Great Backpack...If your not a bag stuffer.
I purchased this backpack due to needing to carry a DSLR and 2 devices. I was worried about the laptop compartment being too thin to hold my ThinkPad Yoga and my Surface 3, but they fit perfectly and are secured nicely. The camera compartment is large and well made and the protective panel gives a sense of protection for the camera. Side pockets are deep and hold laptop chargers well. The bag is heavy and the rigidity takes some getting used to when on your back, but it is comfortable and carries well. The top handle and laptop compartment latch are fantastic and easy to manipulate. My only complaint is that the main compartment is rather small when the camera insert is in the bag. I would highly recommend this bag to anyone needing to make sure their gear is protected. I wouldn't recommend it for bag stuffers who carry enough crap in their computer bag to survive the apocalypse.

I trust this bag! ...finally, a tough laptop/camera combo.
I love this bag. I trust this bag.I'm a film and TV professional, and I often find myself in challenging environments. Even when the environment isn't necessarily challenging, my bag might need to moved by an underpaid and inexperienced disgruntled Production Assistant who thinks he's ready to be the DP. When that happens, the nearly $10,000 worth of gear I stuff into this bag, needs to be kept safe. Also, I travel a lot. I hate gate-checking my Pelican 1510 full of gear. This is a great solution to that.Negative Specifics:1. No matter what other buyers say, this bag does NOT easily fit under the seat of a commercial airliner. Take out the CAMERA INSERT, and I bet it fits. But, that's one of the main reasons I bought this bag. Fortunately, this bag barely fit into the overhead compartment on the smaller flights.2. You're often going to want to insert your laptop into the laptop case while the bag is vertical. It's much more convenient than laying the bag flat every time. It's fine to do that IF you take considerable care doing it. However, 15" MacBookPro slides all the way down to the bottom. It's so thin that it actually slides into the hinge space. it hasn't caused any problems, but it's a bit unsettling. The bag comes with FOUR pads, two of each size, to help protect your laptop. I've used two, and they are working well for their intended purpose. These were likely included so the bag will accommodate more buyers. But, I think I can use the additional pads to prevent my laptop from sliding all the way down.3. I wish the zipper compartment above the logo and near the top handle had a bit more of a "lip" on the upper interior of the pocket. This would keep items from sliding out of the pocket when the bag is horizontal and you're trying to access the pocket's contents.4. It would be nice if the large interior pocket had some sort of closure mechanism. I haven't had any problems because the top flaps is designed so well to fit over it. But, I'd feel a little safer with an additional clip there.5. It's heavy... BUT that's because it's tough.6. A lot of outdoor companies have lifetime warranties where they will replace or repair everything no questions asked. I'm not sure if Pelican offers that, but $200 later, I sure hope they do. :/Positive Specifics:1. Well made. I TRUST this bag. I put a lot of weight into this bag. A lot. A MacBook, a DSLR, lenses, a 4TB G-RAID hard drive, 5 LaCie Rugged Drives, Sekonic L-758 LightMeter, etc. It does the job.2. The bag looks a little utilitarian... which I don't mind. It also looked like it might be uncomfortable. HOWEVER, having the laptop compartment right against my back is hardly noticeable. It's comfortable, and I think they've done a good job designing it. I don't mind wearing this bag for extended periods.3. The zippers are sealed and well made. This is huge when it comes to buying gear.4. I love the tough top handle, and you will, too. Having so much valuable gear, I would NOT trust a nylon loop on top of this bag. Having that sturdy tough top handle is great! If you find yourself standing in one spot for too long, you can carry the bag using this comfortable handle, and trust it.5. Durable, water-resistant materials. Quality stitching. Quality everything, really. I hope it lasts a long time, and I think it will.6. I like that the camera insert comes out. I take my camera everywhere, all the time. I will not likely remove it often, but I like having the option. The insert is well made, and has it's own zipper. the flap folds up when it's inside the bag to create a nice divider. There's a pretty good space above the camera divider when it's inserted into the main compartment. Another good choice by Pelican. It's a large enough space to stuff a light jacket or vest into....Happy with this purchase.

Not perfect, but close!
I really like this case. Room for my camera, lenses, and flash. The hard case holds my 13" MacBook Pro with no problem. This backpack is heavy! There is no other way to put it. But I have no fear of my gear getting damaged. My only complaint (if you can even call it that) is the removable camera bag top, is the bottom of the top compartment. If you want to remove the camera bag, whatever you have above it, falls to the bottom. So when you want to return the camera bag portion, you must first empty the bag. I wish it had a separator between the two compartments. Good padding on the back and shoulders. Lots of slots and pockets for the small stuff. Overall a very nice backpack.

Great bag for the photographer on the go!
I just got this bag and I already love it! It's perfect for the photographer on the go. With this bag, I'm able to carry my camera (Nikon D300S) with the power grip attached, my Nikkor 35mm f/1.8, my Nikkor 18 - 70 f/3.5, my Nikkor 18 - 105mm f/3.5, my ProOptic 8mm Fisheye and my SB-600 Speedlight all in the removable camera bag and I had enough room above that for the Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 I rented for the concert I shot this weekend.Plenty of pockets to hold the chargers and everything else. The laptop area is great and hold my Surface Pro 3 perfectly has I jump from location to location. One down side there is no real spot for a tripod but there are some straps on the bottom that will hold it nicely if needed. The bag itself is made of the top of the line stuff that Pelican is known for. The bag fits and feels great on my back. I highly recommend this bag for the on the go photographer!

Big, heavy and rough around the edges.
Too heavy and awkward. Well made, although the latch to the laptop portion is questionable as to whether it will last. It is a unique item and serves its purpose, but using it daily is brutal! Even traveling with it can be rough. There are better choices.

Don't judge a book by its cover
Laptop is safe & secure, don't expect to store anything else but a few sheets of paper ((travel documents) rigid handle is useful but does not collapse enoughCamera bag is decent, easy access and bag removes for handy storageHowever minimal cargo area once camera and basic accessories loaded into supplied camera bag . & computer stowed. The interior "tablet" sleeve is without elastic and is too tight for easy storage, exterior storage areas(2) are useful but not spacious. I traveled with this for recent vacation and was under thrilledStraps are decent but not for hiking/sport It can take the weather, but not a lot of gear2.5-3 stars
