It does smell bad, I just open the door and do the straightening in the doorway. My photos are before (no product, air dry) and after (no product, air dry) obviously I can add product and heat style to get 0 frizz, but nothing else has ever gotten me hair that is not embarrassing to air dry without product. I am on my third bottle, I go through one every year and a half or so, but I also let go longer than 3 months with so-so results. Actually the before here is like 5 months after treatment, my real natural hair is more frizzy. My process is triple clarify at night, air dry overnight, morning apply keratin, air dry, straighten at night, wash next day or 2 days if I can stand the wait. My hair looks terrible during the wait time so I don't always go longer. I have no fall out problems but I also am never sensitive to products. I apply up to the scalp because I have a ton of frizz there and am hearty. It sometimes itches a little until the first wash but then is fine. Notes: I haven't found a way to get the smoothness and keep my natural waves. I tried it on my mom and she has straight hair with my after level of frizz - it didn't do anything for her. I have low porosity 2cish hair medium high density and medium course.

I’ve used this a few times and have finally figured out what works best for me. If you don’t care about my hair texture, skip this paragraph to read the tips and tricks that worked best. My hair is thick in terms of the size of each strand and the number of each strand. It has a mind of its own. I’m attaching a picture of one of my baby hairs (supposedly thin, soft hairs that grow along the hair line) that randomly decided to make a 90 degree turn. My hair has been compared to 18 gauge wire. Since it has such a strong-willed mind of its own, I don’t spend a lot of time or resources on it. I only have to wash it once a week, and I style it shortly after washing it, and then I’m done for the week. I have it cut about once every two years or so. Since I started going gray in my teens, I colored it once every two or three months. My husband is one of those deranged fools that loves my hair, so he suggested I find a healthier alternative to coloring. Now I glaze it from home once every week or two during my regularly scheduled washes. If I don’t blow it dry, it will take a day and a half to dry on its own, and it will usually mildew before it’s dry. When I style it, I would typically straighten it, and then I would curl it. It would be considerably curly that first day, but over the course of the week, it would soften into lose Victoria Secret model-esque curls. That’s when I would get the most compliments. I wanted to know if I curled it rather than straightened it during this process if it would possibly keep some of its curl. That’s a nope. Not only does it not react that way, but it also won’t be as effective. I scoured the internet for an answer to that and found nothing, so I wanted to get that out of the way. What works v. what doesn’t: -My first time doing this, I wore gloves. It was a waste of time and energy (and gloves.) Don’t bother. -I was worried about potential breakage, so I waited until after the first treatment to cut it. This was dumb. It took much longer to work through the hair with all of my split and dead ends. Now, I am able to go through the treatment process in half the time. -Don’t get it on your scalp. Your hair is more likely to fall out that way. The first attempt, I kept it about an inch away from the scalp. That was great, but a month after the treatment, I had about an inch and a half of curly hair, and the rest was still soft, straight, and treated. Most recently, I got right up to the scalp without massaging it in. I experienced no additional hair loss than from a normal wash and brush. -Set aside an evening to do this. When I initially did this treatment, I left it in for three days, because many said that’s what they did and experienced good results. That’s not necessary. I treated the hair at 6pm, went through the process, and washed it out the next morning. I could see no noticible difference between leaving it on for 12 hours and leaving it on for 72 hours. -The instructions say that after you’ve put the treatment in your hair, wait 30 minutes and then blow it dry on medium heat until 100% dry. This is almost impossible. First, the application of any heat starts the fumes. Your eyes and nose will run for their lives. Have a towel ready just to mop up the snot and tears dripping from your face. (I suctioned a snorkeling mask to my face, and that was much more comfortable but also more cumbersome.) It will take forever to blow it 100% dry on any heat. I dry it to about 40 or 50% and move on with the process. -Next you have to straighten the hair. Look at each individual strand to make sure the ends are straight. Keep the straightener as far away from your face as you can, because these fumes don’t play. I recommend going over each lock of hair a few times. Two or three should do it if you have your straightener at 450 degrees. You don’t want to burn it. -Your hair will feel like you have left your conditioner in, and I’m not talking about leave-in conditioner. Little white flakes that look like micro dandruff will be throughout your brush. That’s the treatment. It will feel a bit tacky when you have it on your hands, but once you put them under running water, you will notice that it’s the conditioning treatment. All of that will be gone when you wash it out, but this is another reason I don’t recommend going several days with the treatment in your hair. -As far as the product themselves, the most essential part of this package is the keratin treatment. You can use any clarifying shampoo, and you can also follow it up with any sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. It is my experience that most conditioners are sulfate free, so use what makes you happy. You can find sulfate free shampoo and any beauty store. I really like the shampoo and conditioner, so I may continue to buy this brand, but it’s not necessary. -I wanted to talk to the company before I bit the bullet and bought the product. I did an internet search for the product, found the phone number, and gave them a ring. I was not on hold, and they answered all of my questions. They were super helpful and discussed which type or level of product would be best for the mess growing out of my head. If you have any questions, I recommend calling the company. -I was born without a sense of smell, but my husband has had no problem with the fragrance of my hair after using this product. -I can get three treatments out of one bottle. Remember that I have a lot of hair, so many can probably get 5 or 6 treatments. (While I only wash my hair once a week, I go through a typical bottle of shampoo every 4 to 6 weeks.) Since I will let my natural waves do their thing during the summer, I only need to buy this once a year. -This will not make your hair healthier. The term “healthy” when applied to hair and nails doesn’t actually make since since they are comprised of dead cells. It will not improve your split ends or resurrect your dead ends. It will protect your hair from further damage, though. -If you have lots of body and love it, this will remove some of that, so you may want to consider something else. A cross section of a straight hair under a microscope is round. A cross section of curly hair under a microscope is shaped more like a lima bean. The curlier the hair is, the more severe the curve in the cross section. This product adds keratin (a natural protein found in hair) to the hair shaft and essentially rounds it out. It may not straighten it entirely and make it perfectly circular, but it will work in that direction. The additional keratin will keep your hair softer and straighter. It works great for me, but it’s not for everyone. TLDR: I love it. Four stars because the fumes are the worst, but I’m okay dealing with it every two or three months. My hair is straighter and so soft!! The before and after pictures speak for themselves.

I'm so happy with results that this product gave me. I've been getting professional Keratin treatments and Brazilian blowouts for about 3 years now I've noticed that lately I haven't been getting great results. I moved about two years ago so I needed to find a different salon to do my treatments, and ever since I moved I have tried 5 or 6 different salons and the results were never great. The treatments never lasted as long and my hair was never as smooth as before. I came to the conclusion that is because salons were trying to save product by only putting a sparse amount of product in my hair. Keratin product is expensive, but more importantly, the more product you put in your hair the more times you have to run through your hair with a flat iron. The whole process is timely. Of course you don't want to saturate your hair with product either. I was spending so much money on these treatments because my hair looked so much better after is was done, and I was chasing the results that I had prior to my move. Anyway, I decided to buy this and do it on myself. The results were fantastic! I added enough product without saturating it and the results are like what I had before I moved. I even went on vacation to Thailand and was in pool water and ocean water for 3 weeks and my hair still looks great 7 weeks later. I use the shampoo and condition which I really like as well. I still have enough product left to treat my hair at least 4 more times. I need to reorder the shampoo and conditioner. I will tell you that the entire process takes around 3 hours but the time saved every morning with having smooth hair is worth it! I do recommend buying a dye brush to apply the product.

Given our self-quarantine here at home, we decided to try a home Keratin treatment instead of our usual Brazilian Blowout at the stylist (since that takes about 4 hours). Typically it is pin straight for at least a month after treatment and then slowly gives way to soft waves before frizz grows back in about 4 months later. This home Keratin treatment got rid of most of the frizz, not all. It is definitely not pin straight so not sure how long it will last. We did myself and my daughter and are only halfway through the bottle so it looks to be good for about 4 treatments total. She has hair mid-back length and mine is shoulder length. Wasn't that hard to do, just time consuming. Took about 3+ hours for her, 2+ for mine. Don't think I would buy it again but it helped given the current situation.
