bikes rotate, which turned out to be a huge benefit. Once I got it figured out I was able to secure the bike nicely to the rack. I have attached a pic of how I had to rotate it & turn it upside-down. This also turned out to be benficial for the other bikes since they're all shaped a bit different & being able to rotate the area they mount allowed for the bikes to be secured well. I read that some bike racks need a bar for bikes, like female angled bars, to be attached correctly, but I didn't have an issue putting all 4 bikes on. Once the bikes were on and secure I used a tie down strap to secure all the front wheels. This would keep the handlebars from moving & swaying during travel. Now we set off on the 20 minute drive from our campground back home. The road getting out of the campground is a bit bumpy, but I didn't have any issues with the bikes. The remainder of the ride was mostly highway, going about 75 mph. The bike rack & bikes held up great! Finally, the security feature. I really like that I can lock the rack into the hitch. It was easy to tighten & seemed to do a good job at securing it. That doesn't keep somone from stealing the bikes off of it though. What I did was bought a 15' security cable & lock. I wound the cable around the bikes & used the lock to secure it to the hitch. I feel with both these measures out bikes should be pretty safe. At this time I give this bike rack a 5 star rating. If for some reason I have anything to add/change I will update this review. We are about to go on a road trip (about 3000 miles) so I should know more about it's durability then. UPDATE: This thing went 4000 miles without a single issue. At times the speed limit was 80 mph & I was worried after seeing some reviews about the arm bars bending. Well this thing is a tank & I highly recommend!

Great product!
The price is right & the bike rack is great. We used the 4 bike rack for our daughters bikes & drove over 1,000 miles. We attached the rack to our 2001 Chevy Suburban. 2 Bikes During our trip we only had the two bikes. We are not huge bikers, just a family with kids who want to ride their bikes, so we didn't want to spend too much money. This bike rack is perfect. We used the bolt & screw it came with and there was absolutely no wiggling or moving or noise as we drove 1,000+ miles. On the trip we were able to get a 24" beach cruiser & a smaller bike with training wheels on the rack easily. We had to adjust the straps to tie down the bike, but that wasn't too hard. We also used rope to secure the bikes, just in case. 4 Bikes On a different occasion and more than once, we were able to fit a 26" beach cruiser, 24" beach cruiser and two bikes with training wheels on the rack with no problem. We loaded them biggest to smallest. We did not purchase the cross bar. Instead we used put the rack between the bike frames so the bikes "sat" on the rack. On some bikes we had to turn the straps inward to "tetris" the bike on for a more secure fit. We also turned the last bike upside down so it could fit due to the training wheels. We turned each bike the opposite way when we put them on so that the pedals wouldn't hit each other. Putting 4 Bikes on this rack is totally doable without the cross bar AND with child bikes with training wheels. It is totally worth the money. The rack is easy to install. The arm folds down while still attached to truck when not in use. The rack does tilt down WITH ALL 4 bikes on it. We were able to life the Suburban door open completely with all 4 bikes on the rack. It is heavy though. My husband held the rack while I removed the pin then he slowly tilted the bikes down. Once we accessed the back, he lifted the bikes back up & I put the pin back in to secure it. It's pretty easy, just heavy with 4 bikes. I was able to do it myself with only 2 bikes. Overall this is a great bike rack and great price.

30 cents+2 cutters= No Wobbling
I've had this bike rack long enough to feel comfortable writing a review. I've taken my bikes to multiple locations on various days. So far, I've had as many as 3 bikes loaded at the same time and they are a 20,24 and 27 inch. The rack has held up quite well and I have not had any of the issues with the straps others have mentioned. The 24 inch bike is a girls bike and I have not had to buy an adapter in order to secure it properly. The space on the bike frame itself to go through the bike rack arm and the anti-sway cradles is minimal and I've found out after the first couple of times that turning them to the side makes mounting and unmounting very easy. This problem is specific to the 20 and 24 inch bikes only. My 27 inch gets on just fine. The rack itself feels very sturdy. While I have not had the need to tilt the rack down with the bikes mounted, I've done it only to experience how it feels and let me tell you that it can get heavy. I have this rack mounted on a 2003 Chevy Tahoe and I can open up the back window without having to remove bikes or tilt down the rack. The rack comes with an anti-wobble bolt and it really helps minimize any wobbling. This is possible, as far as I can tell, due to the way the bolt is shaped. It looks like a normal bolt except for the part directly underneath the head of the bolt which is wider and helps fill the space in the hole of the actual hitch. However, I did not feel comfortable with having the bikes on the rack with a bolt on the hitch but not locked so I set out to purchase a hitch lock which was a headache. The size of the hole on the rack is different than the hole on my hitch and I could not find a lock that would fit both. I finally settled on a 5/8 lock which matched the hole on my hitch and took a 5/8 drill bit to the hole in the bike rack which worked out very well. With this setup, there was more wobble than I had originally which required me to create a shim for the bike rack. Literally, for 30 cents I was able to create the shim that I needed. With the rack mounted and locked, I lifted the rack as much as I could in order to create separation between the rack and the hitch and I slid in 6 nickels. I was using a box cutter to shove the nickels in when I noticed that the cutter fit perfectly so took a couple of cutters, shoved them in, loaded bikes and went for a test ride. The cutters and the nickels eliminated most, if not all of the wobbling on the rack. They've been in there for about 3 weeks and they have not budged. I would have given the bike rack 5 stars due to the value and overall functionality, however, I wish they had taken into consideration average hitch lock size and provided a way for us to secure our bikes without the hassle I personally went through. I have attached couple of pictures for you to see what I did. I would still recommend this rack, along with step by step instructions on how to eliminate wobbling in case a hitch lock is purchased.

Great bike rack, especially for the money
I have had this rack for just a couple of weeks but I have traveled nearly 1000 miles with it already. This is my first bike rack that attaches to a hitch but I have a few friends that have one that I can compare it to. First of all, it took about 5 minutes to bolt together by looking at the picture on the front of the box. It then took just a few more minutes to attach it to the hitch with the "no sway" bolt that was included. A good size socket wrench is the easiest and best way to get it good and snug. Compared to other hitch racks, I immediately noticed there was nearly no sway at all on the hitch. The pins that hold the arms up and the main post from the hitch fit easily and snug. I like the unusual safety pins that keep the larger pins from sliding out. Because the larger pins fit is so snug, the safety pins are nearly unnecessary...no fear of the pins coming out. The pins are easy to grip and remove when you want to lower the arms that the bikes fit on or the main post coming up from the hitch. The main post lowers slowly and easily with or without a bike on the rack to gain access to the back of your car. We had my sisters dog in the back of our car on our way to N.C. So we had to access it regularly to let her out and it was a lot easier than I expected. Even though it fits 4 bikes, I have only had one bike on there so far. It was very easy to secure to the arms with the 4 holders/straps. It appears that there is adequate room to secure 4 bikes...aboutmthensame as other racks. Compared to my sisters bike rack where you have to use big metal clamps and screw them down, this is much easier. Also, on my sisters rack, if you want to use the back holders, you have to remove the covers on all the others. On this one you don't have to do that. I like to keep my bike in the holder closest to the car so my bike isn't hanging out there. The only down side on this rack after looking at some in a bike shop the other day is that it isn't quite as cool looking as some of the other name brand racks. That being said, those cooler looking racks were all 3 to 5 times more expensive than this rack. I have absolutely no regrets buying this rack and high recommend it. I have the utmost confidence that this rack will take care of my GF Superfly just fine!

WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY!!!
Absolutely 100% buy this rack!!!! I love it and can't stop using it. I'm a professional musician and getting into the trunk of my CRV regularly is a must. I got a cheap rack first and honestly dealing with the pins was such a hassle! I quickly got tired of that along with the fact that it came with misaligned holes. This rack is the total opposite! The straps are strong and sturdy, and therefore super safe. It doesn't wobble, the fit is perfect, and it is a highly solid unit. Returned it and decided to just spend the money to get this Allen rack and it is the best money I've ever spent. Now I can confidently take my bike anywhere and it's super convenient and easy to use. Such a breeze with the easy release latch and even EASIER to install and uninstall the rack into the hitch. Love the turnstile locking system with the key. Makes it super easy to remove if you need to! Don't hesitate. Get this now!!

Nice Rack Baby :-P
I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty, and was really hoping people would indicate their vehicle when reviewing this item. This is important, as my big question looking at this rack was: Will it extend past my spare tire hanging off the back? The answer: no. I ended up having to buy a hitch extender. I bought an 8-inch, but turns out I measured wrong and could have gotten away with a 6- inch extender. Keep this in mind should you have a spare tire on the back like me. My drawback to this item is vehicle specific as well. It has a pin system to lower the rack. However, it doesn't lower it enough to get out of the way of the spare tire when the door swings open. So once on, I can only access my rear compartment via the glass hatch. The bike rack doesn't swing out of the way like some Thule models. The rack itself is awesome. Well made and well constructed. Very strong (could easily support 400 lb if needed). I love that the straps are fabric feed-through loops. This helps in carrying children's bikes which don't always have the nice and convenient thin tubes that other racks require. My daughter's bikes are thick tubed and fit just fine on this thing. About the install. First off, I'm amazed that people would pay someone to install this item. Honestly, if a 1st grader had the strength of a 5th grader, they could install it easily (it weighs about 30 lbs). It comes put together in the box already. It requires you to: A - take it out of the box. B: slide it into your hitch. and C: slide and tighten the nut and bolt pin. Honestly, that's what I did. Why in the world would I pay anyone to do that? Also, people have mentioned wobble. It doesn't wobble much (and my wobble is made worse with my hitch extension). Plus, the wobble does not affect the vehicle nor does it affect the hitch. I can't even hear it. So it isn't an issue and not worth buying an anti-wobble bolt or even having to drill. The bolt that comes with it gets the job done, and it can do it's little wobble back there all it wants and I don't even notice it. Great item, just not perfect for the type of vehicle. And seriously people....pay to install? Let me know next time and I'll send my 7-year old daughter to show you how to do it. You do the lifting, and she can show you how. Also, ignore the poster saying they couldn't get into the back of their car with 4 bikes on the rack. That's not the purpose of the lowering mechanism. It's to allow you to get into the back of your vehicle with NO bikes on it. Of course with 4 bikes on it it's going to be a pain in the butt. With no bikes it's super easy, it just doesn't allow my tailgate to open anyway because it swings out with a tire on it. But if you want one that totally gets out of the way, you'll need about $400. What do you want for $90? Come on.

Great bike rack from Bronco, and easy assembly even for a dope like me!
Let's face it, I'm not the most mechanically inclined human out there. Sure, I can take toast out of the toaster and plug in a lamp, but when it comes to super technical things like changing a lightbulb or assembling a sandwich, I am useless. So, when this heavy, bulky package arrived with several parts, let's just say I was rather nervous. To my utter delight, however, this montage of metal bits and bolts wasn't difficult to connect at all! I read the directions, did what they suggested, all by myself mind you, and...I did it! The rack slid easily into my Bronco's tail hitch portal, I loaded my Cannondale on it, secured with the rubber doohickies and--BAM! Soooo easy, and looks decent too. It will block out the rear camera in the Bronco but it clears the spare tire perfectly and (so far) has been super secure. Love it! Now if only I could figure out how to start my Bronco :/

Worth the price
I bought this bike carrier for our family vacation. I needed to carry two adult bikes and one child bike. This carrier fit my needs well. When I was shopping for a carrier, I was shocked by the price of some of these. They are a bike carrier, not a nuclear contraption. Thule was mad expensive and I honestly do not feel that any of those high end carriers are justified in their costs. I bought this for $158.64 Prime and thought that this was a little on the expensive side for me...now I see this selling for $200.35(including shipping) I realize that I got a deal on this. I was a little concerned when I first purchased this because the box had a whole in it and part of the rack was protruding from the product box. When I opened the box, I realized I had nothing to worry about. There was nothing wrong with the carrier. Assembling this couldn't have been easier...three bolts, one plastic cover, and finished. Attaching this to your vehicle was one more bolt, which is necessary to prevent it from wobbling. This carrier is well made and easy to use. Squeeze the back of the neck, it will raise the bar holding the bikes. Lift the red lever, and the entire carrier tilts away from the back of your vehicle. This is extremely helpful when you realized you need to get something out of the back of your vehicle and your bikes are already loaded. I like that this has rubber straps, not velcro holding my bikes on the carrier. It puts me at ease when I have a long drive carrying my bikes. This carrier has a nice little feature...not sure if it was intended to be used that way, but it was certainly useful. There is a spot on the carrier that you can use a bike lock to lock your bikes on the carrier. It is useful as added security just in case the straps are to fail. It is also nice to know I can leave the vehicle for a little bit and not worry about the bikes being stolen. There are two issues I've had with this carrier. The first issue I had was you should be able to use a hitch lock on these carriers, so you do not have to worry about your entire carrier, bike and all, disappearing. The second problem I've had with this was putting a child's bike on this. With two adult bikes, it was almost impossible to get the child bike on. It worries me that adding a bike for my daughter would never work with this carrier. After using this on vacation, I did see someone carrying a child bike upside down on their carrier. It seemed to work well, so I will have to give it a try next time I need the carrier.
