Lonely Planet Never Fails
This book is great, as every Lonely Planet Book. Great information, detail, tips, tricks, all you need to know. The only reason why I don't give 5 stars it's because the cover came a little bit wrinkled. The book had no protection at all (usually when I buy books they come with a plastic wrap or something to protect it). This one came with nothing so it arrived with some noticeable wrinkles and scratches back and front.

The Only travel book you ever need!
Without a doubt the most informative guide book for SE Asia. I used this book a few years ago and could not have been more pleased. It gives you REAL information and guides to travel smart, safe and affordably.

Only for backpackers
I bought this book because I moved to Asia and thought it would be nice to have all south east asia in one book for long weekend trips. However, this is a very simple backpacker book. I don’t think this is a good buy unless you are planning to backpack around the region.

The condition of this book was not as described. It arrived with a torn cover, bent pages, frayed corners, and water(?) stains. All the pages appear to be there and legible, though.

A Brick of Old Information.
I have been traveling since the mid-80s. I have spent years, over the years, almost nine years traveling with a backpack around Asia. Using these guides keeps you from finding the most currant information. By the time a book is researched and then has gone to print, it's out of date. Asia is super dynamic and things change monthly. Once a place gets into the guidebook, or not, it can change overnight, depending on which person is now running things. Places in Asia are most often not run by a professional staff, run by a professional company, but just some young people or family members. These are my favorite places but new ones pop up, and close down, or simply change, all the time. A place that was responsibly run can turn into a nightmare overnight. I've seen recommended places turn into drug dens or gang hangouts. Transportation routes and availability change constantly. Visas, border crossings, you name it, are constantly changing. Lonely Planet writers cannot keep up with the changes and cannot cover even a fraction of the countries they write about. The most currant information is always on the web from reviews from hundreds of thousands of people who are booking accommodation, dining, and traveling around. It's crazy, but even the most rural areas, the smallest villages, now have WiFi through cell phones. Areas won't have telephone lines but will have jumped to WiFi towers, especially in the most rural areas that had no infrastructure before. Farmers tilling their fields with buffalo will have cell phones. There are maps, just like Google maps that show you where accommodation is, food, and reviews, booking reviews, visas, health, and any other info you need just like in the States and Europe. You can travel around with a heavy brick of old information if you like, but you aren't going to be getting the best and most currant information available. This also goes for the Kindle versions. The world has moved on and these types of guidebooks are obsolete, and worse, keep you from the newest most current and detailed information. Happy travels. Get out there and explore.

Lots of information (too much) and too heavy, read before you leave.
Great book for reading before you leave for travel, but don't take it with you. I donated it to a hostel in Malaysia because the thing was too heavy. I ended up getting all the information I needed from other travelers.

Does a solid job, reliable guide book. It was my bible during 6 months travels, along with online resources. Lots of good general history, overview and tips, such as transport destinations times and distance, border crossing, maps of country, cities and its highlights very helpful, also liked the "don't miss", "off the beaten track" and "worth trip" sections. It is organized logically, has a good flow. I would suggest more color, this would make it more easier to find things. Also, some places no longer exist, but I think this is due to unpredictability of the pandemic. The book is thick and heavy, almost 800g, but worth to carry for me, I was much more confident traveling and planning with it.

Great and informative , whether my daughter uses it for herr travels or relies on an app , I’m not sure but she will definitely take it with her . Heavy of course as it’s a large book but necessary.
