For my purpose, cheap and effective.
My wife found the brightness of my netbook disturbing when I browsed in bed. Even turning the screen down all the way, it was still far too bright and kept her awake. I got this so I could cut a piece and put it over the screen at night, cutting the light that bounced all around the bedroom. It worked! I was afraid that 5% would be too dark, but it allowed the right amount of light through that I could still easily see the monitor, but it didn't light up the room. When you put it on in regular light, it looks like it will be too distorted to view through because of the reflections in the room, especially if you don't press it down to the computer screen. I just stuck it to the frame around the screen so it could easily be removed and replaced. When you turn off the lights, however, all the outside glare goes away and you see only the screen. You don't even know its there, except that the screen is much darker. A cheap, quick and easy solution to the problem.

Love this stuff
I live in New Orleans, where hot, sticky summers are a given. To make matters worse my room sits on the third floor of a house and I have a large window that faces northwest. If I don't properly cover that window, the whole third floor of the house will feel miserable when I return from work in the afternoon. While I do have central AC, it struggles extra hard in the summer to keep the whole house cool. Because of this I decided to place some black out curtains and this tint in my window. The black out curtains help a great deal, but not enough. However, using this window tint in addition to the blackout curtains has worked really well. I love how easy it was to install this. Other reviewers have given installation tips that I followed. To be honest, I'm not to concerned with how it looks, I just need it to stay on (which it does). I should point out that there are darker windows tints out there, but the one I tried was not as easy to install and it also still let in some light. For a true dark window one might need two layers of this tint. Given the price and easy installation I highly recommend this window tint.

Does what you expect.
As far as keeping the sun out of a room in your home, it works fine. It's easy to use, measure and cut and really does stick to glass and can be be peeled away with no problem. I used a wallpapering smoothing brush to apply it which left little or no air bubbles at all. However, because there is always a "however" I do have one problem with this product. From inside the home it looks fine, from outside the home it looks awful. Anyone looking at your windows from the outside will think you haven't washed them in fifty years. The windows just appear to be dark and dirty. If you use this product on windows facing your back yard for instance well there is no problem. But windows that can be seen from the street just does not work, not for me anyway. However, yes another "however" I solved my problem by applying the plastic sheets over old aluminium window screen frames I had lying around. Once the sun comes in the particular windows in question I place the frames in the windows and goodbye sun. So for a couple of hours a day my windows don't look so great from the outside but I can live with that. Temporary yes, permanent no. I used tape to hold the sheets to the frames which so far is doing the job. Bottom line is this is a good product but perhaps better suited for car windows if it is allowed where you live of course.

perfect for our application
Great experience with this product, though I can see how it could really be a pain depending on what you're trying to do. I bought it for a 2' x 3' arched glass window on our front door that catches full morning sun and really heats up the room. I cut a simple pattern out of newspaper and used it to cut the film to size. I cleaned the window then coated it with a layer of water with a few drops of dish soap. Didn't have an empty spray bottle handy so I just painted it on with a basting brush. Also "painted" the film. Lifted it into place and situated it easily, as I could slide it around for the first few minutes. I was prepared to use a flat edge to smooth out bubbles but just ended up smoothing it a little with my hands. Perfect! It immediately darkened the room, but still allows me to enjoy the decorative nature of the window while giving it an attractive, smoky color. My only mistake was being a little too fussy and trying to trim a couple of edges that were slightly extended beyond the glass. It looked fine and was laying down fine, but in trying to trim it I made it worse. As another reviewer mentioned, it doesn't cut particular well with a utility knife and trying to do precise trimming with scissors wasn't handy. Can't imagine trying to fit it to car windows, though I can see keeping a hunk in the car to slap on a window when the kids are in the sun (those sunshades never seem to work for us.) Nice product.

Yeah, if your going to buy tint, honestly just do it right and buy pre cut for your model, take your time and it will look much better. I spent hours making a good fit and it still looks pretty bad :( Only reason id buy this again is for a nice square or small window that needs tint.
