These shoes changed my life!
I had heel spurs and plantar fasciitis. I spent quite a bit of money on doctors, inserts and shots to my feet. I was unable to walk very far because my feet were so bad. My husband researched shoes for this type of problem and discovered the ASICS Kayano 20. I was skeptical that a shoe could do what a doctor couldn't. I was wrong. The Kayano 20s were comfortable from the moment I put them on. These shoes have literally changed my life. I can walk for pleasure and exercise now. I tried the Kayano 21s and returned them. They are NOT the same shoe, trust me. These are the best thing to happen to my feet! I highly recommend. Worth every penny to me!

The Variability of Asics
I mainly run in Saucony, and before that Brooks. But I periodically intersperse a pair of Asics into the mix, perhaps just for the anticipation of seeing if they will actually work. To say I have had mixed results with Asics would be an understatement. But I bought a pair of Kayano's a year or so ago and they were one of the "success stories", so I thought I would go to round two. Alas, it's like a different shoe! While the last version was generous in the toe box, the toe box on this feels like a blood pressure cuff. And of course that makes me acutely aware of the stitching across the top which, from past experience with Asics, is just waiting to rub a raw spot into the top of my foot. But we won't find that because these have been boxed and returned. I'm not saying I don't have this issue of inconsistent footbeds and toe-boxes with Saucony too. But Asics takes it to a whole other level. I just don't know why running shoe manufacturers can't put out a consistent product size-wise. :(

Great for flat feet and or plantar fascitis
Great for flat feet and plantar fasciitis. I have several issues with my feet and it has caused me to stop exercising because of the pain. Which in turn cuased me to gain weight and then make the pain in my feet worse. Somedays I get home from work and my feet are killing me, even if I wear flats or sneaks to work. I wear these to work out in and walk in. They provide great support and cushioning, especially in the heel area. They are mainly mesh so they breath fairly easy. They aren't necessarily the most attractive pair of sneakers I own but that isn't why I bought them.I have worn them serval times now with no issues.

VERY COMFY & CUSHY!
Have worn Asics Gel Kayano 19 for last few years until I saw reviews for the new gel 20. I find that they are as advertised-great fit, very cushiony ride the full length of my foot, & LOVE the color!! The first time you put them on, they are very comfortable with no binding at the ball of the foot. The great thing about these gel Kayano 19 & 20 is they are great the minute you put them on with NO feeling of "I have to go through a break in period"--they just feel so great from the get go--it is quite astounding! The toebox has just the right amount of toe room still left at the end of my run without squashing my toes or feeling too sloppy as other shoes that I tried before seemed to do. My feet just don't feel the least bit tired after 8 miles, my usual daily jaunt on mostly pavement. I can't say enough about these shoes! I can't imagine Asics improving on these shoes but if they manage to improve these, I'll be the first in line to buy!

Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis. ...
Twelve years ago I was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis. Physical Therapy, cortisone injections, custom orthotics, nothing was working to relieve the pain and the doctor suggested surgery. No way. I did more research and ASICS Gel Kayanos kept popping up as helping to manage the Plantar Fascitis. I felt I had nothing to lose. I bought my first pair of Asics Gel Kayanos, and wore them regularly. No "abra cadabra" moment, but within six months the pain in my feet had disappeared. Fast forward to today. I again am experiencing the symptoms of Plantar Fascitis, so bought another pair I have high hopes that these sneakers will also give me relief.

I have to wear orthotics everyday, all day, or else I cannot walk due to bilateral tarsal tunnel. When I find a shoe I like, I tend to stick with it because it is so difficult to switch shoes. I have been using the Asics Kayano since 17 and have been pleased. Still, I continue to try on less expensive shoes, but these are the only ones that give enough support to even bother purchasing. So, as for sizing, I used to wear an 8.5 but allow a 9.0 for the orthotics. Therefore, when I say they fit as expected, I am basing it on my prior experiences.

Great for advanced runners that have PF and Heel Pain!!!
I always wore Asics GT Series and started out with the 2150's. I was wearing Asic 2170's, best shoe I had in a long time and didnt like the 2000's. I believe after running in the 2000's I developed PF that gave me severe heel pain. I wanted a similar shoe like the 2170's but a little more support so I can recover for races this spring/summer. Came across the Kayanos and Wow really nice and comfortable in my heel. My feet feel so much better! I had tried the Kayano 21's but not much support in the heel and the toe box seem to be more narrow less room. I bought 2 pairs of the 20's before they are completely gone. I have logged in about 50 mile runs so far but only on the treadmill cause of the weather but loving them so far and no complaints. My only concern is if they would be good for 5k's. Hoping to beat my time 21:21 in theses. I guess will see this spring/summer. :) Dawn Hanson

Gel-Kayano are the best
This is my third or fourth pair of the Gel-Kayano. I've tried other ASICS running shoes but these are by far my favorites. They're a bit more expensive than other ASICS lines, but they're so comfortable and there are so many different colors to choose from. They run a bit large (I'm usually 7-7 1/2), but I now know that 8 M is the perfect size for me. I am flat footed and had a lot of pain in my feet when I started serious exercising and had to take Advil for the pain, but once I started using the Gel Kayano the pain went away and there was no need for painkillers. I have used a Sof Sole insert, which makes you feel like you're running on air, and just got a pair of orthotics for my pronation, which fit perfectly into the shoes. I love the purple/lavender combo and wear these to the gym or with jeans.
