I chose this set of 9 wooden food toys because they’re both durable and beautifully made. The quality stood out right away—the pieces are sturdy, well-crafted, and visually appealing with their bright colors. I got this for my two-year-old’s play kitchen, and she absolutely loves it. She spends lots of time pretending to cook, taking the food in and out of her little fridge, and engaging in imaginative play. I really prefer these over cheaper plastic alternatives—not only are they safer and more eco-friendly, but they also look much nicer in her play space. Another Melissa and Doug set that delivers! We purchased this set for our kids to play grocery store. Most of their play food is individual kitchen items, but this set is perfect for filling a shopping cart or “stocking shelves” for them to play like they are shopping. It’s a nice addition to the kitchen toys and expands their imaginative possibilities. The quality is on par with all other Melissa and Doug toys. It’s exceptional. The pieces are sturdy, solid wood which means they will last for generations. This is the stuff that creates heirloom toys. We love investing in our kids and, hopefully, grandkids futures with toys like these. There are so many uses for open role play and even education with these.

We have found that this is yet another great quality product from Melissa & Doug. Our family loves just about everything from Melissa & Doug, and this set was certainly no exception. Let's get into the details of this set. First, these are solid, relatively heavy items. This is mostly really good - these pieces are very nicely painted and feel like they're made from solid wood and will be durable not just for years, but perhaps generations. Parents with little ones prone to throwing objects should probably take note: these could cause a bit of damage when thrown! Certainly not a reason to skip this purchase, but just something to be aware of. This weight is directly connected to the product's durability, which should be outstanding. The paint and graphics are all oustanding. I appreciate that the items are all "generic" and not "brand name" - we didn't want to buy advertising for commercial food companies, and with this set, we didn't. Our kids really enjoy playing with these, filling their Step2 grocery cart with them, wheeling them around the house, emptying the cart while giving the items to family members, then collecting the items to start the cycle again. I also appreciate that these items are mostly ones that are part of our normal diet around the house, so should be instantly recognizable to the kids -- things like milk, butter and yogurt. Overall, this was a great purchase. The price was quite reasonable, quality excellent, and enjoyment factor high. You can't really ask for much more than that!

This Melissa and Doug food set is an adorable toy and really sparks the imagination. I would give it 5 stars but the paint has chipped in a short amount of time. I will keep it and not complain because it is so darling and they are heavy duty. Do not let one land on your toe- it really really hurts! The items go really cute with the shopping cart I ordered and kids really seem to like it. It has gotten a lot of use! I would definitely buy it again if they could fix the paint. I would never buy the plastic play food as those always seem to get dented and look trashed after a few weeks. Wooden toys will last you for many years. I recommend getting other kinds of foods from Melissa and Doug like the freezer food and the canned food to go with. Melissa and Doug make some very cute toys that will last until your grandchildren are playing with them. I like how the fridge food is all sorts of things, bologna, ice cream, orange juice, waffles, yogurt, cheese and butter. How cute! Just like things that Mom and Dad get when they go to the store. I recommend that many of your child's toys be Melissa and Doug. They make their toys to last, and they are very imaginative and original. I like that they don't make noise, because so many do these days. Noisy toys get really old really fast and batteries are actually kind of expensive to be constantly replacing. Too many toys these days are becoming so technical. These wooden toys are something that will never go out of style and will be loved by all.

These are the perfect size for a little play kitchen, and they’re just the right weight. They have just enough weight to feel realistic, and they’re just such high quality toys. They’re great for your kid to play pretend and mimic what you do in the kitchen. My son has already taken his cheese and tried to take his play knife to cut it up like we usually do for him, so it’s great for their creativity!

My wife and I bought this Melissa and Doug fridge food set for my Daughter for Christmas, and she loves it. The pieces are all made from solid wood and look very realistic. We love almost everything Melissa and Doug makes, and this product is no different. After over a month of solid play (and abuse) all of the pieces are holding up well and so no signs of wear and tear. The paint is well applied and does not scrape off easily. My daughter is not gentle with this "food" and they still look brand new. We bought this set to go with her Pottery Barn kitchen and wanted something nicer than just your typically fake plastic food. My daughter and I play with these regularly, setting up fake grocery stores and pretending to go grocery shopping and then stocking her fridge when she gets home - just like Mommy. We have already gotten hours of fun playtime with this set, and fully expect this to last for as long as my daughter and her new brother will play with them. If you are new to Melissa and Doug products, I highly recommend giving them and this product a try, as well as checking out their other offerings. They make many solid wood puzzles and learning toys, all of which I have found to be top notch in regards to craftsmanship, design and the most important of all - fun factor!

I really love these fridge filler toys! I will say they are pretty heavy because they are wooden so could definitely bonk some heads but they are super cute. Also if your little one is still putting everything in their mouth the paint will come off a bit but overall a quality set.

Can't express how much our family loves Melissa & Doug products. Their quality is unsurpassed, lasts through loads of play time, very durable, and everyone enjoys playing together...including the adults. Purchased this set as a birthday present for my grandson/nephew ... our family went together to get the whole set up. Loads of play time ahead. Highly Recommend!
