Best purification system for what it is
I bought this and tested it without the plastic bag that accompanies it. I tested it on several different water sources and it did exactly what it says. The coagulation was kinda fun for people to watch. Getting the right skiing was a bit difficult at first. It advertises that the package is for 2.5 gallons, but I don’t carry around a 2.5 gallon bag or a 3 gallon bucket to purify out in the woods. I usually have a 1 liter or 1.5 liter bottle. Since I also don’t carry a gram scale with me, converting the 2.5 gallon package for a 1.5 liter bottle took some trial and error that I found rather taxing. I chose to error on the side of caution and went slightly heavier to avoid getting sick. While this did seem to work, the chlorine taste was a bit stronger than I expected and made drinking it a little difficult (no worse than those nasty chlorine purification tablets though). It really seems like these are only designed to support the accompanying 2.5 gallon bag. However, when/if you choose to purchase that, shaking 2.5 gallons of water for several minutes, and doing this a few times, becomes VERY difficult. These work great when you buy a scale, do the math figuring out that each gallon is 3.8 liters and then how much powder you need for your bottle, but short of that it’s anyone’s guess if you got the right amount for the size bottle you’re MUCH more likely to be carrying in an outdoor situation. I would like to see packets for something more reasonable like at least a 1 liter size, maybe a 1.5 liter size (.5 liter possibly but that might be asking too much?). However, under ideal conditions this really is a great product and I would still recommend it. P and G, please consider a more versatile option for real world application. I’m not gonna carry a 2.5 gallon bag of water with me on a hiking trip where I may need to purify water along the way

En Puerto Rico es parte del día a día que el servicio de agua potable sea interrumpido casi a diario y estos purificadores son una necesidad

P&G vs. Chlor-Floc
We tried the P&G and the Chlor-Floc on a four-day hike in the Grand Canyon, with two nights on the Colorado River. The river water was thick with sediments. The first difference is that P&G packets are for 10 liters and Chlor-Floc packets are for 1 liter. The second difference is that we preferred the P&G because the sediment stayed on the bottom of the bucket while we skimmed clear water off the top, while the Chlor-Floc sediment stirred up into the clear water at the slightest touch. But this doesn't matter if you use a better technique. With the P&G, bring two 10-liter collapsible buckets (Sea to Summit makes these). With Chlor-Floc bring two 1 liter Nalgeens. Bring a filter with a large opening and bring a cheesecloth. Pour 9 liters of water from the first bucket to second, filtering out the sediment, and toss the final liter. Then, after 30 minutes, add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide to neutralize the chlorine. Finally, I filtered the water with my Grayl to remove the chemicals and kill any bacteria or viruses that might have survived the chlorine.
