Amfit Nutrition Whey Protein Powder 1kg Chocolate

I must say this is honestly the best protein powder I’ve ever come across. Once you shake it up, there’s barely any lumpy bits like other protein powders and it tastes so good! Literally feels like a treat after a gym session or on a non training day just to meet your protein goals. Also, £37 for a pack of two? 66 servings? 23g of protein each scoop? You cannot go wrong with that. I’ve been on my gym journey since January and I’ve been switching protein powders so often. Safe to say I will definitely be sticking to this! 🙂

I've tried 3 flavours of this brand now (Salted Caramel, Cookies and Cream and White Chocolate). They're all delicious, by the white chocolate is my favourite - it is SO good. I've had many bags of this delivered and it's always consistent, mixes well, tastes good with just water, no lumps or gritty texture, just delicious. I don't understand the comments about the reseal on the bag - the reseal is excellent. The first time you open a new bag, just run a clean on knife along the seal to remove any powder that's found it's way in, and then it's one of the best reseal bags I've had.

The price of whey protein has rocketed over the last 2 years. I recall buying 2k bags of a branded protein for £18. Now they a £50+. Decided to give AmFit a go. Very pleasant surprised. Ordered 1kg of salted caramel at £15. This powder has a nice taste and is very similar to myproteins salted caramel. Perhaps this powder tastes a little more watery but a little less water sorted that. Mixes to a nice smooth milkshake texture drink. Mixing protein powders is an area where a lot of users mark a product down, both for this product and others. I use a standard shaker with a ball, and I always put in the water first, and shake, before then putting in the powder. With this method, I've never had clumps, even with lower budget soy/pea based protein. This powder mixes fine. Some users commented on closing the bag. Yes, it the powder initially clogged the closing strips. I used a clean brush to get the powder out. No issues. I will be ordering more.

I got Chocolate Hazelnut and it’s extremely sweet, especially if you’re sensitive to artificial or strong flavours. Even when mixed with more liquid than recommended, it still tastes overly sweet and has that artificial hint to it, as if you’ve had a spoon-full of powdered sugar (don’t ask). Another issue is how quickly it separates. If you don’t drink it straight away, it starts separating within a short time and needs to be shaken again very heavily. The zip also doesn’t seal properly after opening, which makes the bag feel flimsy and inconvenient to use long-term. I’ve ended up storing it in a separate container to avoid spills and keep it fresh. That said, it does mix reasonably well initially and provides a convenient source of protein. However, between the excessive sweetness, separation, and poor packaging, I wouldn’t personally repurchase this one unless the formula or packaging was improved.

There's so many shakes on the market, what one to choose? I didn't want to spend a fortune on something I may not like, so chose this brand on both price and protein content. I mix this with cold milk and shake before letting sit until I'm ready to drink it. I use a shaker bottle with a metal ball inside and I've never had issues with lumps. It actually tastes really nice. You get a nice thick shake with this mix - I bought another brand without a thickening agent in it and I don't care for the nesquik consistency of that one. Pack comes with a measuring scoop so no weighing out the powder. I use this as a breakfast shake and it keeps me going until my lunch break (about 4 hours). Tried coconut flavour also which was great - will likely stick with this brand as it ticks all the boxes. One downside for me is a bizarre cheesy aftertaste afterwards - slightly unpleasant, however washed down with a glass of water it goes away quickly. It is whey powder after all I guess and for me it's not intolerable.

Pros - Mixes really easily in just a couple of shakes in a protein shaker. - Nice 'mouthfeel' once it's mixed, a bit like a McDs milkshake (which might be too thick for some) - Washes out of your mixer quite easily, doesnt leave 'that smell'. You know the one I mean... - Protein seems to be of decent quality - didn't give me gas. - Nice sized pack. - Not full of filler so not full of calories. Cons - Chocolate flavour is disgustingly sweet. Even my 13 year-old son wouldn't drink it, he said it was too sweet for him and he'll eat sugar out of the packet. It's sickly, incredibly sweet and doesn't taste of chocolate at all. Vile. - It obviously has some kind of emulsifier, you can't mix it with anything except plain milk or water or you'll end up with a stodgy mess (also see flavour) - The container/packet doesn't reseal once it's open. It should, it's a resealable zip lock style bag, but it doesn't. Cheap packaging. You will probably want to decant this into another container that actually seals. - It's not the cheapest. It's not the most expensive either though. 3 out of 5 starts from me. The sweetness is inexplicable, I wonder if they even tasted it themselves? There are other, better brands, IMO, but if you like your protein incredibly sweet with no appreciable chocolateyness maybe this is for you...
