Q: Can I hit real softballs with this?

Yes you can hit softballs with it. My daughter used to loosen up before hitting and hitting off a tee to quicken her swing with her normal bat.

Q: One says adult 37 oz but description says 27 oz. Which is it?

They have two different sizes. I have both. The black bat I have is for a teen/adult and the yellow bat I have is for a youth. These are great bats for use with golf-wiffle-balls for developing bat strength and hand-eye coordination.
