Good low-cost basic bluetooth using regular batteries
I had been searching around for a bluetooth speaker that runs on regular batteries, and the low price made this one worth trying. I also didn't expect too much from it, but at 4 months I'm very happy with it with no real concerns. It's a basic bluetooth speaker appropriate for casual use in close quarters, with more features and convenience than you'd expect at this price.Like many other speakers, it automatically connects to your phone a few seconds after you turn it on, and adjusts your phone's output to the level when it was last paired. I've used its 3.5mm analog input jack once, so that's a bonus feature. And though I haven't tried it, I see that it can run on AC power via USB (it comes with a cable too). It's unlikely anyone would be USB-powering it from their car, or even a computer, so you'd just need one of those typical AC plug-in cubes used for mobile phone charging. That it's waterproof or at least highly water resistant could be helpful in certain situations. I've found that Eneloop rechargeable AA batteries will last a long time in it, essentially making it a rechargeable unit not subject to its internal battery eventually not holding a charge, or the charging jack breaking (both have happened to me with other speakers). That said, I've used an OontZ Angle 3 small-format bluetooth speaker for more than 2 years now, and that's a terrific unit with an internal battery for just $25. If I could only keep one, the Oontz would be it.The only small issue this Pyle apparently has is *not* automatically shutting off on its own after a significant length of silence. I learned about that from other reviewers, and to me it's not a big deal, just something to keep in mind. Sound-wise it sounds just like what you'd expect from a small plastic box, not great, but fortunately not terrible either. Tip: keep the speaker volume at full and control the listening level from your phone.Simply put, this is a low-budget way to play music continuously for very long periods, with spare batteries on hand or using AC power. I'd gladly pay more for a high quality unit that could run on Eneloop rechargeable batteries, but I haven't found anything like that yet, so this was money well spent.

So Glad To Use My Own AA Batteries
I have several dead bluetooth speakers sitting around because their batteries went kaput.I wanted a bluetooth speaker that would take AA batteries, so that I was more in control of its lifespan. This speaker isn't perfect. The sound is pretty good, but not amazing, and the price is a little high. But, this speaker will be usable well into the future because it's not going to die along with an internal battery, and that justifies the price. I love having the ability to just rely on AA batteries for power. I can remove them when I'm not going to use it for a while, and I can put fresh ones in whenever. I look forward to camping with this for both its water resistance and the fact that I don't need to think if I need to recharge it. I can just dip into my AA battery supply, and there will be music (provided my phone is charged--or someone else's).

Holy mother of god!
In the name of the father, the son, and the flying spaghetti monster, this thing is AWESOME!I tell you, I have listened to music on some very high end equipment over the years. This thing is not that. You want top end sound, pay top end dollars. That said, for what it is this little stereo blew me away. Think of what it is: cheap drivers (quality loss), not much power (quality loss), waterproof (more quality loss) and streams music over bluetooth (even more quality loss). And you know what? It still sounds great. Sound quality is an entirely subjective thing, but I've listened to some great stuff, some crappy stuff, and this thing is solidly above average. On full volume it fills a room nicely, and is one of those hard to describe things where the sound seems to come from everywhere at once instead of a focal point. To test it, I played a collection of classical music, which given the complexity of the sound is a lot to ask of a speaker. It performed very well, given what it is.Now, what is it?This boombox is supposed to be a go anywhere, do anything speaker. It is not meant to replace your home stereo. Could you use it as one? Sure, and it'll do well. It is not supposed to be the final boss of audio equipment. Think of the difference between a swiss army knife and a scalpel. The scalpel does one thing superbly well. The Swiss army knife does many thing moderately well. Or if you prefer, it's the difference between a Ferrari and a Jeep.I dunked this thing in a bucket of water for 15 minutes. I dropped it from 6 feet up onto grass. It didn't care. Will it survive a nuclear blast or an manic boy scout? No. It is solid, but like all things it has limitations. For 'regular' outdoors activities it'll do just fine. Some people complained that it uses AA batteries instead of a rechargeable cell. If that bothers you, don't buy it. How you spend your money is your call. For me, I bought it deliberately because of that. AA batteries can be found in every corner of the globe (I bought some in Mali once), and they're cheap. Given that this is supposed to be and outdoors radio, you probably won't have access to a power outlet, but you're probably already carrying AAs for your flashlights. Plus, should you lose power for an extended period you can pop in some batteries and play this thing to lift morale. If buying new AA batteries each time seems wasteful, it'll run just fine on rechargeable ones. And all this for 20 bucks?! If they charged double it would still be a screaming bargain. This is one of those things that gives you so much for your dollar it almost restores your faith in capitalism.

Brilliant!
Very good value. Sound and volume are impressive added to which the build quality is ver good. I would recommend. These comments are related to the price paid at less than £20, if purchasing this do not think you are getting a Bose etc. But IT IS VERY GOOD.

Fantastic waterproof speaker
Absolutely waterproof, sturdy and no distorted sound. One of the best features is the combination of volume and track control, not just one of the two. Very pleased!

Would have been useful, otherwise
One thing to note: do *not* buy this expecting it to amplify when connected by aux cable. The volume control buttons on the unit are non-functional when connected directly. Would have been useful, otherwise.

Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Great Speakers.
Great speakers. They are totally resistant to water underwater. I tested them underwater. Design is not the best compared to other products but works perfect with buttons to change volum, change track (very important because not all speakers have this button), pick calls, etc. Works with AA batteries so you will never have to buy a new speaker when the battery life finish after three years. You just put AA batteries or recharge them and taht's it. Batteries last many hours.
