Well made but extremely delicate
Well made but extremely delicate. Not for the elderly, kids, camping or vacation. Your cat's tail will bump this into the sink on the 1st pass. If you're a hand washer or OCD, the glass Kalita is for you. After acquiring all the items for consistent pour overs, I'm sorry I spent the money. ($225) I can only make one cup of coffee. I could have had a very nice coffeemaker. I highly recommend the matching Kalita filters. Very good at keeping out the fine grounds.

Perfect for pour overs.

Great for slow pour over
Works great for slow drip pour over. Id buy another one when needed. It feels a bit thin and I havent dropped it so idk if it will hold up or not.

Not Made in Japan
I bought this because I needed a carafe for brewing coffee. The product description and sticker on the box indicate that this is made in Japan, but this is made in Thailand. The glass has "Made in Thailand" written on it. The carafe is great though. Seems pretty sturdy and I like the shape. Please remove all the references to made in Japan from this product listing.

Love that it's so tiny
I bought the Kalita 185 but it was too small for my cup. I returned the 185 due to a defect and bought the 155 and after watching a YouTube video, saw someone using a very small carafe and thought it would be ideal. According to what I read, the 155 makes 12 to 16 ounces of coffee so this little carafe is the perfect size. Love it!

Not Gorgeous, But (Mostly) Functional
What I liked about this right off was the thickness of the glass (sturdy and not too fragile), and the very easy cleaning (I use soapy water and an OXO bottle brush). Kalita needs to go back to the drawing board on the lid. Not only is it too tight because of a too rigid plastic used that doesn't give enough for easy pulling out and pushing in, but they made the situation worse by putting a totally strait up and down pull knob on the lid that simply doesn't function. It doesn't flare out at all and there are no ridges or grooves to give your fingers more pulling power. Other than that, very useful, and again, not too fragile. I'd buy it again, but if it were my company I'd be ordering a bit of a redesign. UPDATE: After deciding this didn't keep pour over coffee hot long enough to drink it, I started using the .6 liter size of the Alfi Hotello carafe for making pour over instead. You can't visually make pour over, but you can using a scale, and it keeps the coffee hot for over an hour with its ingenious 1" thick hollow lid that has no rubber seal/gasket at all and no internal glass vacuum to break. It was designed for waiters in hotels and works perfectly. I bought the 1 liter size for use with my Moccamaster and the .6 liter size for making pour over and keeping it hot.

Nice product
Nice product, good for about 1.5 cups of coffee (American sized cups). Glass is thin so care is necessary. Coffee should be made using this carafe and then pored quickly onto an insulated coffee cup because the coffee inside this unit cools down fast. The lid fits well but the coffee pours haphazardly out of it and makes a mess. A fully closed lid would be better to hold in heat of the half cup of coffee that remains in the carafe after the first pour.

Carafe perfect for Xbloom
Great carafe for the Xbloom pourover machine. Clears the pod/dripper. Minimizes drips from the dripper onto the machine. This carafe is lightweight. Have not broke it yet though. I wouldn’t wash it in the dishwasher.

I've had the coffee filter machine for over 40 years but had broken the glass jug. This is a perfect replacement.

The whole spout feels like good thick glass. The carafe doesn't feel quite as thick or sturdy but as I shattered the spout on another server I'm glad to have thick glass on this one's spout. The handle is very solid and while it's not the most ergonomic it's easy to handle.

Note only the lid is made in Japan, not the glass (headline states Made in Japan for set, not until the description does is state thailand/Japan). Packaged well and early delivery.
